Welcome.
The Four Foundations of Mindfulness with a meditation and poetic verse for you to enjoy.
The four attitudinal foundations of mindfulness can be difficult to cultivate.
Yet for a life lived to its fullest,
They are beneficial to merge into life.
I know you can do this.
Here are those four foundations.
Non-judging.
When you are feeling angry or frustrated,
Try to observe your emotions without judgment.
Instead of saying to yourself,
I'm such a terrible person for feeling this way,
Simply acknowledge that you are feeling angry or frustrated.
Acknowledge those feelings.
And patience.
When you are stuck in traffic or waiting in line,
Do your best to be patient.
Remind yourself that there is nothing you can do to change this situation.
So just be in this moment.
Beginner's mind.
When you are trying something new,
Try to approach it with an open mind.
There's no need to compare yourself with others or worry about making mistakes.
Focus on learning and experiencing.
You've never done this before,
So be gentle with yourself.
Acceptance.
When things don't go your way,
Do your best to accept that situation.
There's no need to waste your time and energy trying to change something that you cannot change.
Notice the situation.
Slow down.
And look at it with non-judgmental eyes.
And with patience.
I will now leave you with a brief,
Poetic meditation to enjoy about these powerful ways to live in the present moment.
Acknowledge that you are sitting down.
Feeling your body.
Breathing in.
And breathing out.
Breathing in.
And breathing out.
Without judgment,
I observe my mind.
A kaleidoscope of thoughts,
Both bright and blind.
Watch them come and go without a trace.
And let them be with love and grace.
With patience,
I accept that life unfolds.
At its own pace.
Never to be controlled.
I let go of my need to rush and strive.
And simply rest in the present moment.
Alive.
With beginner's mind,
I approach the world.
With open eyes.
And heart unfurled.
Each day,
A new adventure to embrace.
Each moment,
A gift with love's embrace.
Breathing in.
And breathing out.
With acceptance,
I see things as they are.
Without resistance.
Without a scar.
I surrender to the flow of life's embrace.
And find peace in this sacred space.
When you're ready,
Come back to your full awareness.
Another couple of deep breaths.
Slowly opening your eyes.
And thank you.
