Good day,

My name is Melanie Kiss and I am a certified NLP coach and today I wanted to talk to you about not only focusing on your physical health but also your mental health.

I'm so pleased to see how there's such an increase of people,

Professionals that are out there who genuinely want betterment for the human race with their mental health.

Because for many years,

As long as I could remember,

There's been a huge focus on physical health,

Which is fantastic,

Don't get me wrong.

However I put a lot of emphasis on aligning the mind,

The body,

And the soul to feel that wholeness that many seem to seek or try to achieve.

And yes,

There are amazing benefits to fitness and working out,

But mental health is just as important.

There is a huge increase in people who will say that they feel amazing when working out,

Which is true,

Which is fantastic.

But how about working on that mental health as well so when you are not working out,

You do feel happy or satisfied or at peace.

Now if you've been following me,

You know that I also embrace all emotions and sensations,

Whether happy or sad.

It's important to learn how to deal with our emotions and our sensations and deal,

Not to just set them aside,

But to acknowledge them,

Embrace them,

And have tools or strategies on how to make us feel better when we're not feeling so great.

Which brings me to the mental gym.

I read this amazing article about mental gyms,

Not just physical fitness gyms,

But a place where people could learn how to practice mindfulness and have strategies to feel better mentally.

I thought,

How amazing is that?

That's exactly what people need to not just focus on their physical health,

But to work on their mental health.

So what can people do to start working on their mental health?

Well first of all,

It's not complicated,

But it does take practice just like going to the gym.

It's a small ritual that you'll start maybe on a daily basis that will last maybe just five minutes and that's fantastic if you could just start with five minutes and then move forward for long periods of time as you get better,

As you're more comfortable with it,

As it becomes almost second nature.

Now you might say,

Well,

I've never really been a gym person.

How will I do the mental gym portion of my life?

Well,

I think that it's really important to maybe go to that mental gym and learn a lot more about yourself and maybe go visit the reasons why the physical gym in you has a little more difficulty,

But that's another subject,

Right?

Really I wanted to just give you a few tips on how to get started on that mental health.

So first of all,

Learning to be in the present moment,

Just as you are here right now listening to me,

To this talk,

Or maybe another meditation,

Or maybe you're in the presence of someone and learning to totally be present with that person,

Totally be present in the conversation,

Not thinking about what you're going to say next or what you got to do later,

But really focusing on that person in front of you and being able to absorb the beauty that's in front of you in the conversation that you're having.

That is a whole practice on its own and is worth going through the steps and learning how to listen carefully,

Listen with intent,

Listen with love,

Listen without judgment,

Which brings me to judgment,

To open your perceptions and not judge others,

Not judge yourself,

But just be there with kindness and openness and compassion.

Second of all,

You want to be able to reach out to someone that you trust,

A professional that's in psychology or NLP or psychotherapy.

There's so many amazing people out there,

So many professionals ready to guide you.

You might want to take a walk in nature,

Even just for five minutes,

Just to connect yourself with nature.

That could definitely help with your mental health.

If you haven't started meditating,

It's a good way to get started on this application.

You could start very slowly with a few minutes of mindfulness as you're listening to somebody who's offering their services in meditation.

You want to do maybe some gentle movements such as yoga.

That's another amazing way to take those steps towards your mental health.

Of course,

Healthy eating is always a bonus,

Which will help your body and your mental state.

You want to surround yourself with people as well.

Of course,

It's okay to have time alone,

But to socialize,

But socialize in a way that makes you happy.

Don't go socializing with someone where you're going to leave and you're going to be stressed out,

But go and socialize.

It's very important.

As humans,

We need to socialize with people and have fun.

Have fun.

Try to let go of your work or your to-do list and just go out and enjoy yourself.

You want to also enjoy maybe a hobby that you have taken or you used to do when you were younger and maybe have lost touch to what that creative side of yourself is seeking.

Maybe listen to that inner voice that you have that will be able to guide you into finding that hobby and go and do it.

Go and do it and enjoy the time doing it.

Be in that present moment while you're doing it.

Release it.

Cultivate that moment.

These are just a few simple steps,

Strategies that don't take that much time but are quite effective to get you started in the right direction.

If you have any comments or questions,

Please leave me a note.

Leave me a comment below.

Let's have a discussion about this.

Maybe you have other tips that have helped you and I would love to hear from you.

On that note,

Have a wonderful day.
