Welcome back!
Today we explore the fire element.
I shared with you previously that fire element types may struggle to wind down at night.
Hot flashes,
Anxiety or overexcitement about your upcoming events or engagements may keep you tossing or turning in bed at night.
And to combat insomnia,
Embrace relaxation techniques and ensure that your sleeping environment is conducive for rest.
Today's practice for the fire element is a guided self acupressure meditation for your heart to combat insomnia and welcome complete mind,
Body and spirit relaxation.
You can practice this in a seated position or even lying down in bed if you wish.
Take a moment to settle into your body and allow your breath to flow naturally.
We'll start by locating the acupressure point for today which is Shen Men,
Spirit Gate also known as the heart 7 acupuncture or acupressure point.
Begin by extending your non-dominant hand palm facing up,
Then align your thumb with your palm.
Next,
Locate the corner of your wrist crease on the little finger side of your palm and gently press down with your thumb of your dominant hand between your tendons feeling for a slight depression or hollow area.
Once you find that area in the wrist crease on the little finger side of your non-dominant hand,
You've located your Spirit Gate acupressure point.
For this practice,
We'll press and breathe in while holding and increasing the pressure for four counts and then exhale to gently release the pressure for six counts and we'll repeat this for five rounds on each side.
Let's start by using your thumb of your dominant hand on the Shen Men,
Spirit Gate point of your non-dominant hand.
We'll gently apply pressure on this point as you breathe in for four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Gently release for six,
Five,

Let's repeat this process four more times,

Now we are ready to switch sides.
Using your thumb of your non-dominant hand,
Locate the Spirit Gate Shen Men point on the wrist crease,
Which is close to the little finger side of your palm of your dominant hand.
As before,
We will press and inhale for four counts and exhale to release for six counts,
Repeating for a total of five times.

Gently circle and massage acupressure points.
Now that we've completed both sides,
Gently and slowly release your palms down on your lap or the sides of your body and relax your fingers.
With your next inhale,
Let your fingers gently spread open and notice any sensations on your Shen Men spirit gate points as you spread your fingers wide as if you are expanding and blossoming like a summer flower,
Vibrant and full of life.
Vibrant and full of life.
As you exhale,
Soften your fingers and imagine you are releasing any anxious energy.
You're letting go of any feelings of social comparison against others.
You're letting go of all that no longer serves you.
Inhaling,
Letting your fingers spread,
Feeling your heart warm as you are vibrant,
Full of life.
Exhaling,
Releasing anxiety,
Overthinking,
Letting go of anything that's in your way of sound sleep.
Of sound sleep.
One last time.
Inhale,
Letting your fingers spread like two flowers,
Expressing your true essence and beauty to the world.
And exhale,
Gently softening your palms and all 10 fingers as you release and relax deeper into yourself.
Allow yourself to be fully present here as you exhale and gently settle.
Take as long as you wish here.
Connecting and soaking in this feeling of peace and connection.
Knowing that you can return to this practice and this place of calm whenever you wish.
From here,
You are welcome to transition into sleep,
Into the realm of your dreams if you wish.
Or if you wish to rise and awaken,
Do so in a gentle and restful way.
