This meditation is a body scan that helps you release tension that may be hidden in your body. Through progressive relaxation, you will focus on the latent sensations that exist when you're still. Once you're aware of how you feel, we will use the breath and visualization to release anything that no longer serves you.

Hello and welcome to today's guided meditation.

Today's guided meditation will be a body scan.

So this can be done sitting up in a relaxed comfortable position.

But this is also good laying down where you can really feel into each part of your body.

I invite you to close your eyes and let's begin by taking some big deep breaths in through the nose and releasing out through the mouth.

Another big slow deep breath in through the nose,

Filling the lungs and the abdomen and let it all go breathing out through the mouth.

One more time let's do a big breath in through the nose,

Releasing out through the mouth.

As you continue to breathe,

I invite you to breathe a little bit slower than you normally do and a little bit deeper than you normally do.

Intentionally drawing some attention to the breath,

Slowing it down,

Really feeling it as it expands into your chest and abdomen,

Breathing from the bottom of your belly and gently letting all that air out and let the air go.

Breathing in through your nose and breathing out through your nose.

I invite you to take this moment to unclench your jaw,

Relaxing all the muscles in your face,

Your cheekbones,

Your eyebrows and also taking a moment to relax the shoulders away from the ears,

Letting them succumb to gravity and on the next exhale relaxing your entire body as much as you can as we begin our meditation.

As you sit comfortably and still,

I invite you to bring awareness to your toes.

You don't have to move them,

Keeping them still with the rest of your body,

But seeing if you can focus on just the latent sensations in your toes.

Can you feel them at the ends of your feet?

Do you notice any sensations there and are you able to isolate just the feeling of your toes?

Now moving your awareness to the entirety of the foot,

Are you able to feel the feelings in your feet without moving them?

Just by drawing attention to them.

It's okay if this is challenging for you,

But see if you can just feel your feet.

Moving our attention up to our calves,

Noticing any sensation in these muscles,

Seeing if you can isolate any feelings coming just from your calves.

How do they feel today in this relaxed state?

Moving up again,

We draw awareness to our thighs.

How are they feeling right now?

If there's any tension in your thighs or in any other part of the body,

Taking a moment to breathe into this area while we focus our attention on it and releasing tension as we exhale,

Letting go through the mouth,

Letting all stagnant energy leave our body,

Continuing to focus on this large muscle group of the thighs,

Isolating any sensations emanating from this area.

We now make our way up to our pelvic region.

This area includes our genitals,

The front of our pubic area,

Our pubic bone,

As well as our lower back.

Noticing any sensations here,

Breathing out any tightness or tension,

Sending love to this area.

This is the area of our first and second chakra in charge of our feelings of security and intimacy.

Simply noticing any sensations that may arise if there are any,

If not just feeling into this space,

Taking a moment to include our glutes as well in this region that we're scanning,

Feeling our butt muscles,

Whether we're sitting up or laying down,

Tuning in to see how this all feels at once.

From the pelvic region,

We move our way up to our navel area,

Our stomach and abdomen.

As you breathe deeply and gently and naturally,

Tuning in,

Isolating the sensations of just your stomach,

Giving your whole focus to this part of your body,

Noticing what kind of sensations or feelings you can pick up,

Allowing the range of what is scanned to extend to your abdomen as well as your lower back right behind it.

How do the muscles around your spine feel?

How does your lower abdomen feel?

Let's bring our awareness up once again to the area of our heart,

Located right in the middle of our chest,

Focusing our energy and our attention on our sternum,

Our lungs,

Our heart,

And the general space in the middle of our rib cage.

Feel it slowly expand as you breathe in and gently compress as you breathe out.

What kind of sensations can you pick up in this area?

And is there any tension here that you're ready to breathe out and let go of?

Taking a moment to once again relax the shoulders and the jaw,

Relaxing the entire body as you focus solely on the area in the center of your chest,

Your heart and lung space area,

Noticing how this segment of your body feels here and now in this moment.

Let's bring our attention up once again to our shoulders and neck area as we gently breathe,

Tuning in,

Seeing if there's any tension here,

If there's any looseness.

How do our neck and shoulders feel at this moment?

Allowing yourself to listen to sensations that not only come from the front of your neck and shoulders,

But also the back as well,

An area that holds a lot of tension or can hold a lot of tension.

Does this area feel well loved or could it use a little bit of extra love today?

Gently breathing in through your nose and exhaling any tension out through your mouth that might be caught in this area.

Taking another moment to notice if there's any tension here,

If there's any tension in the back of your neck,

If there's any tension in the back of your neck,

If there's any tension in the back of your neck,

If there's any tension in the back of your neck,

If there's any tension in the back of your neck,

If there's any tension in the back of your neck,

If there's any tension in the back of your neck,

If there's any tension in the back of your neck,

If there's any tension in the back of your neck,

As you breathe in,

Focusing your awareness on the top of your skull,

Your crown,

I invite you to imagine healing violet energy pouring down from above you,

Hitting this top part of your skull.

Allow this soothing,

Healing purple energy to flow over you like honey,

Slowly working its way down your body,

Healing,

Calming and relaxing you,

Working its way down your neck and shoulders,

Down through your arms and chest,

This healing light energy covering your abdomen and your pelvis,

And your pelvis,

Working its way down through your thighs and calves,

And finally arriving at the feet,

Fully enveloping your body.

This healing purple light has the power to heal any area that may have been holding some tension,

Sending some of this loving healing energy to the parts of your body that need it right now,

Allowing these areas of tension to be soothed as you relax even deeper,

Surrendering and letting go to the feeling of healing,

Continuing to breathe deeply,

Thanking this healing energy for realigning our body and releasing some tension,

And in this relaxed state,

Thanking ourselves for showing up today,

Thanking yourself for going through this entire meditation,

For the discipline and self-love that is required to arrive at this moment,

Saying internally to yourself,

I love you,

And thanks for being here with me today and showing up.

I love you,

And I show you that by doing things like this.

I love you,

And your peace is worth my time and effort.

Thank you for existing.

Slowly and gently,

These feelings of self-love still emanating,

We gently become aware of our body once again,

Noticing how we feel in totality.

Are we relaxed?

And is there anywhere that is still holding tension?

Taking simple note and intentionally relaxing the body one more time.

On our next exhale,

Dropping the shoulders,

Relaxing the jaw and the muscles in the face,

Letting go of any tension held in our arms,

In our chest or back,

And relaxing our legs and feet,

Thanking ourself one more time for this practice.

So we gently invite movement by rubbing the thumb against our fingers,

Maybe very slowly whenever we're ready,

Moving around our neck,

Wiggling our spine just a bit,

Wiggling our toes,

And bringing this relaxed,

Clear energy back with us as we move more and more of our body when we feel called.

And slowly and gently,

Whenever you're ready,

Opening your eyes,

Coming back to the loving space that you're in.
