It is so easy to become disconnected from our authentic selves as we make our way through our individual life journeys.

There are a myriad of distractions,

Expectations,

Habits,

And external pressures that make us lose ourselves.

This Yoga Nidra practice is designed to assist you in grounding to the present moment and reconnecting with your authentic self,

The part of you that exists beneath labels,

Roles,

Limiting beliefs,

And self-imposed limitations.

If you happen to be in a time of transition,

Change,

Or feeling lost,

This meditation will be especially helpful in guiding you to reconnect with the essence of who you are.

This is a safe space where you can let go and simply be.

Begin by lying down in a comfortable position where you can feel fully supported by the earth beneath you.

Feel free to use props like a bolster,

Blankets,

Pillows.

When you're ready and you've found a comfortable position,

Close your eyes and take a few breaths.

With each exhale,

Let go of tension,

Thoughts,

Distraction.

Allow yourself to be here,

Fully present.

Notice your body resting on the surface beneath you,

Supported,

Safe.

This is your time to reconnect with yourself,

To tune in to your own energy,

And to release anything that feels heavy,

Stressful,

Tense.

For now,

Release all labels,

Roles,

And any expectations.

You are simply here,

Open,

And present.

For this practice,

I'd like to invite you to set an intention that resonates with your desire to connect with your true self.

Some examples might be,

I am connected to my authentic self,

Or I am aligned with who I am meant to be.

Choose an affirmation that reflects your wish for grounding and self-connection.

This will serve as a quiet thread that can be pulled throughout this practice.

Once you've chosen your intention,

Repeat it three times.

Allow it to settle deeply into your consciousness.

Trust that this intention will guide you through this practice.

Now,

We will move through a scan of the body,

Relaxing each part and grounding more deeply into the present moment.

Begin by bringing awareness to your right hand.

Notice the right thumb,

The first finger,

The second finger,

The third finger,

The fourth.

Feel the entire right hand soften,

Releasing any tension.

Now move to the right wrist,

The forearm,

The elbow,

The upper arm,

The shoulder.

Allow the whole right arm to relax completely.

Bring your awareness to the left hand now,

The left thumb,

The first finger,

The second finger,

The third finger,

The fourth finger.

Notice the whole left hand soften and release.

Now move to the left wrist,

The forearm,

The left elbow,

The upper arm,

And the shoulder.

Allow the whole left arm to feel heavy and supported.

Bring your attention to your right foot now,

Your right big toe,

The second toe,

The third toe,

The fourth toe,

The fifth toe.

Let the whole right foot soften and release.

Now move to the right ankle,

The shin,

The right calf,

The right knee,

The thigh.

Let the entire right leg relax,

Soft and grounded.

Now shift to your left foot,

Bringing awareness to the big toe,

The second toe,

The third toe,

The fourth toe,

And the fifth.

Relax the entire left foot.

Move now to the left ankle,

Your shin,

The left calf,

The knee,

And the thigh.

Let the whole left leg soften and release,

Grounding deeply into the earth.

Both legs now feel fully grounded,

Heavy,

And supported.

Now bring your awareness to your sacrum,

Your lower back,

The middle back,

And the upper back.

Notice where the spine meets the skull.

Allow the entire spine to soften and relax fully.

Move your awareness to the abdomen now,

Noticing the gentle rise and fall with each breath.

Release any tightness here.

Soften the chest now,

And release any heaviness here.

Relax the neck and throat,

Allowing the breath to flow freely.

Soften the jaw,

The cheeks,

The eyelids,

The forehead.

Feel your entire face soften as though releasing any tension or masks.

Bring your awareness to the crown of your head now,

And feel the entire body from the top of your head to the tips of your toes.

Grounded,

Open,

At ease.

Now bring attention to the breath.

Simply observe it as it flows naturally in and out,

Bringing you more deeply into the present moment.

With each inhale,

Imagine that you are drawing in a sense of grounding,

Connecting to the earth beneath you.

With each exhale,

Release anything that feels heavy,

False,

Or out of alignment.

Take what resonates,

Leave what doesn't.

Inhale grounding,

Exhale release,

Inhale connection,

Exhale anything that is not true to you.

Let the breath create a steady rhythm,

Anchoring you to your own energy,

Guiding you closer to your authentic self.

Now,

In your mind's eye,

Imagine yourself standing in a beautiful,

Majestic forest.

As you look up,

You are met with a myriad of greens,

Leaves,

Moss,

Ferns,

Ivy.

The air around you is fresh and crisp.

The trees that surround you are tall and wise,

Their roots reaching deeply into the earth.

Everything around you feels calm,

Grounding,

And safe.

As you stand in this forest,

Feel your energy begin to settle,

As if roots are extending deep into the earth,

Anchoring you to a steady well of strength,

Stability,

And truth.

Now,

Imagine the sun rising just over the horizon.

It is gentle and warm.

The sun's light is filtering through the trees and softly meeting your skin.

Bit by bit,

As the sun climbs higher,

The light spreads,

Brushing over more of your body.

Allow this light to expand gently,

Filling your chest,

Your entire torso,

And radiating outward through your arms,

Legs,

And head.

This light connects you to your true self,

The part of you that deeply knows who you are and what you need.

As you rest here,

Simply be present with this light.

You don't need to do anything now,

Just be in this moment.

Feel yourself connecting with your own essence.

You are aligned with your true nature,

Grounded and steady.

Trust that this light is always with you,

Guiding you,

Connecting you to your own truth.

Rest here for a few moments,

Feeling the calm,

Strength,

And authenticity that this light brings.

You may find it helpful to repeat your intention here as you integrate this feeling into your consciousness.

Now,

Gently bring your awareness back to your breath.

Feel the rise and fall of your abdomen.

Notice the steady rhythm of each inhale and exhale.

Begin to gently bring small movements back into the body,

Wiggling your fingers and toes.

Notice how the surface feels beneath you,

And become aware of the room around you.

Take a deep breath in,

Fully expanding the stomach and the chest.

Exhale fully,

Releasing all of the stale air in your lungs.

Take a moment to silently repeat your intention.

Trust that this connection to your true self will stay with you,

Supporting you,

Grounding you,

And guiding you as you move forward.

When you are ready,

Slowly open your eyes and return to the present moment.

When you have finished with the meditation,

You may find it helpful to grab a journal and jot down some thoughts that came up throughout this time.
