Good morning, Welcome. This is Sarah Rabinovich and this is the mindful cup of coffee meditation. For this practice you'll want to have a warm drink with you like a cup of coffee, Tea or hot cocoa. It's a feeling for you to pause this meditation while you prepare yourself a drink. And then whenever you're ready, Sitting or lying down or even standing wherever feels most comfortable. In your bed, On the couch, Outside in the morning air, In your car, Wherever. The way we start the day matters and so this practice is about tuning into yourself as you soothe and nourish with something warm for the belly and heart. So beginning by gently holding the warm mug or cup and just taking a few deep and slow breaths. Allowing the warmth of the mug to melt into your fingers, Soothing and softening the hands. Breathing in, Breathing out, Allowing the walls of the chest to soften, The belly to soften as it receives breath coming into the body, Out of the body. And inviting yourself into the present moment on this very morning. You might acknowledge your own self right here and right now by gently smiling or very gently shutting the lids of the eyes, Turning attention inward. Breathing in, Breathing out, Settling here, Warm, Present. And noticing how things are today. Feeling into the body, The heart, The mind. Seeing if you can bring some kindness, Some curiosity as you move towards yourself, Exploring what's here. It's okay, Whatever's here, This is just how it is. And then gently holding onto awareness of yourself, The breath as you connect with what's around you. The sounds, Objects and awareness. Quietly acknowledging these things. Shifting awareness now to the warm mug. The sensations of the mug against the hands. And slowly lifting the mug, Taking a sip. Feeling the warmth travel through your body, Bringing nourishment, Bringing invigoration. Perhaps also taking in the aroma, Feeling the steam against the face. Warm and then cool. And taking a few breaths and then another sip. Noticing the complexities of how it tastes, The complexities of what it feels like as it moves down the throat and into the belly. Breathing in, Breathing out. So now just taking some time here in your own way to do nothing else except for drinking from your warm mug. Just doing this one thing, Only for you. And if you're noticing the mind wandering to what you have to get done today, Somewhere else you should be, Anywhere else, Just acknowledging this too. The mind will wander. Gently bringing attention back to sipping the warmth of your drink. Resting in these moments of nourishing yourself with kindness, Tuning in to yourself, Sipping and breathing and allowing. And as we come to the end of this practice, Feeling free to continue on your own. Acknowledging this practice as one of self-love.

Wonderful morning ritual. It makes every morning feel a little more centered. As she says in this meditation, "The way we start the day matters."

I really liked this meditation. However, I would encourage others to start with a hot drink, not a ‘warm’ drink. You don’t actually drink until about 5 minutes in, and so if you are like me and have an optimal window for drinking coffee, you may want to factor that in. Otherwise very soothing and relaxing. I will do this meditation again and start with a hot drink! 😛

A unique modern adaptation of the ancient intention device of using "the cup of water" technique while in practice and drinking the water at the end of the practice. Some even write the word "ohm" on their cups. Your adaptation for coffee lovers like myself expresses how we may make even the little things, the every day mundane things in our lives transformed into the intentional, Thanks

Reading other reviews, everyone says it gets cut off at the end. Idk...I always just assumed that was the ending... Either way I like it and it is the only coffee meditation I can find on here. I have no greater pleasure in life than drinking a good cup of coffee to peacefully start the morning and I appreciate anything that can enhance that experience (:

An easy one to fit into your day, especially if you already start it with a warm drink.

That was a very good cup of coffee. I imagined myself sitting outside on the balcony looking at a mountain, drinking coffee.
