Wild Cat And Cubs
A guided practice that begins with a short body scan. It moves into healing imagery based on wild cats and cubs. This is designed for relaxation, calming, empowering and natural healing. Bring attention to the breath, to the inflow and the outflow of your breath, as you gently close your eyes.

Wildcat and Cubs,
These planet meditations are designed for you to sit with the beautiful elements and life in all its glorious creation on our earth as you quiet yourself to be here right now.
They can be used as a metaphor as in the classic lake or mountain meditation in the mindfulness series.
They can be used to return you to your sense of oneness with the whole planet or you could simply enjoy them and relax.
I hope you can use them in a way that resonates for you.
If you have a suggestion for something in the natural world that you would like me to create a meditative moment around please feel free to contact me via email,
Instagram or Facebook.
Blessings mighty.
So taking a couple of full breaths and then I invite you to softly close your eyes.
I'm beginning to feel your breath now flowing in and out of your lungs.
Just taking a few moments here.
Becoming aware of the ebb and flow of your own natural rhythm.
Becoming aware of the softness of your breath.
Feeling it entering and leaving your whole body as you simply sit or lie.
Beginning now to notice any sensations you can feel in your body.
Beginning to notice how it feels for you in this moment.
What sensations might you notice in your body right here,
Right now?
Gently scanning slowly down your body now as you breathe.
Bringing your awareness from the top of your head down your neck,
Shoulders,
Chest,
Back,
Tummy,
Hips,
Buttocks,
Thighs,
Calves and finally feeling into your feet.
Noticing the sensations in your feet.
Breathing easily and noticing the sensations in your toes.
Perhaps your toes are touching or maybe they're apart.
Whatever you notice just becoming aware of these sensations with a sense of gentle curiosity of what you find.
And maybe you can't feel anything at all.
And that's fine too.
With nothing to do now.
Just breathing as you rest here and becoming aware of the sensations in your body.
Noticing your whole body now.
Perhaps you can sense some tingling or maybe numbness.
Perhaps there's a sense of tightness somewhere.
Just breathing in and out.
And allowing all the sensations just to be.
Bringing this kind,
Compassionate curiosity to all you might feel.
Sensing where you're body makes contact with the surface supporting you.
Perhaps your heels or calves or your shoulder blades if you're lying or pressing into the floor.
Whatever you sense just noticing and letting be.
Or perhaps you feel the backs of your legs pressing against the chair.
Your feet firmly on the floor if you're sitting.
And now bringing your awareness up through your body and into your lungs.
Noticing the feeling of the air entering and leaving your body.
Breathing in and out.
Maybe noticing the movement of your body as it fills with air.
And the movement as the air leaves again.
Perhaps you can even bring your awareness to the pause.
The pause on the in breath before you let the air go.
And the pause on the out breath before you draw new clean air in.
Simply bringing awareness to your breath.
And maybe noticing that your body knows what to do.
In every moment and with each breath.
Bringing your awareness to the sensations of your breath on your face.
Perhaps on the cheeks or just below the nose or over your chin as you breathe in and out.
What's the temperature like of your breathing on your face?
Is it warm or cool?
Maybe noticing when you let the air go.
It's warmer.
And maybe cooler when you take in a breath.
However it is for you right now just noticing.
With nothing to change or do.
Nothing to decide.
No rights or wrongs of what you find just lying here.
Supported by the ground on which you lie or sit.
Breathing naturally and noticing what's happening for you in this moment.
And now bringing your awareness to any thoughts which might be arising and not striving to stop them or push them away.
They'll come so let them arrive and watch them leave again.
As you lie here gently returning your attention to your breath.
To breathing into your body.
And now I invite you to bring into your mind the image of a wild cat.
It may be one you've seen in the world.
Or you may have seen on film.
Or maybe in a book.
Perhaps it's a wild cat of your imagination.
However your wild cat is bringing your focus now.
Onto your wild cat.
Looking into her eyes.
And seeing the deep calm courage and wisdom.
The knowing.
Maybe she's a large strong lioness.
Or maybe she's a streamlined pamper.
Perhaps she's a small feisty wild cat with tufted ears.
Or is she a tiger or a leopard.
Slipping in and out of the grasses as her cubs trot after her.
And seeing your cat in her habitat now.
And noticing how all around her is a world of constant unknown.
Each day bringing a new pattern.
A world in which she must have absolute trust in herself.
Trust to hunt and feed her cubs.
To find a partner.
And to survive her wild only with her own inborn strength and wisdom.
And the absorbed teachings of her own mother.
So sitting and breathing.
Feeling held by the surface.
And focusing on your wild cat in your mind's eye.
Looking into her eyes.
And her body seeing her strong body.
And being aware of her innate sense of courage stepping in whenever her world is turbulent and dangerous.
Around her the weather may bring violent storms or weeks of parching heat.
She may need to defeat thirst,
Exhaustion,
Predator and famine.
Yet always in her eyes is the calm inner courage and knowledge that she has all she needs to live her life as she must.
Taking each moment as it comes.
Turbulence danger.
Rest.
Play.
Travel.
Always in her eyes shines the clear,
Calm strength of life.
Life you share.
So feeling a sense of yourself and the wild cat breathing together now.
As her breath flows out the winds blowing it across the planet and reaching you as you lie or sit here supported by your cushion chair or floor.
And as you breathe in seeing yourself as the wild cat strong and calm.
With the courage and calmness that is always available to you.
Even in the most turbulent times.
Even as your world may seem to sometimes spin out of your control or the waves of your emotions may rise and fall.
Yet always inside you is the clear,
Calm courage of the wild cat.
Noticing as you breathe in and out in your own natural rhythm that as the hot air you breathe out passes back across the surface of the earth to your wild cat you and she are one here on this planet.
You have the same inner courage.
The same knowing.
No matter how all around you changes within you is always available.
A still,
Steady strength.
A trust that you can navigate your world as does she with calm and courage.
With the fire of integrity,
The stillness of the inner wisdom and the strength of love.
You carry within you this fire and courage and calm.
No matter where life takes you or how others may be with you,
Within you is this quiet,
Unchanging,
Resilient strength.
Sometimes your clouds may gather and the noise of your thoughts and emotions may deaden your senses as life brings you unknown patterns.
But in these moments as you breathe,
Feeling yourself one with the wild cat knowing,
Trusting,
Strong,
Calm,
Accepting,
Still,
Breathing.
So bringing your awareness back to your own breath now as you lie here,
Supported and breathing with the planet.
Breathing in and out in your own natural ebb and flow.
Noticing the sounds in the room again or outside and the movement of your breath and your body.
Feeling the weight of your body once more.
And when you hear the bell,
Gently open your eyes,
Moving your hands and feet and taking a slow,
Feline smile.
May you be filled with a steady courage and strength of our beautiful wild cats.
