So let's do our meditation.
Relax down into your body,
Let the flesh relax around your bones.
Start to feel a sense of comfort,
Or a sort of coming home or a refuge when you turn up within yourself and the abstraction of the mind starts to calm down and you just settle into the simplicity of just being here.
There isn't anything else.
Let yourself settle into the space that you occupy,
Into your own space.
Settle like a mountain.
Feel your heart.
Relax into your heart,
Even if your heart is not settled now.
It's only not settled on account of the pebbles and rocks we have thrown in the pond.
But as soon as we stop,
Just turn up without adding or taking from the moment,
Our heart starts to settle back to its natural state.
There are two lights in the heart.
There is the light of the mind,
Which is a reflection of the quality of the mind,
Moment to moment.
And there is the clear light of awareness itself,
Which is luminous,
Transparent,
Clarity.
The light of the mind obscures the light of awareness in the same way that the clouds obscure the clarity and vastness of the sky.
Let your heart settle like water.
When we are truly equanimous to our experience,
Either taking or adding to it,
Not disturbing it or being disturbed by it,
Our mind becomes mirror-like.
But awareness is always mirror-like.
It is never not mirror-like.
It has never been impinged upon,
Disturbed,
Disrupted by anything that it has experienced.
It is always endlessly rested,
Effortlessly and at peace within itself.
When I ask you to tune in to the stillness of the room,
You use the stillness of your heart to feel the stillness around you.
When you use a calm and equanimous mind to try and feel in the heart the stillness of the room,
You feel stillness.
And a sense of inner stillness comes upon you.
But when you feel the stillness of the room in the clear light of awareness itself,
You realize that that stillness itself is a sky-like,
Endless clarity itself.
That it is the same light that arises in the heart that is everywhere.
It is not one light in our heart and another light externally.
It is the same clear light that is the very ground of everything.
This is the mother and daughter clear light.
The one that abides in your heart is the daughter of the one that is everywhere.
That we are a momentary expression of a single process that is expressing itself endlessly everywhere in myriad ways.
There is no separation between us and what we are experiencing.
It is a single process.
It is only the mind and the idea of ourself that arises within it,
That creates the sense that it is me,
Separate from what I am experiencing.
It is only the mind and our fixation with it that obscures the true ground of our being,
Which has seamlessly,
Endlessly been connected to everything.
There is nothing to add.
There is nothing to take.
There is no resolution to come to,
No working anything out.
These are all the fixations of the mind.
They are distractions.
It is vanity.
Your true nature is not in conflict.
It never has been.
It is always rested effortlessly within itself in a state of profound peace and love.
Rest effortlessly.
That clear light that is the very ground of all things,
That is the very ground of your being.
Leave everything as it is.
There is no judgement,
No rejection and no clinging.
That state of pure love does not favour one being over another,
Does not judge.
It is boundless.
Everything everywhere is a pure reflection of that love and the pain of not knowing it.
There is no judgement.
Beyond the arising and passing of your mind and its display,
Unmoved,
Untouched by it,
Not part of it,
Not created by it,
Not dependent upon it,
Your true nature rests effortlessly within itself and it is not in conflict.
It is our perceived need to place our idea of self in the centre of our experience that creates our suffering,
That obscures the perfection of the creative process that we are a reflection of.
It is nothing but vanity when we can let it go.
That one thing that creates that sense of separation is gone.
And with it all our conflict.
Just let go.
Just let go.
May all beings in all directions,
Without exception,
Come out of confusion and suffering and find real peace.
