It's one of those days.

Hello and welcome.

My name is Verna Fisher and I'm happy to bring another meditation for everyday situations to Insight Timer.

Yes,

It's one of those days.

And who hasn't been here?

There's not anything big going on,

Nothing going wrong,

No huge decisions to be made.

And maybe even the sun is shining.

And yet,

And yet for some reason,

Who knows why,

You just feel blah.

And it's so tough to push through the feeling.

And yet you recognize this is temporary and you know that you have the power within you to shift your mood.

Which is why you're here,

Right?

Choosing to be here,

Choosing to consciously take action to shift this mood.

You recognize there is power in showing up,

In being present,

In honoring the journey of your one precious life.

Here's to you in this empowering meditation to lift your spirits.

To begin,

Find your comfortable position.

Whether you choose to sit up or lie down,

Take a few moments to adjust your body so that you feel supported,

Comfortable,

And yet alert.

Close your eyes and see if everything feels right.

If not,

Simply and gently adjust your body until it is better.

And now,

Breathe.

And again.

And again.

And again.

With your physical body's comfort taken care of,

We move now into our mind,

Our thoughts,

And emotions that,

If we aren't careful,

Can carry us down a crazy path we never even knew existed.

Here's where some real work takes place.

This is your opportunity to notice what thoughts occupy your mind without your conscious permission.

Ask yourself,

What is it that has my attention and not in a supportive way?

Breathe and listen carefully.

As you step into the deep cavern of your mind,

Allow yourself to move slowly and cautiously.

In this meditation,

We are not tackling traumas or deep wounds.

We are here for the everyday doldrums,

Those beliefs or judgments that sap us of the joy in the moment.

Let yourself notice if any awareness of specific stubborn,

Unhelpful,

Or unnecessary phrases appear.

As you breathe and take this walk within,

It is most likely that you have an aha moment.

Oh yes,

You might think,

I say that all the time.

Or maybe,

Uh-huh,

I recognize that judgment.

You might even have a bit of frustration well up within you as you recognize this as a constant companion,

One you don't really like and certainly didn't invite into your day.

As you breathe and as you notice these unwelcome guests,

Ask your inner guide if these are there to provide wisdom or if they are simply habits you have acquired.

Depending on the answer,

You might choose to be reminded later,

On another day perhaps,

Of the wisdom there for you.

For our purposes here,

We choose to break free of the habitual drone of these thoughts and beliefs.

Bring a specific thought or belief into your mind's eye.

Breathing deeply with the next breath,

Blow strongly on the thought and watch it be blown away out of your energy field.

If necessary,

Blow on it again.

It is no longer in view or within your reach.

Do this for each unhelpful thought or belief you identify.

Again,

Breathe deeply to blow that thought right out of your energy field.

You will want to do this for each unhelpful thought or belief that you identify.

If there were no unwelcome thoughts or beliefs that came to you,

Go ahead and try this exercise anyway.

Perhaps placing the lackluster energy you feel there right in front of you and blow it away.

Gently open your eyes and move a bit in your seat.

If you were lying down,

Please gently move into a seated position.

With your eyes open,

Look around you.

Smile as you notice your environment.

What a gift you have been given.

Just as it all is.

Nothing to fix,

Nothing to change.

Simply present to it all.

Stand with your arms by your side and simply shake them out.

Shake your body a bit,

Bend your knees a bit,

Move your head from side to side.

And breathe.

From this standing position,

Take the next few breaths to be grateful.

Grateful you woke up today.

Grateful you are here to tend to your soul.

Grateful you showed up.

As we prepare to end this meditation,

Check in with your mood.

Has there been a shift?

If not,

Perhaps you will want to repeat the meditation.

However,

It's very likely that you feel a bit lighter and less blah.

And every little bit does matter.

You might have even experienced a more profound shift.

Whatever changes you notice,

Smile and say thank you to your inner wisdom,

Who guided you here and who is always just a breath away to assist.

Thank you for being here with me.
