Welcome to your session today.

My name is Shanna Moyer and this session has been so thoughtfully and compassionately curated to bring ease into the postpartum period.

That fourth trimester,

The one that often gets forgotten about,

Hidden,

Not discussed openly,

But a space where we need so much ease,

So much calm,

So much peace and so much nurturing.

It's a time to tune in,

To allow other people to take care,

To grow quiet and grow soft.

My hope today is that in the next few minutes your shoulders will fall down from the ears,

The space behind your eyes will grow dark,

Your mind will stop racing so fast,

And you'll grow heavy into your body.

This is a time for ease.

So take a moment to get comfortable,

To support your body in any way it needs today.

If that means extra blankets,

Extra pillows,

To retreat to a quiet space with the door closed,

That's okay.

Listen to what it is that you need here in this moment.

And when you are comfortable,

Closing the windows of your eyes,

Resting your hands wherever they are comfortable today.

If that's over the space around your heart,

Folded in your lap,

Or simply resting at your sides,

You know your body best.

And while it might not feel like your own,

It still is.

Your body is still home.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Here in this space,

You are home.

You are safe.

Your body has just done something absolutely incredible.

It has shifted.

It has changed.

It has grown.

And while 10 months,

40 to 42 weeks,

Seems like it takes forever,

That time seems to drag on during pregnancy.

But in reality,

It's such a short period of time.

Your body has gone through all of these incredible life-changing and life-creating moments.

And we're so quick to return back to what we thought was normal.

Maybe now is an opportunity to wrap arms around your belly,

Hands around your heart.

Sink into the warmth,

The gentleness,

And the ease that is your postpartum.

This beautiful space to exist within,

Where we can sleep when the baby sleeps.

And actually do it.

The dishes,

The laundry,

The bathrooms,

The tidying,

That will all be there after sleep,

After rest,

After the ease and the gentleness of giving yourself permission to slow down.

All of the tasks,

The items on your to-do list,

They'll still be there.

But here in this moment,

Maybe it's an opportunity to go slow.

To nurture that space of your heart.

To acknowledge just how hard you've worked to get where you are.

The space within pregnancy isn't always easy.

It's not always beautiful and glowing.

Sometimes it's really hard.

And then we morph from being this pregnant human being into being a parent who is sleep-deprived,

Hormonal,

While also existing within a body that they have never met before.

So what if we gave ourselves permission to be gentle?

To invite a sense of ease.

Breathing in and breathing out.

While the space behind your eyes has grown dark,

And maybe the thoughts in your brain are starting to slow down,

Take a moment to sink the shoulders down.

Breathe into the heaviness of your body.

This is the sweetness of going slower.

This is the sweetness of gentle,

Of ease.

And here in this moment,

Here within that fourth trimester,

Within your postpartum,

This sense of ease is something that you are deeply deserving of.

Taking a few more cycles of breath here.

Very gently in and very gently out.

Knowing that you can return here any time you need that reminder to go slow.

To invite that sense of gentle and ease into your postpartum.

You have done something miraculous and magical.

And now is the time where we can gather around and support you when it feels right to you.

Opening the windows of your beautiful eyes.

Allowing the light to start to filter in.

You're an incredible human being.

Not simply because you exist,

Though that also is true,

But also because you have recognized that you need support,

That you need some gentleness,

And that you are deserving of ease.

I love you and I'm here anytime that you need a reminder of just how deserving you are.
