Welcome to this morning's practice.
I'm Buffy Owens and I'll be your guide.
You could do this sitting on a cushion on the floor,
Sitting supported in a chair,
Whatever feels appropriate for you this morning.
To take a moment in sitting to sense the support of the surface beneath you.
It might take a moment to sway a little bit forward and back or side to side so you can really settle into that space and place where you feel connected and supported by the earth.
Now let the crown of your head reach just a little bit towards the heavens.
Feel just a little bit of length in the neck.
You've got this soft,
Active pull from the center of the earth,
The pull of gravity,
And this gentle pull from the heavens.
And in between those two is the space of your heart.
So for the next several minutes,
To allow yourself to breathe in through your heart space as if your heart itself is breathing,
Drawing the breath to the center of your heart,
Letting that breath swirl and whirl all around the heart,
Filling in the spaces in the front and the back,
The top and the bottom,
And as you breathe out,
Breathing out from the heart space.
Just staying with this breath of breathing in and out through the heart as if your heart itself can draw in the breath,
And if thoughts come,
You can let them rise and fall like the waves of the ocean,
Returning always to the breath of the heart,
To not add to or resist any of the movements of being breathed,
Sensing the soft tugs of the heaven and the earth,
The support,
The length,
Breathing in through your heart,
Allowing the thoughts to rise and fall,
Softening the muscles of the face,
Allowing space between your teeth,
Feeling the soft tug of the heavens and the earth,
The length and the support,
Allowing yourself to be breathed by your heart.
As we transition into the sounding portion of the meditation,
To know that you'll sound with an ah down in the region of your hara,
An oh in the region of your heart,
An um in the region of your head,
To feel the vibrations rising,
Rising from that place of your instincts,
Your gut,
Your hara,
To the seat of your intuition,
Your emotion,
Your heart,
Rising all the way to the wise thinking mind of the head.
