This meditation will help if you suffer from anxiety or if you're not feeling safe in your body.
We'll start by finding a comfortable seat.
For this meditation,
Perhaps sitting in a chair with your feet firmly planted on the ground.
Finding a quiet space where you won't be disturbed.
And if it feels safe to do so,
Closing your eyes,
Adjusting your clothing.
And we'll take a deep breath in through our nose,
Filling your lungs completely.
Holding it for one moment,
Begin to open your mouth and exhale slowly,
Letting go of any tension.
Repeat this cleansing breath a few times.
Now let us bring our attention to our feet.
Feel them connected to the ground.
And imagine that you have roots growing from the bottom of your feet into the earth,
Grounding you.
Feel this support beneath your body.
And then gradually move your attention up your legs,
Aware of your torso,
Your arms.
All the way up to your head,
Noticing any areas of tension and consciously relax them.
And now picture a warm,
Comforting light surrounding your body.
Imagine this light extending out around you,
Six feet above you,
All the way around your energy center.
This light provides you safety and protection.
And with each breath,
You feel it expanding,
Filling you with a sense of peace.
As you inhale,
Imagine breathing in calm and safety.
And as you exhale,
Visualize releasing anxiety and stress,
Imagining these feelings dissipating into the air.
And this happens naturally as you take a breath in and you take a breath out.
And as you continue this breath,
Repeating this mantra,
I am safe in my body.
I am safe in my body.
We'll spend a few more moments focusing on our breath.
Noticing the breath as it moves in and out through the body.
Following the breath in and the breath out.
And if your mind has already started to wander,
Just know that that's exactly what the mind does.
So when that happens,
Gently bring your focus back to your breath and the light that's surrounding you.
And when you're ready,
We'll start to bring this meditation to a close.
Bring your awareness to the sounds of your room.
Bring your awareness to your room.
Bring your awareness to you meditating within this room.
Bring your palms together at heart center and take a moment of gratitude for your body,
Your breath,
And the gift of this meditation.
Notice how you feel and carry this sense of safety and calm with you throughout your day.
