We all need a balanced view about the multitude of good, bad, and routinary experiences. Some of us tend to selectively concentrate on the presence of difficult events while taking for granted pleasant and successful experiences. A pessimistic outlook lets us miss or fail to appreciate our strengths, abilities, and what we achieve with them. This practice allows you to cultivate a balanced and healthy outlook that embraces and respects constructive qualities and achievements.

Welcome to Active Meditation.

Coping with chaos.

Creating a mindful relationship with society and politics.

Part 3 of 3.

Creating a balanced outlook.

When we seek to overcome the interference of the turmoil in mass consciousness,

We begin this work by becoming thoroughly centered in the very core of our being.

In the center of awareness where we can remain calm,

Observant,

And able to notice,

Without feeling,

The traces of anger,

Fear,

Or disappointment that often swirl around us.

Sometimes in our emotions,

Often out there,

In others,

And mass consciousness.

To help this process of detaching from outer negativity,

Let's recall the image of the slowly spinning wheel.

We stand in the very center of this wheel,

Watching the outer events slowly turning about us,

Watching our emotions and thoughts slowly swirling around us.

We remain unmoving,

Quietly observing outer changes and disturbances in our world.

As we place ourself in this focal point,

We appreciate that this position in the center also connects us with the power,

Understanding,

And the life and love of our higher self.

Take a few moments to recognize this connection.

It is already present in the building.

We strengthen our bond with these powers by relaxing more and being thankful for the opportunity to improve this connection.

We allow these energies to quietly add themselves to our thoughts,

Feelings,

Desires,

And intentions.

We sense the enriching and renewing power of our higher self.

It is with these energies,

These perspectives,

And safety that we can mobilize our potentials of strength and understanding.

To rise above the negativity about us at a distance.

To recognize that we have access to the power and insights that can free us from the outer distress,

Discouragement,

And resentment.

In this state of power,

Safety,

And understanding,

We realize that our life and experiences are much more than any current or recent distress.

For we are the sum of all our potentials,

All our strengths and skills,

All of our past,

Present,

And future experiences.

We bring all these forces to support us whenever any negative situation comes into our material experience.

Let's view a difficult emotional experience from the past,

From the news,

In our current meditative state.

Our attention focused in the center of our wheel of consciousness,

Aligned with our higher self.

Now,

Search for and retrieve an experience from the past,

From the news,

That produced a reaction in you.

Anger,

Fear,

Or disappointment,

Negative emotions.

On this occasion,

One or all of these negative emotions were triggered by a person or event in the news,

Out there.

I'll be quiet while you locate that moment.

Notice that our emotions arise at the outer edge of our wheel,

While we are at the center,

Observing with our higher self.

Now that we have this incident in mind,

We ask our self,

Do we really have any control over this event,

Any influence over this person,

This situation?

It is out there,

In the news,

At the edge of our wheel.

We realize that we have little or no power or authority over this individual or in these circumstances.

We did not cause this event.

However,

Our emotions were triggered.

Our personality reacted at the periphery of our wheel.

We realize that these emotions are not who we really are.

They are an impermanent part of our being,

A temporary manifestation in our personality.

Emotions and feelings appear in our consciousness and then,

Eventually,

They disappear.

From the center of this wheel,

In communion with our higher self,

We can control our emotions with compassion and understanding.

We can soothe our feelings as a parent calms an upset child.

Do this now.

Let's invoke the compassion of our higher self,

Who is with us at the center of the wheel.

Let this peace build up now.

Now see,

Feel,

Or think about this benevolent energy moving from us,

At our center,

Up to the edge of the wheel,

To our reactions from an event or person that has triggered our negative emotions.

We soothe our emotions and feelings as if we were calming an agitated child.

I'll be quiet while we practice this.

We can always return to the center of our wheel of consciousness,

To be in communion with our higher self.

It is here we can soothe our feelings,

Talk to our emotions as a parent talks to and calms an upset child.

This wheel is our oasis,

Where we go to deal with our reactions to the intrusions of mass consciousness and other people as they impose on our well-being.

From now on,

We can continue to expect our inner peace and strengths,

Our inner confidence and positive expectations to be a steady influence in our personality and daily activities,

For we are never just our worries or frustrations.

These feelings are only a temporary event.

We view them as a small fragment within our greater strength,

Within our power to control our feelings.

We appreciate the greater peace and knowledge that we bring to every finite experience.

As we rest in this understanding,

We add to our ability to see our self in a new light,

As being stronger,

More resourceful,

One who has the capacity to call on the powers of the best in our human nature and to invoke the powers of our higher self.

Both can provide the power to rescue us from unnecessary fear,

Resentment,

Discouragement and helplessness.

As we have experienced being in the center of our wheel of awareness,

We now know how to find our inner strengths to lift us away from external agitation and distress,

Agitation and distress of our own making,

Agitation and distress in mass consciousness.

Our inner strengths are always available to us.

We lose them only by being distracted by outer turmoil and confusion.

Our inner strengths are always there for us,

Ready to lift us above the disturbances and restore our sense of peace and safety.

It is from our center of power and peace,

From the center of our wheel of consciousness,

That we can work to transform our distress,

Reform our outlook and restore our sense of control and confidence.

We understand this is the nature of our inner being,

Our higher self,

The foundation of who we are designed to be,

The part of us that has the strength to restore our self to the strong,

Peaceful and kind person we are meant to be.

We are designed to take this peace and self-control into all of our daily activities.

Reflect on the meaning of these thoughts and experience for a few more moments,

Allowing the subtle changes to take place in our beliefs and expectations.

Rest in this awareness,

This peace,

In this secure and safe place of consciousness.

Be aware of how our mind is changing in subtle ways as we experience our wheel of consciousness.

We adjust our priorities,

Our thoughts,

Feelings and desires to honor our higher self,

Our principles and our responsibilities.

Now it is time to return to full waking consciousness,

To time and space.

We bring with us this strong and peaceful state.

We bring the knowledge that we have made significant progress in developing a working relationship with our higher self,

The real I AM.

I am aware.

I am.

Awesome. This is a wonderful meditation to stay centered and not let our emotions get the better of us in situations we cannot control. Thank you for this.
