Day Forty Six of Lent. Today’s meditation is a visualization exercise inspired by Mark 14:50. During this meditation, and for the final week of this series (Holy Week) we take a deep dive into the final week of Yehsua’s life. We meditate upon what it would have been like in his time, & really try to imagine the context of Yeshua’s life & teachings. Let this meditation take you deeper in communion with God & one another. And let this series be an edifying part of your Lent practice.

Hello my friends,

Welcome to day 46 of Lent,

Holy Saturday.

Today's meditation is one of lament.

If at any point this meditation of lament becomes too difficult,

Feel free to opt out.

And spoiler alert,

This particular meditation does not have a happy resolution.

Today we simply sit in the discomfort that the disciples experienced the day after Yeshua's crucifixion.

If that is going to be troublesome or problematic for you,

Then I would encourage you to wait until Sunday when you can listen to both meditations back to back.

To begin this meditation,

I invite you to take a deep breath and close your eyes.

As you do,

Let your mind drift to the day after Yeshua's crucifixion,

The day when his disciples were left to grapple with the devastation and loss of their beloved teacher and friend.

In the wake of Yeshua's death,

The disciples likely felt a sense of hopelessness,

Confusion,

And despair.

They were left to sit with their grief and uncertainty,

Struggling to make sense of what had happened.

As you contemplate this moment,

Consider the times in your own life when you have felt lost and without hope.

Perhaps you have experienced a difficult loss or setback,

Or perhaps you have struggled to find direction or purpose in your life,

And maybe you are even in one of those moments right now.

In these moments,

It can be easy to lose sight of the bigger picture,

To feel like all is lost and that there is no way forward.

For today,

Let's simply sit in the uncertainty and lament as the disciples did.

I invite you to take a moment to offer this prayer,

Where are you God?

How could you let this happen?

Why did you let this happen?

Where are you God?

How could you let this happen?

Why?

Thank you for holding this space with me,

My friends.

May grace and peace,

Light and love be with you.

Yes, this was difficult to listen to, but important not to ignore difficult feelings as well. If you pretend that everything is okay when it’s not, it’s just exhausting and takes a toll on you. I know from personal experience.

I so appreciated this tender and relatable meditation. The practice of reflecting on times of uncertainty coupled with the lament brought up sadness, which was then followed by a release of the heavy energy. The questions of "Where are you God?" and "How could you let this happen?" are so relatable. And it acknowledges that we can have a strong faith and still face uncertainty with God all the same. What a great lesson and practice for this Holy Saturday. Thank you. 🙏🏾

It always breaks my heart thinking and visualizing Jesus being crucified.
