This is a meditation for embracing change.

Many times in our lives we will be called to let go of certain things that we have in our lives to create space for something new,

Something better,

Something more aligned with who we are becoming.

And although we can see that this is something great and exciting that is calling us forward,

It can also be so challenging and scary.

And so in this meditation you're going to come back to yourself,

Come back to the truth that everything is unfolding exactly as it's meant to and lean back into self-trust so that you can let go of whatever it is that's no longer serving you and create the space that you need to move forward to become a more expansive,

Vibrant,

Authentic version of yourself.

So whenever you're ready just taking a moment to slowly begin to lower your gaze and then gently close down your eyes.

Feeling your sit bones on the chair or the ground beneath you,

Using this as an anchor to help you cultivate safety in this moment and release whatever tension it is that you've been holding on to,

Allowing yourself to be fully supported here and now.

And just beginning to take a big deep breath in through your nose,

Bringing that air up,

Holding it at the top for a moment,

Maybe taking one more little sip in before you begin to slowly exhale that air out through your mouth and when your lungs feel empty,

Holding it for a moment at the bottom.

Again,

Breathing in through your nose,

Holding it at the top and exhaling slowly out through your mouth,

Holding it at the bottom.

And one final time,

Really feeling that cold air come in through your nose,

Feeling your ribs expand and holding it there,

Holding in that expansion,

Taking one more little sip in and then slowly releasing out through your mouth,

Feeling your rib cage contract,

Feeling the strength,

Your abdominal muscles holding you here as you hold at the bottom.

Then slowly just beginning to bring your breath back into its normal pattern.

And I want you to imagine yourself standing at the edge of a flowing river.

This river represents change,

Constant,

Inevitable and ever moving.

I want you to notice how the river is both calm,

Flowing,

Peaceful and also strong,

Resilient,

Just like you.

Notice how it bends,

Creating formation in the land and the rocks.

Notice how at some places it's going faster and some places slower.

And notice the sparkle of the sun on the water,

Noticing its beauty and magic,

Just feeling into the energy of the water.

Feeling into how beautiful and exciting it can be to move forward,

To change directions,

To move with the flow of life.

And as you embrace the beauty of the river that you're looking at,

I want you to see yourself choosing to step in and feel the water guide you gently forward,

And releasing any resistance that you have to the shifts and changes and turns that are coming your way.

Maybe envisioning yourself,

Immersing yourself more deeply into this water,

Just allowing this stream,

This flow of water to move through you.

To move with you.

Cleansing you of any resistance,

Fear,

Doubt of where you are going.

Knowing that at the end of a river always leads to a bigger body of water,

Something more expansive.

Trusting that you're being led to exactly where you're meant to go.

And maybe just envisioning yourself beginning to float on your back in this water and just being taken wherever it is that you're meant to go.

And as you do so,

Releasing the need to control or to grip onto anything.

Knowing that whatever stays with you is meant to be there.

Whatever leaves was never yours to begin with.

Knowing that no matter where you go or what you do or what you see,

The constant here is you.

You get to be with yourself the entire ride.

And that is your power.

You are your power.

And you begin to feel that the stream is slowly coming to a stop.

And you put your feet back into the water,

Standing up now and just noticing where it is that you are.

Maybe now coming out of the river.

Coming back onto stable land and just seeing yourself begin to sit down,

Whatever this land looks like.

Just noticing what's here.

Noticing if you feel lighter.

Noticing what's changed within you.

Noticing if you feel lighter.

And as you exhale,

Just letting go one more time of any of the fear or doubt or need to control.

Trusting in the journey and direction of your life.

Coming back to the truth that your strength lies in your ability to be gentle and flow with whatever life brings you.

Just taking some breaths here,

Wherever it is that you've landed.

Being here now,

Grounded into the land beneath you.

And knowing that this river,

This ever-flowing force of life,

It's always here.

And that there will be many times in your life when you'll be asked to step back into this river and to trust yourself,

To trust life.

To trust the world around you.

And instead of resisting that,

To be excited about that.

Excited about all of the places that you're going to get to go and see and the different things that are awaiting for you at each place.

Knowing that you're always here with yourself to experience the magic of life.

Knowing that you're always being supported and guided even if you're struggling to feel that way now.

Taking one more moment to tune into your sit bones on the chair,

The ground beneath you.

Locking yourself into this present moment,

Feeling grounded in exactly where you are,

Knowing that it's ever-changing and ever-evolving,

But that your power comes from being able to tune into the sensation of feeling grounded right here.

Breathing that in through your nose.

And as you exhale,

Just letting go,

Surrendering to exactly where you are.

Staying here in this space for however long it is that you need to relax and ground fully.

But whenever you're ready,

You can also feel free to open your eyes and take on whatever life has in store for you today.

I related with the river’s constant change and the slowing down into a larger body of water. I recently moved onto a riverbank from a deeply rooted place upstream where I had stayed in the same place longer than anywhere else! This meditation will be one that I will return to often as a reminder of change. From now on, when I look up from my desk, out onto the river, it will remind me of this topic of change! Thank you! 🙏🏻
