This is a meditation you can use to check in each morning, to see what emotions need attention, and to help reframe negative thoughts that may be interrupting your day. It allows you to step outside of your body and see your emotions from a new perspective, followed by a series of affirmations that give you time and space to reflect and reframe any negativity so you begin your day with a positive, confident outlook.

Allow yourself to settle into your space,

Whether that's sitting upright or lying down.

You may not have risen yet for the day and you're comfortable in your bed.

Free your mind from your to-do list or any feelings of being rushed or hurried.

This time is yours.

There's nothing else you need to do in this moment.

Your jaw and neck are loose and the muscles in your face are soft.

Your shoulders are down.

Arms and hands are peaceful at your side.

Take a deep breath in,

Filling your lungs with clean air for the day and then let it go.

Now start by inspecting your emotions as if you're witnessing them from the outside looking in.

What is this person feeling?

What emotions are filling their mind and heart?

What are they holding on to?

You may see feelings like anger,

Resentment,

Sadness or fear that you wish weren't there.

They make you uncomfortable and feel unsettling in your body.

Instead of observing them and wishing they would go away,

Can you see yourself tending to and lovingly replacing them?

Imagine yourself approaching that emotion as you would a crying newborn baby.

You see there is discomfort and unease.

The child is crying out.

It needs something.

It needs love and attention.

See if you can gently approach this negative emotion,

Recognizing its need for love,

Picking it up,

Cradling it in your arms.

You might whisper to it,

I'm here for you.

I'm so sorry you're hurting.

I'll sit with you until this feeling changes.

I'll give you the love and tenderness you need to soften and melt away.

You might even rock slightly from side to side as you would with a babe on your hip.

This motion helps to calm and pacify the uncomfortable feelings inside.

Once you're cradling that emotion,

Holding it and caring for it,

You can meditate on these affirmations for your day.

I can't change the past,

But I can do my very best for today.

I can accept what is happening as true,

Even if I don't approve of it.

I have the courage to do what's needed to make my life what I want it to be.

I prioritize inner peace over being right.

I rest in knowing that just because it happened in the past doesn't mean it will happen in the future.

I won't worry about the future as it takes away from what I can do today.

I don't self-sabotage by engaging in negative thinking or by telling myself I don't deserve good things.

I choose the gift of forgiveness for myself and others.

I honor the difficult things I've been through and look for the positive that can grow from them.

I surround myself with people who help foster understanding and growth.

I tend to my physical space and fill it with things that bring me joy,

Peace,

And calm.

I see that each day is an untouched page in the book of my life and I can fill it however I choose.

Once you focused your attention on these affirmations and held your negative emotions with tender loving care,

Take another deep breath,

Fill your lungs,

And hold,

Then let it go.

Relish the peace you feel inside now,

This time you've given to yourself to restore,

To remember your worth,

And to release what isn't serving you.

Step into your day knowing you have the choice and control to shape the day into something that brings you happiness and contentment and you can return here to tend to yourself anytime you wish.
