This track is halfway between fairytale and guided meditation. We follow a story of a mother in her kitchen and thinking on what she has learnt about compassion, guilt and regret. What will you learn from her? This is the 4th in a 5-part series based on the 5 element system of Chinese Medicine, encouraging us to return to the natural world. Listening to the previous meditations in the series is recommended but not required.

Hello and welcome to this meditation.

The Wisdom of the Mother is the fourth instalment in a five part series,

The Wisdom of Nature,

Written and performed by me Kerishtina O'Loughlin.

These meditations are ideas which are based on the principles of Chinese medicine.

These principles are called the five elements or five element theory.

The ancient Chinese observed the patterns and cycles in nature,

Observed at organs and the types of emotions we have,

And over many thousands of years worth of observations,

Refined and connected these things into five categories,

Five elements that interrelate and connect with one another.

The fourth of these five elements is called Earth element,

Which this meditation is inspired by.

Earth element is associated with middle age,

Early autumn,

Harvest time,

Compassion,

Money,

Full lips,

Full lower cheeks,

Full lower cheeks,

Sympathy,

The stomach and pancreas.

Negative or excessive emotions associated with Earth element are guilt,

A sense of martyrdom,

Resentment and victimhood.

Positive aspects and qualities of Earth element are non-judgment,

A great understanding based on compassion,

Unconditional support whether monetary,

Time-based or from love.

The archetype associated with Earth is the mother.

The emotion associated with Earth element is worry.

This of course means worrying as a kind of care,

But this worrying can also mean a rocking back and forth of sorts that keeps the individual stuck.

It's with these qualities in mind that I focus on writing a meditative story about a mother preparing food in the kitchen,

Tracking her thoughts and reflections on her experiences.

If there's an idea that you don't understand in this meditation,

Listen and let it be.

If you don't understand,

Keep the track on a loop.

Through repetition,

The idea will sink into your subconscious mind and be understood innately over time.

The previous meditations focused on the previous elements,

Water,

Wood and fire element.

They are called the wisdom of the river,

The wisdom of the oaks and the wisdom of the fire respectively.

You don't need to have listened to the other three to learn this one,

But if you'd like to,

Please go back and listen to those titles.

All meditations are set in a place called the kingdom.

You be in the forest and nature before moving through to the village and into the castle of the queen where the series ends.

These five elements also relate to our personalities as well.

And lastly,

Close your eyes and begin to breathe slowly and deeply.

Let each breath carry you deeper and deeper into yourself.

When you breathe in,

Let the breath flood your chest and when you breathe out,

Let any worries or cares vanish into the ether.

Breathe in and breathe out.

Breathe in and breathe out.

Breathe in and breathe out.

Breathe in and breathe out.

Breathe in and breathe out.

Breathe in and breathe out.

The mother lives in a cottage in one of the few forest villages where her children,

Now adults,

Have their children and live around her where they keep their chickens,

Their sheep,

Their sheep and their cows.

Mother is wise and reflects on many things as she goes about her work in the kitchen at dawn.

This is her wisdom.

When we feed ourselves physically,

Emotionally,

We can start to feel gratitude.

If we don't take care of ourselves,

On some level we will feel that life owes us.

We become entitled and sick because of it.

Mother knows that kindness creates authenticity.

It aligns us with the nature of the Divine.

But when we are true to our hearts,

We are kind.

We automatically create generosity of spirit.

When we are kind,

We are authentic.

Mother thinks that when we are gentle to ourselves,

We can hear the call of the sacred,

What matters most to us.

Mother has felt guilty many times and is tired of it.

She knows that guilt only brings regret,

So when she feels guilty,

She is kind.

Kindness is the medicine when we are overwhelmed and in the dark.

It provides the gentle trudge towards our life purpose and destiny.

Mother can see all sides of any situation as compassion creates perspective.

When there is compassion,

There is connection.

No fault and no blame.

Compassion gives flesh and blood.

It doesn't turn heroes into villains or villains into heroes,

But instead makes them a beautiful mixture of both.

When Mother is compassionate,

She feels beautiful.

Compassion creates beauty.

Compassion creates sanctity.

True compassion creates a sense of the sacred.

Sometimes Mother has wondered about her life purpose.

She thinks that to make progress towards our life purpose,

We don't need pressure or self-criticism or self-doubt.

We only need self-gentleness in the mind.

That is enough.

That is incredibly supportive of your destiny and will help you find what is.

Even if you don't know,

Mother has found self-softness and gentleness will set you in the right direction.

Self-criticism will set you off it.

Mother believes that living on Earth,

Enjoying time spent with friends or family,

Eating with them at the kitchen table,

Make her appreciate the evanescence and beauty of life.

Mother's generosity has created many blessings.

Mother knows that receiving and giving are a balancing act and that receiving and being receptive creates purpose.

Mother fed herself before she fed her children.

Once she did that,

She set an example.

Which in turn inspired them to do as she did and so they feed their children twice as much.

Being healthily selfish helps others more than if we were to help them directly.

This is because all our destinies and life purposes intertwine because they are acts of service.

Because no man is an island.

Mother knows that responsibility is a sacred duty.

Mother appreciates that the relationship she has,

The community she lives in,

The family she grew up in,

They are not without reason.

They are blocks towards forming her divinity.

Divinity in a person to her simply means someone he can see far and wide.

When someone has divinity,

They see the youth both good and bad and do not regret.

Because of this lack of regret,

A person like Mother is close to their divinity and then can be refined by the experiences of relationship.

Mother understands for us to activate our power and inner authority,

We need to be compassionate to ourselves.

This gentleness creates heavenly things.

Mother recognizes that satisfaction and satiation must be perfection.

We know we have reached perfection when we feel fed.

The same can be said of our life purpose.

Mother trusts that compassion aids digestion,

Not of the gut,

But of difficult situations,

Life events and emotions.

If we are compassionate,

We can view situations from all sides and then perhaps digest and let go.

Mother knows that when we are searching for completion or the end or asking whether this thing fits us or is truly us,

The question to lead us there should be,

Am I satisfied?

Am I full?

If the answer is a no,

Then it's not a good fit.

When Mother lost her husband,

When her father and mother passed over,

She knows that compassion towards the self will soothe and ease grief.

She knows that when we are in the thick of grieving,

Feeling lost and submerged,

Self gentleness will give the earth for us to walk on.

Mother's home feels like home,

Her friends feel like friends and her family feels like family.

She is content and proud that she has so much beauty in her life.

A home found by the heart is a blessing.

When Mother has been self gentle and kind,

She was able to set her principles,

Standards and our moral code.

Self gentleness,

Compassion is the absence of the self critic,

The guilt and the blame.

With that absence filled with kindness,

We can begin to ascend to a height where we are able to see what is right and what we can stand for.

We can start to be authentic.

Now we come to the last wise thought from the mother.

Mother knows that softness and self gentleness can ascend us to new heights where we can have the greatest clarity.

Mother knows that softness and self gentleness has ascended her to new heights where she has the greatest clarity.

Compassion breeds clarity.

When Mother had that clarity,

She could easily see those that wrong her and better yet,

Those who sought to wrong her.

She then avoided them because her compassion was so advanced.

Before we leave the village and travel to the Queen living in her castle to learn her wisdom.

Take a few moments to enjoy the sights and sounds of Mother's home.

Let her feed and cook for you before we go.

Yes.

I'm gonna get them up here on the field with my mother.

I'm gonna be in the,

I'm gonna be in the room with you.

I'm gonna be on the field with my mother.

Come on.

Come on.
