This Ho‘oponopono meditation invites you into a compassionate space of release and emotional healing. Rooted in the Hawaiian tradition of making things right, this practice guides you through breath, heart-centered awareness, and the four healing phrases: I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you. Through this gentle process, you’ll soften what has been heavy, clear emotional residue, and reconnect with your natural state of peace. Use this meditation anytime you need to let go, reset your heart, or return to yourself.

Hi,

I'm Dr.

Dionne,

And welcome to this Hoʻoponopono Healing Meditation.

Hoʻoponopono,

It's fun to say,

Yet its healing runs deep.

Rooted in ancient Hawaiian tradition,

The word means to make right or to bring into balance.

Although I'm not Hawaiian,

I lived on the islands for several years and was deeply touched by my time there.

Hoʻoponopono reflects the spirit I came to know and love,

Simple,

Sincere,

And profoundly healing.

This meditation is an invitation to release what no longer serves you.

To make space for softness,

For understanding,

For freedom.

Take a deep breath in,

And slowly let it go.

With every inhale soften,

With every exhale come home.

Find a comfortable position,

Close your eyes if it feels good,

Bring both hands to rest gently over your heart,

Feeling the rise and fall beneath your palms.

A quiet reminder that life,

Love,

And healing all begin here.

As you breathe,

Imagine a soft golden light glowing within your heart,

The same warmth as the morning sun gently rising over the horizon.

Each breath fans its glow,

Expanding through your body like sunlight spreading across the sea.

Let this light remind you that forgiveness doesn't happen in the mind,

It begins here,

In the heart.

There was a time in my own life when I found it hard to forgive someone who had hurt me.

It wasn't always loud,

But it lived in the background.

Intention I couldn't quite name,

And thoughts I couldn't quiet.

It was like drinking poison and hoping the other person would suffer.

I believed that holding on made me strong,

But in truth it was only keeping me in pain.

Ho'oponopono helped me shift that,

Not by excusing what happened,

But by releasing the pain that had taken root in me.

Forgiveness,

I learned,

Isn't something you do for them,

It's something you do for you.

It's how you return to peace.

Now bring to mind someone or something that feels heavy in your heart.

It could be another person,

A situation,

Or even yourself.

You don't have to relive the story,

Just feel its presence.

When you're ready,

We'll begin the four phrases together.

You can whisper them aloud,

Or repeat them silently.

I'm sorry.

Please forgive me.

Thank you.

I love you.

Say them again,

Not as a ritual,

But as an offering of release.

Each phrase is a wave of compassion,

Softening what once was held tight.

I'm sorry.

Please forgive me.

Thank you.

I love you.

Let each phrase move through you like a wave,

Lifting what's ready to be carried away,

Then softening as it returns to the sea.

I'm sorry.

Please forgive me.

Thank you.

I love you.

Each time you repeat the words,

Feel the light in your heart expand a little more,

Softening what was hard,

Lightening what was heavy,

Making room for peace.

I'm sorry.

Please forgive me.

Thank you.

I love you.

Take a slow,

Steady breath in,

And release it gently.

Hey,

Notice how your heart feels,

Maybe lighter,

Maybe quieter.

Even if nothing feels finished,

Trust that something has already begun to shift.

Forgiveness isn't about forgetting.

It's about freeing yourself from the story that keeps you bound.

Feel the light within you glowing brighter now,

Like the sun warming the earth after a long night.

Forgiveness,

Like sunlight,

Doesn't force its way in.

It simply shines until the shadows release their hold.

Place your hands back over your heart,

And whisper softly one more time.

I'm sorry.

Please forgive me.

I love you.

Thank you.

This practice isn't about pretending everything is fine.

It's about remembering that peace begins with you,

A gentle coming home to yourself,

A quiet return to peace,

Not by holding on,

But by letting go.

From my heart to yours,

Keep blooming.
