A Walking Meditation Practice For Cultivating Presence
by Alyra Hudson
This guided walking meditation draws on the Buddhist practice of kinhin, the formal tradition of bringing meditative awareness into movement, using a four-part mantra: lift, raise, place, shift to anchor attention to each step and cultivate present-moment awareness. The meditation closes with a brief standing stillness to notice what has shifted, both at the level of the physical body and the more subtle energetic body. This track is well suited for anyone working with stress, mental restlessness, or difficulty staying present. It can be practiced outdoors or indoors on any walking surface. Keywords: walking meditation, kinhin, Buddhist meditation, mindful movement, mantra meditation, present moment awareness, Vipassana, stress relief, mental clarity, grounding, mindfulness for beginners
