One of my favorite gratitude practices is from Rhonda Byrne's book "The Magic". She takes you on a 28 day journey and on each day is a new gratitude practice. A Magic Morning is all about waking up and starting your day with gratitude. This meditation was inspired by this particular practice. Enjoy!

Hello and welcome to a magic morning.

We're gonna begin your morning with gratitude.

My name is Amy Beckler and it is an honor to have you here.

I'll begin this meditation by sharing a passage from Rhonda Byron's book,

The Magic,

Which inspired me to create this meditation.

Rhonda shares that the easiest and simplest way to ensure that your day ahead will be filled with magic is to fill your morning with gratitude.

When you incorporate gratitude into your morning routine,

You will feel and see its magical benefits throughout the whole day.

Each morning is full of opportunities to give thanks and it doesn't slow you down or take any extra time because you can do it as naturally as you go about everything that you do.

There is an added bonus to filling your morning with gratitude because your daily routines are the times when you can harm yourself the most by thinking negative thoughts without even realizing that you're doing it.

There's no room for harmful negative thoughts when your mind is focused on looking for things to be grateful for.

After this practice,

You will go into your day feeling much happier,

More confident that the day ahead will be great,

And that's when you will see the magic happen before your very eyes.

So let's begin.

It's likely that you're listening to this while just waking up and easing into the day,

And whether you are seated or lying down,

I invite you to close your eyes and connect to your body for a few moments.

I want you to notice how your body is feeling this morning,

And notice how your body is breathing itself.

And as you witness your breath,

Begin to say silently to yourself,

Thank you body,

Thank you breath.

Take a few conscious breaths in and out,

And say thank you for the fact that you are alive,

And that you've been given another day of life.

And as you begin to express gratitude,

I want you to notice the sensation of gratitude in your body as well.

Notice where you feel the felt sense of gratitude as you say thank you.

Thank you for the sleep you received.

And if you're fortunate enough to have slept in a bed with sheets and a pillow,

Feel and say thank you for this luxury and comfort.

Imagine you're stepping out of bed for the first time today,

If you haven't already,

And with each step say thank you.

Do you have a bathroom?

Thank you.

Imagine all the people who dug the trenches and laid the pipes across your country,

Through your city,

And along all the streets to your home,

So you can turn on a tap and receive beautiful clean water.

Thank you.

Imagine you reach for your toothbrush and toothpaste.

Thank you.

Thank you for the towels,

The soap,

The mirror,

And everything in the bathroom you use in the morning that makes you feel fresh,

Awake,

And ready for the day.

Imagine you start to get dressed for the day,

And take a moment to think about how fortunate you are to have clothes to choose from and wear.

Thank you.

If you have shoes and socks,

Thank you for shoes and socks.

Imagine that you're taking your first sip of water of the day,

And say thank you for this hydrating liquid.

Visualize yourself making breakfast and your favorite morning beverage to pair with it,

And say thank you for the nourishment.

Do you have air conditioning?

Thank you.

Take a moment to think of anything else that is part of your morning routine that you want to express gratitude for,

Or maybe there's someone or something in particular today you feel called to express gratitude for.

Sit with that for a moment.

Thank you.

Breathe in and out.

Feel the gratitude coursing through your body.

Carry this gratitude with you throughout the rest of your day today,

And notice what shifts for you.

Bring your awareness back to the here and now.

Opening your eyes when you're ready,

If they've been closed.

I'm wishing you a magical day,

And I thank you for joining me for this magical morning meditation.
