Welcome to the meditation session on the technique of mindful breathing,

Anapanasati,

And deep reflections on viveka and vairagya.

Find a comfortable,

Quiet place where you can sit on any surface,

Preferably semi-hard or hard.

It could be a chair,

Or you can sit in a half lotus or lotus position.

Close your eyes,

Give yourself the opportunity to fully relax and focus on your breath.

Take a deep breath in through your nose,

Filling your body with fresh air.

Feel the air filling your abdomen,

Expanding it.

Now slowly exhale through your mouth,

Releasing all tension and stress.

Allow yourself to completely relax,

Calm down,

Try to breathe naturally,

Slowly,

Calmly.

Observe the inhales,

Observe the exhales.

Inhale mindfully,

Exhale mindfully.

Allow each inhale and exhale to be natural and calm.

Give yourself a moment to feel the rhythm of your breath.

Be aware of how agitated your mind is,

How much it gets distracted from the process,

And how quickly you can bring it back to the breath.

Mindful breathing brings profound changes to the body's physiology.

Slow and deep breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system,

Promoting relaxation and stress reduction.

Each inhale and exhale fills your body with fresh air and carries away tension,

Creating harmony between body and mind.

Contemporary spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle,

Author of The Power of Now,

Teaches about the importance of present moment awareness over attachment to material success.

He states,

The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation,

But your thoughts about it.

Tolle's teachings encourage individuals to find peace by disengaging from the mental narratives that create suffering,

And by embracing the present moment as the true source of well-being.

Now,

Let's consider our understanding of illness and its impact on our inner world.

Let's recall the stories of celebrities such as David Bowie,

Alan Rickman,

Aretha Franklin,

Hugh Jackman,

Steve Jobs,

Lance Armstrong,

And their battles with cancer.

Despite having access to the best medicines and medical care,

Despite their wealth and access to top-tier medical treatments,

They couldn't secure a miraculous cure.

This is because the principles of causality cannot be sidestepped.

The objective of life goes beyond merely treating ailments.

The key is to uncover the root causes of disease,

And upon doing so,

The illness often resolves itself,

Independent of medication.

The crucial point is to discern the origin of the ailment without relying on pharmaceuticals.

Medications may prompt an individual to take a closer look at their life,

To awaken and ponder the reasons behind their health issues,

And to seek out the underlying cause that led to their condition.

In the case of David Bowie,

His battle with liver cancer demonstrates the challenges of treating advanced stage cancers.

Despite access to medical care and likely undergoing treatments such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy,

His cancer ultimately proved resistant to conventional therapies.

Liver cancer,

Especially in its advanced stages,

Can be particularly aggressive and difficult to treat,

Leading to a limited range of treatment options and lower chances of successful outcomes.

Similarly,

Alan Rickman's struggle with pancreatic cancer highlights the formidable nature of this disease.

Pancreatic cancer is often diagnosed at an advanced stage when treatment options are limited and the prognosis is poor.

Despite advancements in medical technology and research,

Pancreatic cancer remains one of the deadliest forms of cancer,

With low survival rates.

Even with access to medical care and potential interventions like surgery,

Chemotherapy,

And targeted therapy,

The aggressive nature of pancreatic cancer poses significant challenges to achieving long-term remission or cure.

Steve Jobs passed away from complications related to a rare form of pancreatic cancer known as a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor.

Despite having access to the best medical care,

Jobs initially chose to pursue alternative treatments which included a special diet among other non-medical interventions.

By the time he opted for conventional medical treatment,

Including surgery,

The cancer had progressed.

Even with subsequent medical treatments,

Including a liver transplant and chemotherapy,

The cancer continued to advance.

In the case of Steve Jobs,

The medical interventions were not able to halt the progression of the disease.

This illustrates that while medications and medical procedures can be powerful tools in the fight against cancer,

They are not always successful in curing the disease,

Especially if the cancer is detected at a later stage or is particularly aggressive.

Medications work to target specific pathways in cancer cells or to bolster the body's immune response to fight the disease.

However,

Cancer cells can be highly adaptable and may develop resistance to treatments.

Additionally,

Every individual's body responds differently to medication,

And what works for one person may not work for another.

In summary,

While medical treatments can offer hope and extend life for many patients,

They are not infallible.

The effectiveness of treatment can depend on a variety of factors,

Including the type and stage of cancer,

The patient's overall health,

The timing of the intervention,

And the cancer's response to treatment.

Steve Jobs' case is a poignant example of the limitations of medical science in the face of complex diseases like cancer.

On the other hand,

Research into the experiences of cancer survivors has revealed profound insights.

In one study,

Participants unanimously reported a sense of gratitude for their illness,

Stating that it brought them a deeper understanding of life.

Post-illness,

They emerged as transformed individuals,

Thankful for the new perspectives on life that cancer had unveiled to them.

Remarkable instances have been documented,

Including the spontaneous regression of a tumor the size of a tennis ball in mere seconds,

And other scenarios where tumors vanished within minutes,

Hours,

Or days.

Take for instance,

Someone who developed a sizable intestinal tumor as large as a football.

Astonishingly,

It began to shrink and disappeared within a week,

As though it had never been there.

From a physiological standpoint,

This seems implausible,

As the body typically cannot rid itself of such a vast number of cancer cells and recover independently.

Yet,

Such occurrences are well documented,

With countless similar cases reported.

These events transpired without pharmaceutical intervention,

But rather through the individual's realizations of the reasons behind their conditions and the connections between them.

Anita Morjani is an author who has shared her story of battling lymphoma,

Which had progressed to the point of organ failure.

She experienced a near-death experience,

NDE,

During which she claims to have gained a profound understanding of her life and the root causes of her illness.

Following her NDE,

Morjani's condition improved rapidly,

And her cancer went into remission.

She attributes her healing to the insights gained during her experience,

And a significant shift in her consciousness and approach to life.

Dr.

Ian Gawler,

An Australian veterinarian and author,

Was diagnosed with bone cancer in the 1970s and underwent an amputation of his right leg.

When the cancer returned,

He turned to meditation,

A plant-based diet,

And other holistic practices.

Gawler experienced a remarkable recovery,

Which he ascribes to his comprehensive approach to wellness,

Including his spiritual practices.

His case has been studied and debated within the medical community.

Dr.

Kelly Turner,

A researcher and psychotherapist,

Has studied over a thousand cases of cancer patients who experienced radical remission,

Surviving cancer against all odds,

Often after conventional medicine had failed.

Her research identified common factors among these survivors,

Which included having a strong will to live,

Radically changing one's diet,

And deepening spiritual connections.

While not all cases can be scientifically explained,

These factors were consistently present in the stories of those who experienced radical remission.

When we grasp this concept,

We address the challenge that the problem presents to us.

In life,

Problems serve as lessons we must navigate.

We are here on Earth to find solutions,

Not to escape them by succumbing to the shadows of medication or substance abuse.

Our purpose is to resolve these challenges,

For it is through conquering them that we grow.

Thus,

Finding solutions is our primary mission.

When we comprehend and resolve the issue,

All obstacles,

Whether they are life's hurdles,

Specific situations,

Or even diseases,

Dissipate.

In these times,

Practices like meditation and yoga are beneficial.

We come to understand that our troubles are not merely tests,

But experiences that strengthen us.

Meditation and yoga become tools that aid us in better comprehending and accepting our issues,

Liberating our minds from the suffering born of worldly attachments and egoistic desires.

This freedom is what individuals experience through the ancient practice of vipassana meditation,

In which they develop dhyana and can meditate for 1-2-3 and more hours straight.

Each one of us carries some form of ailment or past trauma,

Which is why practices like yoga and meditation exist,

To help us clear away the accumulated detritus.

We have participated in numerous sessions together,

Each beginning with the anapanasati meditation technique,

Which is the foundational step of vipassana.

To engage in vipassana meditation,

One must first master concentration,

Which we have been practicing all along,

Focusing and becoming mindful of our breath.

Let's now focus on the breath.

Feel the flow of air entering your nostrils and leaving your nostrils.

With each inhale and exhale,

Be aware of the moment of presence.

Allow your breath to be a bridge between your inner and outer worlds.

As Sri Adi Shankaracharya said,

Suffering arises from attachment to material things and selfish desires.

Allow these words to penetrate your consciousness,

Opening up new horizons of understanding and acceptance.

Stay in this meditative state for as long as you need,

Taking each breath as a new opportunity for inner growth and transformation.

When you are ready,

Slowly open your eyes,

But maintain this sense of peace and harmony with yourself and the surrounding world,

Even with your eyes open.

Continue to observe your breath until the end of the audio session.

Only then will you develop true tranquility and inner peace.
