This short meditation invites you to be present with and acknowledge a part of you is experiencing pain. It might be some kind of physical discomfort or perhaps an emotional wound. We all experience pain, but it is important to remember that parts which are hurting, are just parts of us and we are still whole despite these parts being painful. This meditation encourages you to approach your sore part tenderly using body awareness and breath techniques.

We all experience pain in some way in our lives.

When you are feeling pain or hurting,

You might experience strong feelings towards that part of you which is sore.

This painful part might be physical.

For example,

You might have an injury,

Recurring pain,

Or some other form of discomfort.

Or you might have an emotional wound that is causing you pain.

And perhaps you feel angry towards that part of you which is sore,

Or annoyed at yourself or someone else for causing the pain.

You might be worried about how long it is going to be hurting for,

Whether it will ever heal.

In this short meditation,

I invite you to acknowledge your pain,

But perhaps approach it differently,

More tenderly.

You could try to embrace the sore part of you,

Wrapping your arms around it gently,

Remembering that this painful part is just one part of you.

You are still whole,

Even though this part is hurting right now.

I invite you now to take a moment to feel into your body.

Notice and feel any parts of you that might be tender,

Sore,

Or in pain.

Notice the area around you that is sore,

Maybe you're experiencing just slight discomfort,

Or maybe there's a part of you that's really uncomfortable.

Maybe there's nothing physically hurting.

Perhaps there's somewhere inside of you which is hurting in some way.

Take a few breaths to feel and sense whatever part of you is tender or sore.

With each breath in,

Sense the beautiful nourishing oxygen which is filling you up,

And then your body gradually softening as this air is gently dispelled.

As you inhale,

Perhaps you could send that nourishing breath towards the part of you that feels painful,

Imagining your breath bringing relief,

Healing,

And love to that area.

Spend a few breaths here,

Just consciously breathing into that part.

As you breathe here,

Gently,

You might like to ask this hurting part what it needs right now.

Does it need a soothing stroke of your hand?

A hug?

Maybe it needs some kind words.

Is there anything you could say in this moment?

Perhaps it's okay to be sore.

You could say,

I'm here.

Rest now so you can recover.

I love you.

I accept you.

Even though you are hurting.

Spend as long as you need here,

Giving your tender attention to this painful part.

And when you are ready,

Slowly and gently transition back into the space you are in.

You might like to check in with how you are feeling as a whole now.
