Today I'm going to be talking about Climate and the ecological emergency And then it will be followed on by a short meditation practice Which will help comfort ourselves with any eco anxiety and to help us to Be with this reality When we think about climate change Eco anxiety most of us already know that we are in the sixth mass extinction in cosmological history Let that sit with you Take a breath What does that mean the sixth mass extinction In cosmological history That just sounds So overwhelming And Too big to even fathom what that even means and What I found is a lot of times It just feels too big to even know What we can do about it as a community It's just so easy to get caught up in a Distractions Addictions And numbing ourselves from the reality of what's happening Whether that is our reality of our problems or Reality of what's happening in the climate because it's just too much to even think about And We get caught up in our own problems and our own lives and without realizing What we do on a day-to-day Basis is how we can ultimately Make the change make changes Which will help reduce the impact of climate change overall There is just so much information And documentaries which demonstrate what is happening to the planet and what's happening to People what's happening to animals as a result of this and I guess it can be quite depressing And What I found a lot of the time Is that people won't even even go there because it's just too sad They won't watch these things They don't want to know Because they're already caught up in their own suffering so then having to think about the suffering Of others the bigger picture is just too much It's just too much and have to think about the future of this concept of what might be coming And what we know is inevitable And because it's not affecting us right now as individuals We can choose to or try to ignore it But it does just create There's a lot of anxiety around this Wise friend once said to me how we treat the planet and what's going on in the planet Is Is ultimately how we as individuals treat ourselves and feel about ourselves So if we work on healing ourselves We will heal the planet at the same time so this brings us to the meditation Aspect So I invite you to get yourself into a comfortable position If you feel comfortable to close your eyes I invite you to do this Simply noticing your body being supported by the chair the bed or the ground Just reflecting on all that was spoken about around a climate crisis I Invite you to just notice how you feel in your body Any sensations You feeling Any tightness Heaviness Maybe it feels like there's a weight Maybe in the shoulders stomach Or there could be nothing at all simply just try to Bring your attention to how your body is feeling in this moment after contemplating a climate crisis A lot of guilt and shame can come up around this subject Phrases like it's just too hard It's not my problem Think about if you've ever had those thoughts Think about if you've ever had those thoughts Who might be speaking When you've even heard those thoughts you might have heard that from others Coming back to the sensations in the body Just try to bring to mind if you've ever felt this before You might have felt these feelings as a child or a young person Often These subjects can trigger a Lot of fears that we have a Lot of worry Any sensations Can be related to something we've experienced when we were younger Just be open to what comes to mind Don't overthink it just simply try to engage and to Feel with your heart Where was I when I felt this the first time?
Just try to picture yourself As a young child Albeit your highest self come into mind Visualize that now If you are seeing yourself as a child Just standing back and have a look at How old you are You might want to even ask yourself You can't see it may even just be a knowing Of when you felt like that Try to get a sense And look into the eyes Really see yourself It's really important that we Ask ourselves This younger version of us this younger part What they need What do they need right now You might be a feeling that you get or a knowing Giving this part of you What they need in this moment Might be physical touch a hug They might need A caregiver like figure there to come in If not a parent someone else that you feel would be a safe support Could be a guardian angel Use your imagination for your heart You might need to go somewhere like a beautiful garden I'm going to leave you here for a few moments in silence just to sit with yourself now You You You You You you You you And now that you have had time to Comfort that part of you That might not feel safe or that feels scared Just really reassure that part of you That they're safe now and It might even be helpful for you to let them know how old you are now And to reassure them that you're the adult And that you've got this You you That part of you surely must be tired Protecting you and looking after you Reassure that part of you that It's safe now for you as the adult to step in and be the adult For you to feel safe now And to be able to feel safe now And to be able to feel safe now And to feel safe now And to feel safe now And to feel safe now And to feel safe now And you can always go back and come to this place Now it's time for you to tell that part of you,
That child That it's time for them to stay in the garden And to say goodbye Part of you to come back into the present moment,
Back into the room Space,
Feeling your body being supported by the ground,
The chair All the bed Wiggling fingers and toes Opening your eyes when you're ready Namaste
