Hi,

Frankie here,

And welcome to this Nervous System regulation,

Settling the Storm.

This is part of the Nervous System series and is designed for moments after stress,

Intensity,

Or emotional overwhelm.

It gently guides the Nervous System into integration and steadiness once the storm has passed.

I invite you to find your comfortable position that allows your body to feel supported,

Lying down or seated,

With nothing needed to hold together.

Let your eyes close softly,

Or lower your gaze.

Take a slow breath in through the nose,

And release it out through the mouth.

Take another slightly deeper breath in through the nose,

And releasing it out,

Releasing the day.

This space is for you.

This is the space for what comes after the storm,

After intensity,

After effort,

After holding it together for longer than you should have had to.

Bring your awareness to your breath,

Noticing your breath,

Without changing it.

The body knows when the storm has passed.

Sometimes it just needs permission to settle.

Imagine now a natural landscape,

Perhaps open land after heavy rain.

The sky is clearing.

The wind is easing.

Nothing rushes the settling.

Nature doesn't snap back into calm.

Nature softens gradually.

Let your nervous system follow that same rhythm,

The natural rhythm of life,

Breathing in and breathing out.

Notice the areas of the body that still feel stirred,

Perhaps the chest,

The belly,

The shoulders.

What do you notice in your body?

What places were working to keep you safe?

You can acknowledge that now.

Silently say inwardly,

Thank you,

I can reset.

That's right,

You can reset.

With each exhale,

Imagine the wind easing,

Not disappearing,

Just loosening its edges,

Just softening.

The body doesn't need to forget the storm,

It just needs to stop reliving it.

Allow your attention to drop lower into the body,

Into the hips,

The thighs,

The legs,

Grounding downwards like rainwater soaking back into the earth,

Breathing in and breathing out.

You may notice the heart rate slowing,

The breath deepening on its own,

When the nervous system recalibrates,

When it senses stability beneath it.

Now imagine the environment growing quieter,

Sounds softened,

Movement slows,

The body mirrors what it senses,

So muscles begin to relax,

The jaw loosens,

The shoulders drop.

Silently repeat inwardly,

The storm has passed,

That's right,

The storm has passed.

Let that message settle deeply,

You are still here,

You are still whole,

You are supported by mother earth.

Now rest in the space that follows intensity,

Not empty,

Not flat,

Just steady,

Balanced,

You don't need to be on watch anymore,

Breathing in and breathing out.

Notice how calm doesn't erase what happened,

Calm integrates it,

And the nervous system learns,

Repeat,

I can experience intensity and return to ease,

That's right,

You can experience intensity and return to ease,

That is resilience,

And you are building resilience.

Stay here for a few breaths,

Nothing to anticipate,

Nothing to prepare for,

And when you are ready,

Begin to gently return,

Feeling the room around you,

The surface beneath you,

Small movements in your body,

When it feels right,

Opening your eyes softly,

Carry this sense of settling with you into your day,

Knowing that you can return here,

Releasing the storms.

Have a blessed day today,

Namaste.
