Welcome,
I'm Jocelyn.
This is a full yoga nidra.
We'll be working with remembering who we are.
So thank you so much for coming.
Yoga nidra is an effortless practice so trying to find a position where your body feels effortless.
That might be laying down or sitting back in a chair and maybe bringing some pillows or towels rolled up under your body to support your body so that it can be as effortless as possible.
You may even want to get an eye mask to block out the light.
So just closing down the eyes and just beginning to take a few deep breaths.
Inhaling through the nose,
Opening your mouth and exhaling through the mouth.
Inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth.
Inhaling through the nose and noticing the temperature of the air,
Feeling the flow of air into your nose.
Opening your mouth and sighing it out.
Inhaling through your nose and as you open your mouth and sighing it out,
Allowing your body to relax just one percent more.
Inhaling through your nose.
As you exhale,
Just allowing and inviting your body to relax just a little bit more.
Starting to sink a bit into the ground beneath you as you continue to breathe.
Allowing the weight of your body to be held,
To be nurtured by the ground beneath it.
I was listening to someone talk about breath the other day and he said as we inhale into our body we remember the soul inside of us and as we exhale we forget.
We inhale and remember and as we exhale we forget.
Which I think is such a beautiful,
Beautiful thought that at any moment we can remember in our inhale who we are,
How light and full of love we are and on every exhale we can forget to remember again.
It's a constant dance,
A beautiful dance of life.
So as you inhale,
Remembering the magic of the soul and as you exhale it's forgetting again in order to remember and I invite you to bring your awareness to the back of your head.
Inviting the back of your head to relax back and down.
The back of the neck,
Inviting your awareness there to release back and down.
The shoulders,
Inviting the back of the shoulders to release down to be held by the ground.
The back of the hips,
Inviting your awareness there to release into the nurturing hold of the ground beneath it.
The heels of the feet,
Just inviting your awareness there to release into the support beneath the heels of the feet.
I'm going to walk you through a rotation of consciousness,
Inviting your awareness to all the different places in your body.
I think of those old chemistry kits when you add one chemical to another and the bubbles begin to rise as the chemical reaction takes place.
Could you imagine as I bring your attention to different areas of your body,
Can you almost imagine that chemical reaction rising up like effervescence?
You can even imagine the colors that you love.
It might be a yellow or gold and bubbling up effervescence in that area or it might be a deep lavender magenta bubbling up in effervescence in that area.
The top of the head,
Gentle bubbling up,
Releasing out the top of the head,
Center of the forehead,
A mind's eye,
That effervescence bubbling up in whatever color you need right now.
Tip of the nose,
Upper lip,
Lower lip,
Chin,
Gentle bubbling up of effervescence,
The center of the throat,
The back of the tongue,
Gentle effervescence releasing the tip of the tongue,
Floor of the mouth,
The roof of the mouth,
The nasal passages,
A gentle effervescence bubbling up and out,
The nasal passages,
The right cheekbone,
Left cheekbone,
Right eye,
Gentle effervescence bubbling up of what's no longer needed in whatever color is calling,
The left eye,
Right ear,
Left ear,
The space between the ears,
Gentle effervescence bubbling up and out,
Releasing from the space between the ears,
Right eyebrow,
Left eyebrow,
Top of the head,
Back of the head,
The nape of the neck,
Center of the neck,
Upper back,
A gentle effervescence bubbling up,
Releasing anything that's no longer needed from the upper back,
Right shoulder,
Elbow,
Inside of the right wrist,
All five fingertips of the right hand,
That beautiful colorful effervescence bubbling up and out of each of the fingertips of your right hand,
The back of the hand,
Forearm,
Upper arm,
The center of the armpit,
The center of the chest,
The heart space,
Effortless effervescence rising from the heart space in whatever color is calling to you,
Rising up and out,
Left shoulder,
Elbow,
Inside of the left wrist,
All five fingertips of the left hand,
That colorful effervescence,
Effortless,
Rising out from all five fingertips of the left hand,
Back of the hand,
Forearm,
Upper arm,
The center of the armpit,
Center of the chest,
The right side of your ribs,
A gentle effervescent,
Effortless releasing from the right ribs,
Left ribs,
Center of the belly,
The pelvic bowl,
Effortless effervescence releasing out of the pelvic bowl in whatever color is calling,
The tailbone,
Lower back,
The right hip,
Knee,
Inside of the right ankle,
All five toes of the right foot,
Effortless effervescence,
Top of the foot,
Calf,
Thigh,
Hip,
The whole right side of the body,
An effortless effervescence releasing like bubbles,
Tiny bubble from across the right side of the body,
The right side of the body and the left hemisphere of the brain together,
Effortless effervescence,
Rising up and out,
The left hip,
Knee,
Ankle,
Inside of the left ankle,
All five toes of the left foot,
An effortless effervescence bubbling up and out,
Top of the foot,
Calf,
Thigh,
The entire left side of the body,
Tiny bubbles of effortless effervescence drawn up and out releasing from the entire left side of the body,
The left side of the body and the right hemisphere of the brain together,
Effortless effervescence,
The whole body,
The whole body,
Effortless effervescence rising up and out of the whole body,
And I invite your awareness now to your breath without changing it,
Allowing your breath to be as effortless as all of those tiny bubbles of effervescence,
Just witnessing your inhales and your exhales,
Inhaling I remember and exhaling I forget,
Inhaling whenever it comes to you,
The remembrance of your soul,
And when you exhale effortlessly allowing that knowledge to leave,
Knowing that on the next inhale you can remember again,
Inhaling to remember,
And as you exhale you're letting go and releasing,
Just watching your own breath,
Witnessing your own breath,
And as you inhale you can inhale into the heart space,
I remember,
You can exhale out from the heart space,
I release,
Inhaling your own time and pace,
I remember,
And exhaling I release,
In and out from the heart center,
This beautiful dance between remembering who we are,
And releasing back so we can remember again,
As long as there is breath in our body we can remember,
And it is a dance of joy to remember,
Just allowing your breath to go in and out in its own dance of remembering,
And releasing in its own time and place,
Being present with this beautiful gift that every inhale brings,
And this beautiful release that every exhale brings,
And I invite you to bring your awareness now to the different places in your body where your soul remembers,
Etched in the body parts,
Etched in this beautiful skin that we inhabit,
Bring your attention to all the places that are here to remind us who we are,
And might you now bring your awareness to all of the places in our body where we release,
Where we let go of those memories,
Where the river takes it downstream back to the ocean,
Where are the pathways in your body where we allow the release of all that we remember back to the ocean,
The downstream waters,
And might you bring your awareness back to all the places in our body that we remember who we are,
All of those places that are there to remind us who we are,
Who we are,
The places where when we breathe into them,
We breathe into ourselves,
Our light,
Remembering,
And might you bring your awareness back to the places where we wash and release in order to give back to the ocean,
Where we forget,
Where are the places in your body where the energy runs downstream into the ocean of forgetting,
And might you bring your awareness to both of these places,
The places where remembrance is etched into us,
And the places where the energy flows and releases back to the greater collective,
The greater ocean,
Both places in your body where we remember and we forget who we are,
A vast surface of the ocean,
The reflection of light on the ocean surface,
A faucet dripping,
An empty fruit bowl,
Ripe,
Beautiful,
Delicious apples on an old apple tree,
The lines on the palm of a hand,
The constellations in the sky,
I'm going to remain quiet for a minute,
And begin to deepen that inhale and deepen that exhale,
Inhaling and exhaling,
Deepening it just a little further,
Inhaling,
Feeling it move through your body,
And exhaling,
Feeling the body contract,
And inhaling,
Opening your mouth and letting it out with a sound,
And one last time,
Inhaling through your nose,
Opening your mouth and sighing it out,
And just allowing your fingertips and your toes to wiggle a little,
Maybe rolling your head side to side,
Bringing a hand to your chest or a hand to your belly,
Maybe even gently massaging your hands or your shoulders,
Waking your body up.
