It's so natural to want to be in control but often the more you grip, the worse you can feel. The more you try to control things, the more anxious you can end up feeling in the long run. This meditation will teach you the art of surrender. Ease into the relief of letting go of control.

This is a beautiful go-to for you when you need to allow yourself to trust and you need to allow yourself to surrender.

I want you to allow your body as ever to find a comfy position as we go into this practice together and I want you to let yourself come into this practice when you know you are in need of letting go of surrendering.

Allowing your body to almost unfold as though the body is unfolding bit by bit.

Often we need to make sure our body is in this perfect position of feeling upright and strong and capable and this is your chance to almost imagine your body a bit like a cardboard box just unfolding,

Not having too much structure to it,

Not needing to allow the body to make sense,

Not needing to make yourself make sense,

To simply unfold and to soften the breath.

And as you soften your breath I want you to just feel into how good that feels to allow the lungs to fill up with air and to let yourself breathe everything out.

Come into this space when you're tired of holding on,

Of tightening your grip,

Of trying to stay in control,

Trying to grip the wheel too hard and again allowing the breath to really soften.

Feeling the air coming up through the body,

Perhaps in through your nose,

Out through your mouth or back out through your nose wherever it wants to go.

Imagining that air so soft,

So gentle,

Letting go.

So whatever worries may be racing around your mind at the moment,

Whatever it is you're telling yourself you need to control or make happen or get a head start on or whatever it is you're doing,

I want you to see if in this practice you can do something that's going to feel so counterintuitive and that is to surrender,

To let go.

With that word surrender it can bring up a lot of things,

It can almost bring up this sense of what if I surrender then I'm giving up,

I'm failing,

It means I don't know or I can't do it.

And surrender can also bring up this feeling of well nothing's in my control then I have no ability to decide what happens.

And I want you to see if you can see that perhaps neither of those things are true.

Perhaps it's not about giving up so to speak or failing or laying down your sword and surrendering in that way,

Nor is it about saying I have no choice because you do,

You always do.

But how much are you fighting,

How much are you wading through,

How much are you telling yourself this is the way things need to go.

As you breathe I want you to recognize that the strange thing that happens when we surrender sometimes things can just flow better.

So I want you in your mind to see if you can bring a visual to this and it may be exactly that visual I just described there of almost having your armor on,

Having been in battle and you're just simply laying down your sword saying I can't fight anymore,

I'm not doing this,

I'm not fighting in this way.

Perhaps it's just simply of someone laying on the ground,

Arms sprawled out,

Just open to the heavens above.

Perhaps it's just an image of yourself wandering free through the forest or somewhere in nature,

Whatever comes to your mind when it comes to surrender.

Now I want you to see this image clear and with this image I want you to see yourself letting go of control and that actually that moment you lay down your sword,

You lay on the floor,

You do whatever it is you see yourself doing,

That all of a sudden your body starts to actually fill up with strength again,

With knowing,

With wisdom.

Things somehow become clearer.

I'm going to leave you for a little while with that imagery,

With that feeling.

Do this as many times as you need to,

Surrender,

Surrender,

Surrender and then allow the body to actually fill up with this sense of strength,

Of letting go and with clarity.

I'm going to say a few affirmations as we draw this meditation to a gentle close and for a few moments let's just absorb this.

I am stronger than I think and I do not need to be in control,

Seeing everything that's to come in order to be okay.

I allow life to be both me living with me as well as bigger than me and that is okay.

I do not need to know everything,

I do not need to be in control.

When I surrender I release and when I surrender I actually gain more clarity and more wisdom.

It's okay to surrender,

It is not a failure and even so it's okay to fail,

It's okay to not know,

It's okay to not have things go perfect.

I surrender,

I surrender,

I surrender.

A couple more breaths here,

Placing a hand on your heart and sinking into this feeling of surrender.

Your body almost feels now as though it could be moved wherever the wind almost wants to take it,

It's not so rigid.

The body moves however it wants to move and it feels so good,

It's like you're just flowing better,

There's an ease to your body that perhaps wasn't there before.

Just allowing yourself to come to a natural close here and redo this if you need to,

If you need to go back over this now and just re-surrender if you're particularly holding on to a lot,

Please do.

When you're ready to come out of this meditation all you're going to do is wiggle the fingers and toes,

Bring yourself back.

Take your time,

Blink your eyes open when you're ready and if you need to do this process again,

Keep surrendering,

Keep letting go and keep trusting.

Letting go is difficult. It should be easy, passive action and relaxing …. I’ll continue practicing. Thank you 🙏

Scarlett, thank you. This is a really helpful meditation- one of your best! The metaphors resonated well and I appreciated the slower pacing of your words (that has been evolving nicely in recent months). Worth more than 5 stars!🙏❤️🙏
