Happiness is based on inner peace and solidity. This practice helps us to achieve the desired peace of mind and body by resting as a pebble on the riverbed. When we are at peace with ourselves, we can approach others and really help them. It is based on the pebble meditation of Thich Nath Hanh.

My name is Gerald Blomile,

And I wrote and recorded this podcast meditation for you.

Enjoy.

Practicing meditation do not make any effort.

Allow yourself to be like a pebble at rest at the bottom of a river.

The pebble doesn't do anything.

Resting is the important practice.

By learning the art of resting your body and your mind,

You can practice allowing to leave everything just as it is.

You can surrender to the present moment,

The here and the now,

To your true home.

Breathe comfortably.

Let your lips form a half smile like the Buddha or Mona Lisa.

Breathe slowly and deeply.

Feel the breath in your whole body and become one with the breath.

Your mind is a river of thoughts and feelings.

Each one is different and relies on the others for its existence.

To observe this,

Just sit on the bank of the river,

Identifying each thought and feeling as it surfaces,

Flows by,

And disappears.

Imagine you're sitting on the bank of a river,

Watching the fast-flowing water in front of you.

Hear the river.

Smell its freshness.

Imagine that you're sitting on the bank of a river,

Watching the fast-flowing water in front of you.

Hear the river.

Smell its freshness.

Imagine that you're a pebble on the riverbank.

Someone picks you up and throws you,

The pebble,

Into the middle of the river.

The pebble sinks effortlessly through the water.

You fall through the water without holding on to anything.

Allow yourself to sink naturally and freely.

Watch from everything it falls without effort on the shortest path to the riverbed.

It doesn't matter how long it takes.

You have plenty of time.

Everything happens without effort.

Gravity does everything for you.

Finally you reach the bottom.

Feel yourself resting on a fine bed of sand.

The water is rushing far above you.

Nothing can pull you in any direction.

Nothing can disturb your peace.

You have reached the point where there is only stillness.

There's nothing to do.

Just let go and rest here in the present moment.

In this way you practice stopping.

Everything allows everything to be at peace.

Let the river flow far above you.

There's nothing to strive for.

No need to act or to struggle.

There is nothing to achieve.

By recognizing your restless habits,

They lose their energy.

Allow yourself to feel the stillness.

Enjoy the peace of this moment where the future becomes the present.

Everything is happening by itself and without effort.

There's no pressure,

Nothing to control.

Relax even more deeply.

Enjoy the peace of this moment.

Feel your breath.

Feel yourself being present.

This is your true home.

The pebble stands for firmness and stability.

How does it feel to be firm and stable?

They are important for your happiness.

Again,

What does it feel like to be firm and stable?

As you lie still in calm water,

Notice the stillness that is both within and around you.

Do not judge.

Allow everything to happen without effort.

What a wonderful feeling!

Discover the space inside the pebble and allow yourself to become this space.

Let your firm surface become permeable.

Let the space within you and the space around you merge.

Feel the happiness as you expand into this vast space.

There are no limits to this field of presence.

Feel the wide space and experience freedom.

Without freedom,

No one can be truly happy.

Therefore think three times.

Breathing in,

I feel like space.

Breathing out,

I feel free.

Breathing in,

I feel like space.

Breathing out,

I feel free.

Breathing in,

I feel like space.

Breathing out,

I feel free.

Let the pebble become firm and stable again.

Feel it lying silently on the sand bed.

Feel the here and the now.

I hope you enjoyed this podcast.

Thank you for this. I realized I was very off balance and was trying to find something to get comfortable with myself and the moment again....the analogy of the pebble being beneath the rushing river really took me to a place where I could detach, let go, and get back to the basics of being in the moment. Thank you, again.

Overall very nice. I thoroughly enjoyed the breathing in “I feel space” and the breathing out “I feel freedom” but it was too rushed. A bit of time to feel the release of breathing out would have been lovely. I could have done without the donation request at the end of the meditation. Found it disruptive. The website info could go in the author description.

I liked this very much, especially as I have a very busy monkey mind that needs calming. 🙏
