In this practice, you will move intuitively, listening to your body and expressing how it wants to move. You will also explore releasing what no longer serves you, inviting in what’s next, and allowing compassion for yourself through movement. There is no right or wrong way to move. This practice helps to relieve stress, calm your nervous system, and reconnect with your body. There are five songs, along with vocal prompts and plenty of space for your exploration. I recommend practicing on hands and knees, but you can be in any position you find comfortable. You may want to have a blanket and pillow nearby, as the last song is for relaxing and integrating. Welcome to this movement practice for transformation in midlife.

This practice will create space to reconnect with your body's wisdom,

Release what no longer serves you,

And start to welcome in the next version of yourself.

Through mindful and intuitive movement,

We will ground the nervous system and support you to feel and move through the complex emotions that can arise during this stage of life.

There will be five songs and I'll give you short prompts in between songs to allow you to deepen your exploration on your own.

I recommend using a mat and practicing on your hands and knees so that you can explore the full range of motion of your spine.

But of course you can practice seated or lying down if you prefer.

You may wish to have a pillow or blanket nearby for relaxation at the end.

Let's begin.

Coming to your mat,

Close your eyes,

And start to move however your body wants to move.

If you only feel like moving your fingers or your toes,

That's totally fine.

Just listen to your body and allow it to move however it wants to move.

Feeling in to how your body wants to release.

If you notice an area of tension,

Move in ways that might welcome an opening or a stretch.

But also inquiring how can you let go of what no longer serves you.

There's no right or wrong way to do this.

Simply listen,

Feel,

And let go.

And allow your body to lead.

You may wish to rise into a standing position.

And move in ways to clear out old energy and invite in what's next.

You may want to shake your arms,

Stomp your feet,

Or make sounds.

Clearing out old energy,

Opening to possibility.

Bring your attention to your heart.

Let your movements carry the energy of compassion for yourself.

And let compassion move through you.

Imagine your entire body filled with compassion for you.

Let your movements become smaller and smaller until you become still.

And come on to your back to rest and relax and integrate.

Keeping your eyes closed,

Visualize the room around you.

Notice the temperature of the air on your forehead.

Any light or darkness behind your closed eyes.

You can wiggle your fingers and bring your thumbs to your index fingers.

And press them in small circles.

And then repeat that with each finger.

Lightly stroke your forehead and down your cheeks and throat.

And your arms.

And when you're ready,

Open your eyes.

Thank you for being here and practicing with me today.

Namaste.
