I would like to share a Yoga Nidra with you.
This particular Nidra is for anyone experiencing emotional or physical pain.
This Nidra is a simple tool to help you build resilience and to foster an inner resource.
Your inner resource is a felt sense in your body that helps you to feel relaxed and in control of your experiences.
Practice this regularly and you will come to cultivate this resource as a space to enter,
To become unchanging and in control no matter your circumstances.
And the most important aspect of your inner resource is that it invokes a feeling of being secure and at ease,
Not only throughout your body but in your mind.
Use it at any time you feel overwhelmed or just to feel this sense of ease and well-being.
So let's settle and get comfortable.
And if you are lying down,
Just allow your body to open to the earth.
Allow your heels to rest a little wider than hips distance apart,
With your palms facing up and nothing touching your fingertips.
And if you are sitting,
Please be supported and relaxed.
So take this time to make any adjustments now so you are completely comfortable and will not have to move during the practice of this yoga nidra.
Completely supported no matter what position that you have chosen.
Welcoming in this time and this moment to become present with this nidra.
Relax your whole body.
Relax your whole body.
Sense that as you inhale,
Your body and your mind are being recharged,
Replenished.
And as you exhale,
Let go of all mental and physical tension.
Become aware of the space that your body occupies.
Begin to sense a nurturing tone to your environment,
The atmosphere,
The space around you charged with ease and healing.
And bring your awareness to the rise and fall of the abdomen.
Be aware of the body breathing.
Just allow your breath to remain effortless.
Feel the caress of the breath in the nostrils with each inhalation and exhalation.
Follow the breath to the end of the inhale and then follow the exhalation to the end of the breath.
The abdomen soft,
The chest relaxed.
Allow your breath and your attention to wander through the body.
Feeling the aliveness,
The hum or pulsation or vibration of your body.
And welcome an intention.
Maybe that intention is to be open to this experience and to allow what arises.
And state it to yourself.
Repeat it silently in your mind space.
Feeling open to this experience and to allow what rises.
Welcoming a sense of ease or well-being.
Where do you feel this sense of well-being and ease in the body?
A sense of grounding,
Of security or okayness.
And in your mind space,
Go to a place that is special for you.
Maybe this is a place in nature,
Maybe it's with loved ones,
A special place where you are totally nourished,
Supported,
Grounded and at ease.
This is an anchor that you can come back to at a moment's notice.
You are alive with sensation.
Sensation as a current running through your body and your mind.
There is no right or wrong way to practice this nidra.
So if you experience no particular sensation,
That's fine.
Just sense that also.
Please bring your awareness to the space between the eyebrows.
Deep within that space,
Deep in the brain where the pineal gland resides,
Your third eye.
And sense there a point of light,
Like a luminous star,
A starlight point of light that glows and hums in that space between the eyebrows.
And as you relax,
Sense the breath and the presence of energy and light in that space.
That is a light of healing.
And wherever that light touches,
The energy of healing flows.
Now bring awareness to the throat center and sense the energy of the light there.
And as that light travels to your right shoulder joint,
The point of light follows your awareness.
The right elbow joint,
The breath and presence and light,
Body and mind effortless.
The right wrist,
The tip of the right thumb,
Point of light.
Tip of the index finger,
The middle finger relaxed.
The ring finger,
The little finger,
Point of light.
Right wrist,
Right elbow,
Right shoulder joint,
Throat center,
Point of light,
Whole body effortless and at ease.
Provide the light to the left shoulder joint,
The left elbow,
Left wrist,
Point of light travels and flows at your will,
Healing,
Soothing,
Clearing,
Relaxed.
Tip of the left thumb,
The index finger,
The tip of the middle finger,
The ring finger,
The little finger,
The left wrist completely relaxed,
Left elbow,
Left shoulder,
Throat center,
Deep in the throat center,
Let go,
Be open.
No trying,
Just allow that light to travel and move with my voice.
Now bring that beautiful healing light to your heart center and allow it to bathe you in peace and healing.
The center of the right chest,
Heart center,
Point of light,
Sense the presence of awareness in the heart.
Your left chest,
Point of light,
Heart center,
Allow that light to travel to your navel center.
See or feel the point of light,
The top of the sacrum bathing you in its warmth and light.
The right hip joint,
The right knee,
The right ankle,
Tip of the big toe,
The second toe,
Third,
Fourth,
Fifth,
Point of light,
The right ankle joint,
The right knee,
The right hip joint,
Point of light,
The top of the sacrum,
Relax,
Nothing to do,
The left hip joint,
The left knee,
Left ankle,
Tip of the big toe,
Second toe,
Third,
Fourth,
Small toe,
Ankle joint,
Knee joint,
Left hip point of light,
Top of the sacrum,
Navel center point of light,
The heart center,
The throat center,
Deep in the brain,
Relax the whole body,
Starlight point of light in that space between the eyebrows.
Now see all the points at once,
Like twinkling stars in the night sky.
All of these points vibrant,
Awake,
Luminous.
The body has become a constellation of points of light.
Now sense the space between these points,
Pure undiluted spaciousness.
You are space and points of light.
Sense the breath moving and swirling through that space and rest in the spaciousness.
All the while sensing that okayness,
That well-being,
That ease of being you.
This is your inner resource.
Never forget how powerful you are.
You choose your thoughts.
Anytime you need to,
Come back here to your inner resource where all is okay,
All is safe,
All is well.
Sensing your whole body,
Starlight point of light,
Constellation of points of light.
All is okay,
All is safe,
All is well.
If it is time for sleep,
Allow this felt sense of safety to lull you into deep rest.
And if you intend to arise from this nidra to resume your day,
Please take your time to come back into full awareness,
