Many of us were asked to dim our light, to not stand out. To be quiet, to be invisible. We did this to fit in. We did this to not be punished. This tapping meditation is about releasing these faulty ideas and allowing our light to shine brightly.

Welcome,

My beautiful souls.

Today's meditation is a tapping meditation,

One to bring back that light that shines so brightly within you.

And so we find ourselves in a comfortable place,

A place where we can spend just a few moments,

And we begin to tap on that karate part of the hand,

And we bring to mind some of the behaviors that we were asked to follow,

That became who we are,

A time in your life that you were asked to step back.

And I'm tapping on the side of my hand,

And I am reminded that I was asked to tone it down,

I was asked not to shine too brightly,

And so I learned to step back,

I learned to dim my light,

I learned not to stand out,

I became really good at blending in,

Looking like others,

I learned how to make sure others didn't stand out either,

And taught them how to not shine brightly,

And even though I know I learned to dim my light,

I still truly love myself,

Even though I stepped back,

I accept who I am,

And take in a deep breath,

And when you're ready,

Let it go,

And check in to see how does this resonate with you,

On a scale from zero to ten,

How do you feel about this idea of having to dim your light,

With zero being oh,

I shine so brightly,

And ten being I've dimmed my light for many years,

And let's begin to tap,

And we tap on this idea in order to bring it up and to release it,

And I tap on the inside of my eyebrows,

I learned early on not to shine too brightly,

I learned that it was not okay to shine,

And let's bring our tapping to the outside of the eyes,

I learned that it was boastful and distasteful to want to be seen,

I learned very early that it was not good to be seen,

That I needed to blend in,

And we tap under the eyes,

I learned how to push down my urges to be heard,

I learned how to push down these urges and not to be heard,

And we'll tap under the nose,

On top of the lip,

I became an expert at blending in,

At going along with others,

We're tapping on the lip,

I became an expert at blending in,

And we'll tap on the chin,

I could dress like others or appropriately enough so they would not stand out,

I learned how to fit in,

I learned the rules,

We'll bring our tapping to the collarbone,

And although it didn't feel good,

It felt better than the alternative,

It felt better than being punished for not fitting in,

And so I pushed it down,

I did what I was supposed to do,

I dimmed my light,

And we'll tap under the arm,

I learned how to dim my light,

I learned how to follow the rules,

How to fit in,

And we'll tap on the top of the head,

And now I feel congested,

I feel held back,

I don't feel like myself,

This pushing back,

This pushing down does not feel good anymore,

And rest your hand,

And let's once again take in a deep breath,

And release it out,

And check in again on that scale from zero to ten,

How are we feeling now as we think about this idea of dimming our light,

Of having to fit in,

And we'll continue to tap,

But let's tap on the idea that we can shift,

That we can change,

And maybe shine our light just a bit,

And we'll tap on the inside of the eye,

I'm tired of playing small,

I no longer want to play small,

I want to be me,

I'm tired of playing small,

And let's bring the tapping to the outside of the eye,

I want to be seen,

I want others to see me,

I'm ready to be seen,

I want to be seen,

And let's bring the tapping to under the eye,

I want to be heard,

I want to be heard,

And we'll tap under the nose,

On top of the lip,

I'm ready to step up,

I have something to say,

I do have something to say,

I'm ready to be heard,

And let's tap on the chin,

I want to shine my light brightly,

I want to shine my light for others to see,

I want to shine brightly,

And we'll tap on the collarbone,

And we check in with our bodies,

How does it feel to say that out loud,

To say out loud that I want to be seen,

I want to be heard,

I want to shine my light brightly,

And let's tap under the arm,

I'm ready to step up,

I am ready,

I'm ready to step up,

I am ready,

And let's bring the tapping to the top of our head,

I'm ready to be me,

I'm ready to be me,

And rest the hands,

And let's take in another breath together,

Releasing out,

And once again we check in with our body to see,

How is this idea resonating within our body,

Are we beginning to soften just a bit into this idea,

And no worries if not,

For many,

Many years we were taught to dim our light,

This may take practice,

Let's do some affirmations together to help us move through this,

And you may tap on the body or just say them out loud,

Maybe you'd like to tap on the heart,

I am safe to be seen,

It is safe for me to be me,

It is safe to be seen,

It is safe for me to be heard,

It is safe for me to speak up,

It is safe for me to shine brightly,

It is safe for me to shine,

I help others shine,

I can support others as they too learn to shine brightly,

I can support others,

It is safe for me to be me,

It is safe for me to be heard,

It is safe for me to shine brightly,

And imagine how bright this world would shine if all of us allowed our light to be seen,

Imagine a world where we all shined brightly,

Rest your hand and take in a deep breath,

Let it go,

Imagine a world where you shined brightly,

Imagine a world where we all shined brightly,

Let your light shine.
