Healing Yourself Using Meditation & Mindfulness - For Mild Pain & Injury
by Boom Shikha
I have started using Meditation As Medication (or instead of), in certain minor situations, like a mild cut or bruise, PMS pain, a viral infection, or day-to-day stomach, or back pain. Healing yourself using the power of your mind is something that many people speak about, and I wanted to actually put that into practice. Please note: This audio is ripped from a video blog.

Hey guys,
I hope that you guys are doing amazing wherever you are in the world.
My name is Boom Shikha and I'm so grateful that you guys are listening,
Following,
Subscribing and all that good stuff.
In this one I wanted to speak to you guys about healing yourself using meditation.
It's something that I'm actually really just experimenting with at the moment and so I just wanted to kind of share with you guys what I do because I thought it might be interesting for you to try it yourself as well.
Maybe perhaps you're already doing that and so it would be really interesting to share stories about how we both,
All of us are healing ourselves using meditation.
Now of course I'm not a doctor and I'm not saying that we do not need doctors or that we do not need allopathic medicine.
I'm not saying homeopathy is the only way or natural medicine is the only way.
We definitely need surgery in a lot of cases.
If you've broken an arm you're not going to heal it by the power of your mind and if you have cancer,
I mean sometimes,
A lot of times you do need therapy.
So I'm not an expert in that regard at all and I'm not saying that allopathic medicine is just completely bogus,
Obviously not.
But in a lot of cases I feel like there is a lot of power in our body and especially in our mind and I do like experimenting with it to see how I can use it to heal just randomly.
Some little things.
And I think this is just practice for me specifically just to see how powerful my mind really can be and how quickly sometimes these healings happen.
Now I'm just really talking about physical healing.
So if you have a wound or a bruise or things like that,
To use your healing powers on that.
But of course people have healed so many different things using the power of their mind,
The power of meditation.
I've heard stories and I'm sure you have as well where people heal their cancer using the power of their mind or by meditating or by using laughter yoga,
Using laughing as a medicine,
Right?
Or people who have gone vegan and gotten rid of all their diseases in terms of diabetes or heart disease or MS or things like that.
So there's many stories out there and I implore you guys to go and do your own research.
But in this one I just wanted to speak to you guys and this particular stuff,
I only want to speak to you about healing little wounds,
Right?
For example,
If you cut yourself and you have a little baby cut on your finger or if you are on your period and you're PMSing or if your stomach hurts for some reason and you don't know why and it's just a random,
Maybe you ate something weird or you have no idea what's going on or if you have a fever and you're just lying in bed and trying to heal yourself in that manner.
All of these things,
All the things that I've mentioned are things that I've tried out for myself.
So I'll just give you quick examples obviously.
So as I said,
Whenever I do cut my finger by mistake,
I mean I don't cook that much anymore because I live in Thailand,
It's very cheap to go out and eat food but sometimes I do end up cutting myself randomly with a paper cut or things like that.
What I will do is for a few moments right after I cut myself or right after if I have the time,
If I'm not roaming around outside somewhere,
I will sit down and I will sit down in a meditative posture or sit down and concentrate on that wound and send it healing energy.
It's nothing special,
It's nothing pervasive,
It's nothing that I'm doing that's taking over my life,
It's nothing major or something special but what I'm doing is sending it healing energy and sending it joy and gratitude and love and all those cells around that wound and that cut that are working hard to heal me,
All those T cells and fire cells and lymphocytes and immune system cells,
All those things that I have no idea what they're doing but they're doing an amazing job of it.
I'm just sending them some fight,
Some strength,
Some power and cheering them on basically.
And so I always do that whenever I have a cut,
Anything like that,
I'll always do that.
As much as possible I try not to take antibiotics unless it's a last resort.
The same thing with a headache,
Unless I know it's not due to dehydration or something like that,
If I know it's just a headache,
If it's a migraine thing,
I'll take care of myself,
I'll go lie down,
I'll close my eyes and I'll meditate and I'll send healing energy to my head,
To my heart,
To my body and really just take care of myself in that moment and just send a lot of love towards myself and self-care.
That helps a lot as well.
I have noticed that I heal faster.
If I have a migraine and previously before I started doing this it would take me almost half a day to heal whereas nowadays it would take me a couple hours and I'll be back to normal.
And things like fevers,
I've noticed that fever is basically your body's response to something that's in your body,
Some intruder and it's trying to increase the temperature so it can do all these interesting cool things that your body does in order to fight a virus or fight a bacteria or fight an infection and it needs heat to do that.
So when you are taking a medication to reduce the heat you're basically kind of negating your body's response and it's not really good for you.
Your body needs that fever in order to fight the infection.
Of course if you have to go to work,
You know,
Things like that,
You have to take the medication.
But if you are at home I recommend that if you have a fever or if your body is feeling hot in any way or if you're PMSing and your stomach hurts crazily then I do recommend that you take the time to heal in that manner.
So what I will do is I'll lie down,
You know,
I'll heal myself in a lot of different ways.
I'll do the fluids and I'll eat good food and I'll take the vitamin C and all that.
But also I will lie down and meditate and I'll try to send good positive energies to all of those things in my body that are trying to fight the virus or fight the fever or fight the infection,
Whatever it might be.
A couple of months ago,
October 31st,
I had dengue fever and I was sick in bed for two weeks.
I was sick in bed for a week and then I was like,
Alright,
I need to do some work.
And so I was in bed,
You know,
I had a really high fever,
I was dehydrated.
But I spent a lot of that time,
Even though it was really tiresome and I slept a lot,
As long as I was awake and coherent enough,
I would try and meditate.
I would send healing energy towards myself and I would just take care of myself in that manner.
Now of course I'm not saying that,
You know,
Dengue is an exception I guess.
It's a virus so you can't really do anything about it.
All you can do is give fluids.
So there's no medication you can take for it.
Antibiotics won't work.
It's really all you can do is rest and all that rest,
If you're doing rest anyways,
Meditating is a great way to do it.
So I would just meditate and I would send healing energy towards myself and loving kindness energy.
I would just be there with myself.
I spent a lot of time meditating actually in those days.
I think that's the reason why I was able to get better faster than I imagined I would because it's supposed to really knock you out,
That fever.
And as I said,
Whenever I'm PMSing,
I will just lie there in bed and I'll just hold my belly with both of my hands and send a lot of loving energy,
A lot of kindness because there's a lot of stuff going on down there as well that you need to send good positive energy to because it's not only just that your egg is being exterminated,
It's that your body is healing itself and there's a lot of psychological stuff that comes up.
There's the pain bodies that Eckhart Tolle talks about that comes up as well when you're going through a period.
It's a very powerful time but also very tumultuous time and so sending positive healing energy by holding onto your stomach,
Onto your wound with your healing hands,
All of us have that and just taking that time to be with yourself,
It really helps me a lot.
I notice that I feel calmer,
I feel less stressed out by my PMS,
I feel more connected to my body which is something that I lose when I have my period and a lot of good stuff comes out of it.
So I do spend and I do recommend that you spend some time just holding onto your belly,
Holding onto your wound,
Sending good energy to it,
Just sending kind energy,
Loving energy because a lot of times what we end up doing is sending a lot of hateful energy because we're like,
Oh why do I have to go through this every month,
It's so painful and you send a lot of hateful energy towards it and I'm sure that's not helpful.
It's just sending a little bit of loving energy I'm sure is very powerful in that regard.
Now as I said,
All of this doesn't negate the fact that sometimes we do need to pop a pill,
Sometimes we do need to take a headache pill or sometimes we do need to go to the doctor and take antibiotics,
Sometimes we do need to do all these interesting things that medicine has brought to us and we're so lucky that we live in a world where we can take advantage of all of these things,
Right?
So I'm not saying completely negate the power of medication but use meditation as a form of medication as well.
It's one form that you can partake in whenever you feel like your pain is not that much.
When you think that meditation can help and that you don't need to take medication,
You know,
It's just one of those things that you can do and if you feel that it's too much for meditation to take care of,
Then yeah,
Take the medication,
Take that pill,
Take that whatever you need.
It's not about being crazy about it,
It's about taking care of yourself in every which way possible.
If meditation comes into it,
Do that.
If it doesn't,
Then do whatever you need to do for yourself.
That's obviously the point of it.
I just wanted to share this with you because I've been doing this a lot and I've noticed a major shift in the connection with my mind and body and also a connection with pain all of a sudden.
It's not just something to be,
To run away from or to negate or to be fearful of.
It's a part of your body.
It's actually a mechanism that protects you for so much harm and so to be connected to it is actually I think really powerful.
Now of course sometimes I'm PMSing and my stomach hurts so bad that I can't even think about meditating.
So that happens as well and I'm just lying there cursing my stomach,
Cursing my womb.
So that absolutely happens as well and there are some moments where I'm like,
Wow,
This feels really good and I feel really connected to my womb and I feel really connected to my body.
So it happens all the way through and nothing is perfection.
We are not perfection.
We do the best we can in the moment and this is why I thought I'd share it with you guys.
Hopefully this helps you a little bit in the next time you have a little bit of pain in your body,
The next time you have a pain in your stomach or your back or your belly or whatever it might be,
Right?
I hope you're able to partake in this as well.
Let me know if you guys do it or if you already do it,
How you guys do it and if you like it or you don't like it.
I'd love to hear from you guys.
You can comment below and again thank you so much for being here,
For listening to me and I shall see you guys the next time around.
Bye for now.

Currently in a "ritual" bath of salt and eucalyptus, with frankincense and dragon's blood and sage and hemp on a burner, green candle lit, sending love healing to both my womb during my moon blood and my head as I experience a cold virus. Just "stumbled" on your beautiful talk, while looking for a meditation. Thank you
