Welcome to this guided meditation to learn to sit in stillness and to actually love and savor the sweetness of not doing anything,
Of just being,
Of just being a human being.
We have so much going on in our day,
So much information that we take in all the time,
Readily available to us at any moment,
And sometimes we get sucked in.
How do we break out of that?
How do we break away from the constant influx of information?
The first step is to become aware when we are getting sucked in.
When you're aware,
You have a choice.
When you're aware,
You can choose to stay in that moment of being sucked in,
Or you can choose something different.
You can choose to put your phone aside and not take in any more information to bog down the mind.
You can choose to be still and to clear the mind and to just sit for a while and allow this clearing to happen.
And since you're here,
You've made that choice to clear the mind and start enjoying just being without having to do anything,
Without feeling the need to be productive,
To feel worthy.
There's nothing to prove to anyone,
Not even yourself.
In this moment,
You can choose to get out of the maze and well-worn groove of thinking that being productive and constantly doing is a good thing.
You can change directions and start turning the wheels to create a new groove in your journey to the groove of just being,
Of not always having to do or produce anything,
To feel worthy,
To feel a value.
When we take the pressure off of not having to do,
We can be in stillness more easily.
However,
For some of us,
Sitting in stillness is actually quite hard to do nothing,
To have nothing coming in.
We get bored and our stuff might come up.
So we tend to turn to media and other things to keep our minds busy.
But for this moment,
We're going to try and sit in stillness.
Let's start by doing absolutely nothing right now,
Right where you are.
All you need to do is be a human in your own body and let it breathe.
Your mind is going to do what it normally does,
Which is to wander with thoughts.
Come back to focus on your breathing and notice how you're breathing.
Our breath can be the anchor for us to be just in this moment because it's a constant.
So long as we're alive,
We're breathing.
So notice how you're breathing,
Without judgment,
Because that's a thing that most of us tend to do by default,
To judge something as good or bad.
Can we step out of that?
Rise above and just notice the breath.
Notice how it feels as you inhale through the nostrils.
The temperature of the air that flows in and out of you.
Notice where the breath goes in your body.
What rises and falls as you inhale and exhale.
Now to further relax the body,
Take an inhale into the belly and let the exhale come out slowly.
Try to lengthen each exhale,
Letting it drag out longer than the inhale.
This helps calm our nervous system down,
Letting our body know that it's okay,
That it's safe.
And now try to double the count of the exhale.
Maybe inhaling for three and exhaling for six.
And then try to allow a pause after the exhale.
Pausing in stillness before you inhale again.
And as you exhale,
Can you imagine exhaling any thoughts out of your head?
Any time a new thought appears,
Allow it to flow out on the exhale.
Now we'll anchor ourselves in this space.
Imagining in your solar plexus a long cord that's coiled up on both ends.
On the bottom end,
The cord uncoils and travels straight down,
Digging deep into Mother Earth.
And as this cord reaches down to the center of the Earth,
It hooks on to the center of the Earth.
Lock it in and feel anchored into the core of the Earth.
On the other end of the cord,
The coil unfurls straight up your spine,
Through the crown of your head,
Up through the sky,
All the way up,
Up,
Up to the center of the Sun.
Once it reaches the center of the Sun,
It hooks on and locks into the center of the Sun.
Feel anchored here,
Right in between the center of Heaven and Earth.
And now feel a line coming out the front and back of your heart space.
A line going straight through front and back.
And now feel a line coming out of your left and right sides.
Straight through your left and right side.
Straight through your front and back.
And straight through,
Up and down.
Like a six-pointed star.
And imagine this bright light at the center of the star in your heart space,
Shining brilliantly out to the world.
You,
Your soul,
Your spirit,
Are a bright star,
An energy,
Enclosed within a human body,
But a bright star nonetheless.
Can you be here with the feeling of being a star,
Shining bright through all six points,
Still anchored in through all six points?
Can you bask in the stillness and the glory of being a star?
