This is a quick and easy practice that you can add to your mind/body toolkit for relief from fears, anxiety and phobias. It is an energy practice from Donna Eden in her book, Energy Medicine. It stimulates a point on the triple warmer meridian, or energy pathway, which can sedate the fight/flight/freeze response and aide in managing stress. According to Donna, using this technique regularly can alter the energetic pattern around phobias.

Welcome,

Everyone.

I invite you to find your way into a comfortable seated position.

This is an energy practice from Donna Eden from her phenomenal book,

Energy Medicine.

This practice is a wonderful quick tool when you find yourself in fear,

Anxiety,

Or caught up in a phobia.

It involves working with a point on the triple warmer meridian,

Which directs our body's fight-flight response.

Tapping this point can ease fear.

Begin by placing your left hand on your left thigh,

Palm face down,

Or place your hand on a desk desk or supportive surface.

Angle your fingers inward,

Pointing between your legs.

You will be tapping the area between the pinky and ring finger on the back of the left hand.

Some would say between the fourth and fifth fingers.

When your right fingers find the area on the back of the left hand between the pinky and ring finger,

Move your right fingers to locate the place halfway between your fingers and wrist on your left hand.

You should feel the indentation between the bones.

Begin to tap this area with the tips of your right fingers.

Just to clarify,

Tapping the back of the left hand between the ring and pinky finger with your right fingertips.

Take some deep breaths here,

Inhaling deeply and elongating your exhalation.

And don't worry about getting the exact point on your hand.

If you're tapping with all four fingers,

You're covering the point.

When in fear,

The triple warmer meridian gets activated and it puts your body on high alert.

That may sound very familiar to you,

Especially if you have PTSD or trauma.

Stimulating the triple warmer meridian can sedate the fight flight freeze response and aid in managing stress.

Great.

You can stop tapping now.

We tap for one minute for the best results.

Let's switch sides.

Place your right hand on your right thigh,

Palm face down,

And angle your fingers inward.

With your left fingertips,

Find that place on the back of the right hand between the pinky and ring finger,

About halfway between the fingers and the wrist on that right hand.

Gently begin to tap.

And now that you know this practice,

We're going to add the ha breath.

Exhale completely with me by pulling belly to spine and take a big huge inhale in through your nostrils.

Open your mouth and make a ha sound on that exhalation.

And do this at your own rhythm.

Just keep tapping this deep inhale through your nostrils and the exhale to a sound of ha means that we're breathing diaphragmatically.

And diaphragmatic breathing soothes our nervous system.

These two practices together are powerful.

According to Donna Eden,

Using this technique regularly can alter the energetic pattern associated with long-held phobias.

Now we've completed one minute on this side.

So you can stop tapping.

Let's integrate this work by simply placing the hands one on top of the other in the center of your chest,

The heart center.

Continue that deep breathing and just slowly circle your hands in a soothing manner.

I invite you to close your eyes as you breathe deeply,

Taking your attention inward at your heart,

Just feeling your body and your breath.

Now let your hands rest and focus at your heart,

Perhaps feeling the warmth between your hands and your heart and the warmth between your heart and your hands.

Focus deeply inward,

Making a connection with your spirit.

I invite you to find a sense of gratitude for your body,

Your mind,

And your spirit.

And with your heart,

Find gratitude for everything that you're thankful for in your life.

Move from one thing to the next.

May this heartfelt attitude of gratitude uplift and support you,

My friends.

From my heart to yours,

Namaste.
