Welcome to your session today.

In our session today,

We are focusing on a bilateral breath work.

What that means is you will place one hand on top of your heart,

While the other hand is outstretched.

We will breathe into the space behind the hand on our chest.

And as we exhale,

We will transfer the two hands.

It will go back and forth,

Left and right,

Bilateral,

One side at a time.

The intention with this is that we will get grounded into our body,

Mindful and intentional with our breath,

And give ourselves an opportunity to create a little bit of stillness within.

You can do this breath work any time of day,

In any situation,

But especially those that cause us anxiety and stress.

If you are someone who deals with any amount of anxiety,

Mental health such as ADHD,

Intrusive thoughts,

This breath work,

The bilateral stimulation piece of this breath work,

Is exceptionally grounding.

So to begin,

I invite you to close the windows of your eyes and place your right hand over your chest,

Your left hand outstretched as if you're making a proclamation,

A dedication to self that here in this moment,

You're going to breathe,

You're going to be still,

And you're going to sink in to the space of your heart,

To begin breathing in to the space behind your hand right there at your heart.

As you exhale,

Transferring your hands,

Your right hand now outstretched and your left over your heart.

If it feels comfortable to take a pause in between your breath,

You are welcome to do so.

Now breathing into the space behind your left hand right there at your heart.

Breathing out and transferring your hands once more.

Pausing,

Gently checking in with yourself,

Asking yourself what weighs heavy on your heart today.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Continuing in your own rhythm,

At your own pace.

Breathing in,

Recognizing the contact that your hand makes with your chest,

And breathing out,

Transferring the placement of your hands.

You can stay here breathing for as long as you would like,

For as long as you require today,

Until you feel grounded and present in your body,

Until you've cultivated this moment of stillness by sinking into the bilateral breath work.

Breathing in to your hand,

Slowly and gently,

Breathing out as you transfer your hands over.

A few more cycles of breath here,

Creating this beautiful back and forth movement,

Almost as if a wave is pulling your body from left to right,

Right to left.

And when your practice feels complete today,

I invite you to place both hands over the space of your heart,

Mindfully checking in with yourself once more,

Noticing if you feel different,

Or if there's a pull to continue or repeat this breath.

Stay here in this space for as long as you need to today.

When you feel ready,

Tucking your chin,

Sealing in this bilateral breath work practice today,

And then opening the windows of your eyes,

You can come back here as many times as you need to,

To harness the power of that bilateral breath,

To gently ease yourself into that wave of back and forth,

Left and right,

Right and left.

Thank you for joining me for some breath work today.

Until next time,

Be well.
