Sunday,

A day dedicated to the sun,

Reflecting its significance in various cultures as a symbol of light and life.

We associate Sundays with rest and with its associations in various cultures as a symbol of light and life.

It's the perfect day to replenish and rejuvenate ourselves.

We mistakenly think as adults we don't always require the same amount of attention and affirmation we do as children.

But I think all humans navigating this world require those elements.

We may need them in differing ways but nevertheless they are still just as vital to our well-being at any age.

We can be neglectful of our inner children as we become adults,

As though our needs become less important and the needs of others take centre stage.

And although we may very well be the caregivers to the young or elderly,

We also need to be able to take some time to care for ourselves in meaningful ways.

If we were to shine a light on our lives and give thanks to what we have and who we are,

What would we find?

Are you in the habit of looking for the good in you and your life?

We unknowingly can be very apt at seeing our flaws and the areas of our lives that we feel need improving.

But we need to balance out the negatives with the positive.

We want to be able to have a holistic view of ourselves and our lives and not be mentally living in a slanted state.

If I were to ask you to make a list of all the things that you feel are wrong in your life and wrong with you,

I believe that you'd be able to make a list quite easily.

But if I was to ask you to list the same amount of things in your life that you love about it and that you love about yourself,

You may need a little more time.

Our brains seek safety and survival so they're designed to look out for danger and for what could possibly go wrong.

But we can get into the habit of always thinking along those lines and we miss out on all the joys and delights that surround us in our everyday lives and the traits we have within ourselves.

I would like you to take some time for yourself.

Make yourself a drink,

Go somewhere peaceful where you won't be disturbed and I want you to write out or speak out all the ways your life is filled with light and how you are also.

Name what you love about yourself.

Get detailed.

Think about your days and yourself with some attention and write or speak out loud all that you enjoy,

Like and love about your life and yourself.

This is something that we don't do that often and we should.

It reminds us to come back into the present,

To stop time traveling from the past to the future and allows us to soak up the beauty of this moment where we are,

Exactly as we are.

Open up to the wonderful feelings that thinking about these beauties that exist in your life and in yourself.

We are now going to end this lesson with an affirmation session where all you need to do is relax and let the words soak into you and soothe you and allow yourself to be replenished and revitalized for the day ahead.

Find a quiet space to sit or lie down.

Take in a full breath,

Breathe in through your nose and exhale slowly through your mouth.

Allow your shoulders to drop,

Your jaw to release and relax and allow all your muscles to let go and feel at ease.

Now I want you to imagine a warm glowing sun above you and you can see the rays of light shining onto you.

Can you imagine the feeling of warmth on your face as it beams down on you?

You can either repeat these words of affirmation to yourself out loud or fully relax and just allow the words to be spoken and taken in by you.

I am here in this moment fully present with all that I am.

My life holds unique beauty and I am grateful for the connections,

Growth and light that fill it.

I honor the journey that has brought me to this place.

I acknowledge and give thanks for the gifts within me.

I have the light of the sun within me and I emanated out into the world in my own unique way.

I am a fractal of the whole and I matter.

I am a fractal of the whole and I matter.

My life is filled with light and I am a source of light to others.

Now take a full breath and allow your awareness to come back into the room.

Remember there are light glimmers all around your day.

Look for them,

Become attuned to them,

Enjoy them.

I hope you enjoyed this meditation and if you'd like to take a look at my courses then the magic of midlife would make a great accompaniment.
