Feeling connected, understood, felt, and gotten is what we all want and need so badly. It's what leads to confidence, calm, creativity, gratitude, resilience, and strength. Luckily we can feel this strong sense of connection to others without them actually being with us all the time. Here's how.

As I always say,

Get nice and comfortable in your chair or lying down or even standing if you prefer to be standing.

Standing and take a few deep breaths to become present.

And I want you to think of someone really special to you.

Maybe a family member,

A close friend,

A romantic partner.

But I want you to consider what it's like when you feel really connected to them,

Really close to them,

Really bonded and safe,

Comfortable,

To express all of your most important and deepest fears,

Worries,

Concerns,

Wishes,

Yearnings.

Think about what it's like to feel really safe and connected,

Really in touch with your feelings with this person and feeling free and comfortable and secure to talk to them about anything.

Be really spontaneous and comfortable and calm.

Feel really connected to this person even when you're not speaking.

Notice what that safety and that comfort feels like,

What that connection feels like in a deep visceral sense in the body,

Beyond words and concepts and thoughts and ideas.

Just really feeling into the experience.

You can picture that person's face,

Smiling or really engaged and listening and caring,

Attentive,

Nice,

Relaxed presence.

Really feeling into your experience so that you can express whatever's been on your mind,

What you hadn't been able to express before with other people.

Just feeling into that relief and calm in your body.

As you feel into the experience,

Perhaps your stomach or your shoulders or your forehead loosens.

Good.

And if it feels right and comfortable,

You can let yourself gently smile into the experience to deepen it even more.

You may also notice that you're already smiling.

You can notice that too.

Just letting yourself feel into the experience for a minute or two.

Good.

That's it.

Just noticing and feeling.

Picturing this person's attentive face.

Good.

Very bonded and connected.

Calm and grounded.

That's it.

Good.

Good.

Good.

That's it.

Notice the strength and the creativity that's born from this interaction.

This is what everyone needs.

This is what helps us feel safe and secure and strong,

Resilient,

Adaptive,

And creative in the world.

You can picture yourself taking this energy,

This state with you into your endeavors,

Your activities.

And you can even notice feeling the sense of connection and love,

Feeling lovable and good enough and complete and expressed,

Taking it with you into other activities and even moments of despair and stress and loneliness.

We don't always need to have that person with us to feel this sense of strength,

Loveability,

Calm,

Connection.

You can cultivate it using the powers of mindfulness,

Visualization,

Imagination.

Good.

Take a few more moments to feel into the experience and then we'll gently start wrapping up.

Hopefully so you can take this with you into the rest of your day and life.

Good.

Namaste.

Hope you enjoy the silence.
