Greetings,
Beautiful ones.
This is a practice,
A meditation on responsibility,
Responsibility.
So just notice in this moment how you feel about that word responsibility,
Where it lives in your body.
And when you think about the word responsibility,
I invite you to consider perhaps another definition of the word and consider that responsibility is your innate capacity to respond,
Your innate capacity to respond.
And just notice how we are either responsible consciously or unconsciously all the time.
Our bodies are constantly responding.
We are constantly responding to our environment,
Our interior environment,
Our exterior environment.
And so the closer we are to conscious awareness of our responsibility,
The closer we are to resting in our agency,
In our agency.
And the closer we are to resting in our agency,
The closer we are to our sovereignty,
To our freedom,
Our innate freedom.
And the closer we are to our sovereignty,
The closer we are to surrender.
It feels to me that we are entering a time of sovereign surrender,
Sovereign surrender.
So that's a bit about what this practice will be about today.
So begin as always by noticing your back body,
It's a strong,
Grounded back body.
And whether you're sitting or laying or standing,
Wherever you are,
Notice the base of your spine,
Your tailbone.
If you had a tail today,
What would it look like?
Imagine this tail growing from the base of your spine.
You might even say hello.
And from here,
Imagine that you have ancient,
Ancient roots,
An anchor that connects you down through the foundation if you're inside,
Invites you to meet and greet the land where you are.
New friends meeting old friends as you connect with all the other rooted beings in the land.
And you continue to drop that anchor down,
Dropping it down through the different layers of sediment and soil,
Meeting and greeting the minerals.
You might actually feel yourself anchoring down as you meet and greet and root and connect with the earth.
And you might notice that there is a response there from the earth as you do this,
That you are in this reciprocal relationship as the earth rises up to meet you,
That there is a response,
There is a responsibility that you have here as you respond to the earth and the earth responds to you.
And as you continue to drop your roots or your anchor down,
Meeting and greeting the crystalline waters that live in the earth,
These pure,
Structured,
Vital,
Healthy waters.
You might even drink from some of these waters,
Drawing up some of that vitality and noticing how you respond.
How do you respond to receiving that nourishment from the earth?
You might notice what's happening in your body as you root down a little bit more deeply and you anchor to the core and center of the earth.
And as you root down and as you draw up to receive,
Just begin by noticing your body.
Perhaps there's a certain part of your body that lights up and asks for your attention,
Your inner awareness.
And as you notice your responsibility here,
Your capacity to respond,
You might consider that in that moment in time,
In this moment in time,
Your body,
All the different facets of your body are constantly responding.
Constantly responding,
Making micro-movements and adjustments for your highest well-being,
For your health and survival.
And so as you bring your awareness here,
Notice the response of your body.
Maybe there's a gurgle or a movement,
Maybe there's more tension,
Whatever it is,
Just noticing your capacity to respond to this moment,
Your responsibility to your body,
Your body's responsibility to the earth.
Just noticing this reciprocal dance that you're in at all times.
You might notice some movement,
This is your response.
Whatever it is that's arising,
Offering your inner awareness,
Your intention,
As you expand your capacity to respond.
You expand your capacity to be responsible.
Just noticing that,
Noticing the way that your cells respond to that nourishing water.
As you draw up from your roots in the in-breath,
And as you release and offer on the exhale,
Offering down to the earth,
Just noticing what's happening inside.
As you expand your capacity to respond,
How are you receiving that,
What's happening inside?
And the more awareness and inner attention you bring from a rooted,
Grounded place,
And if you notice yourself leaving that center,
It's a very simple call back,
Come home.
This is your capacity to respond to the leaving.
We become more responsible,
And as we become more responsible in our interior landscape then our capacity to consciously respond to the environment increases,
So you might notice what's happening around you.
Perhaps you can hear some of the rustling of the breeze and the trees in my background,
The birdsong,
And all of this noticing is coming from this centered,
Rooted,
Grounded place.
So you are stretching and growing your capacity to be responsible,
And notice how that feels in your body.
I am responsible.
I have capacity to respond.
It's happening all the time,
Whether I'm conscious of it or not.
I am responding.
This reciprocal relationship that we're in.
And so if you notice yourself responding to some of the noise in the environment,
Some of the toxins,
Some of the externalities,
Part of the reclamation of this agency and this sovereignty is to return home,
To come back in to the body,
To the center,
And notice what we can respond to,
What we can respond to.
And strengthen that yes.
Strengthen that yes.
We are constantly responding.
And so to nourish that which needs nourishing,
So that the external capacity strengthens from the inside.
And it strengthens from what we actually have agency over,
What we actually can tend and mend and be with,
The internal landscape.
So just noticing how strong your capacity to respond is.
Noticing how at all times your body is responding.
You are responding.
You are responsible.
You are responsible.
And notice where this expands your capacity in your body,
In your spirit,
To be in your agency.
And as you notice this,
Just feel that feeling.
What does it feel like?
What does it feel like in the body to have more agency?
You might express that out loud.
Oh,
Perhaps it feels more alive or more powerful.
Perhaps it brings a smile to remember.
Perhaps there's some sadness.
The multiplicity of experiences as you explore your agency,
Your capacity to respond.
And as this capacity expands,
You might feel more of your sovereignty,
Your true liberation,
Your freedom,
Your freedom.
One of my favorite lines in a song that's been playing over and over for the last couple years since my mom had a brain surgery,
And she came out of that brain surgery and she was singing through the anesthesia,
I wouldn't call it singing,
But she was singing a song by Janis Joplin that freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose.
And so as we tune into that freedom,
That liberation,
That sovereignty,
We might notice that we have more space to surrender,
More space to rest in the body,
More space to respond,
To be responsible.
And so we can continue that practice for as long as it feels nourishing and supportive and alive.
And when you choose to come out,
You might give yourself,
Your body,
A little bit of love.
Thank you for being responsible.
Thank you for taking the time to notice your inherent capacity to respond,
To stretch and grow from the inside.
Sending lots of love and many,
Many blessings on your day.
