Sorry.
Yeah,
Yeah,
I'm sorry.
So Understand that natural state we covered in the last session Natural state is the highest state That we understood natural state means that we are living in happiness,
Peace,
We are living in meditation or you can say the meditation is living in Us all the time,
But what happens?
That I we cannot live in that state of meditation all the time.
That is what we are going to understand in today's session In today's session what we have what destroys the natural state and how And the simple thing is psychology of desires What is that psychology of desires?
All the desire takes the shape of thoughts Because if I don't have I want smartphone I want PC I like her or him.
He is a soulmate You see that all desire takes the form of a thought and these thought patterns Always runs in our mind Always runs in our mind Pay attention Lara and everyone thoughts are of many types some of them we know Some of them we know a little Some of them enters from the past impressions stored in the mind and some of them from the previous lives that we have covered in the Previous series some of them are in the seed form waiting expression Thoughts,
Psychology of desires we are understanding So we are covering the two three or I would say four texts together the Gita Patanjali Yoga Sutra and two more that makes everything clear in our life and If I have to empty the mind of all these thoughts which do not Pop up in the mind,
But it has an impression What that impression?
The mind you someone's you know your honey says Honey says bring a cup of tea and the mind says no I'm not interested.
So it comes out with kind of a resistance So many thoughts are deep inside many thoughts are at the conscious level some thoughts we want to hide They are also present.
So we have to understand the psychology of desires based on these thoughts Thought is a desire So now we will understand simple principle I Have covered many times,
But I'm covering again from the Gita.
I See an object anything outside and The mind is impulsive habitual and instinctive three things Just take it three things mind is instinctive impulsive and habitual and I see a thing Instantly my mind says I like it or I dislike it So when it is I like it and I I like it and I So liking and disliking causes Liking and disliking causes what I Start thinking about it now one thought multiplied into millions of thoughts because I have started thinking about it thinking about it and Then that thinking causes the attachment and attachment Attachment and detachment Causes the desire in the mind.
So you see that the thoughts are already there one thought of liking and disliking and the mind starts thinking Chain series of the thoughts and those thoughts lives in the mind Then the thoughts causes an attachment and attachment attachment and detachment causes the desire Are you getting it?
Simple Simple So now what happens when I have a desire so it says What says krodha tbhabhati sammoha?
Sammoha tsmrati vibhrama Smrati Vrajnashat buddhinasha buddhinasha Pranasyati you see we started with we have started with with instinctive impulsive habitual mind So that creates liking disliking I started thinking attachment and detachment attachment and detachment Cause the desire and desire fulfilled pleasure desire unfulfilled anxiety Fear pain and the pleasure are siblings So now desire fulfilled So mind always has a doubt whether my desire will be fulfilled Whether my desire will not be fulfilled So the pleasure and the pain and the fear is always there all the three causes the delusion and what is delusion?
I liked I like that girl for example Only sam is younger so I like that So now what happens you you start thinking about it?
You start thinking the mind says she or he is my soul mate But actually it is not it is delusion what I see What seems to be true it is not true that happens at every moment in my life Let me take a cup of tea I have in a headache if the headache is gone very good if the headache is not gone That cup of coffee is not valid so delusion comes Now see do you remember where we started we started with mind that is habitual Impulsive and instinctive now that that delusion Leads to loss of memory and loss of intelligence And it goes back to the same state of the mind instinctive habitual So my mind continues to move around that instinctive mind because loss of intelligence because loss of memory and because my mind is moving in a circle So all these thoughts are understood as vritti Thought modifications Are you getting it?
It does not want it cannot break that circle And that is what is the psychology of desires What is the psychology of desires And that is why we continue to suffer I have an extreme attachment to the money what I will do What I will do I will try to hold on to that money in my mind in an instinctive way in an habitual way In an impulsive way Do you see that?
Anything in the world that is what the psychology of desire and that will not help you to live in peace and happiness That delusion thought causes delusion Here I compare Lara is listening Here I compare do you know what is amnesia is do you know what is diminish is See It is not that the doctor diagnosed you that you are suffering from diminish or amnesia you have to find out here and now I'm just comparing it.
I'm not diagnosing anything Not entering into the medical profession Diminish is a general term of a loss of memory loss of language problem solving other thinking abilities What I'm What I'm doing by inviting these thought pattern tell me What I'm doing What I'm doing by creating a cycle What I'm doing by creating a cycle I'm not saying anything But I'm just explaining you So doctors medical science says there are seven stages of algema disease no impairment,
You know In the young age I see no I can remember everything and there is no problem But now thoughts are present in millions So the medical profession doctors scientists explain algema means loss of memory or No symptoms of dimnesia Uh in the first stage you're happy in the second stage You feel the very mild decline third stage mild decline moderate decline moderately severe And ultimately memory loss is there Can I take care of the mind from today?
Can I change my perception can I change my perception?
Do you see that I related psychology of desires with This problem Of amnesia and amnesia That is what the doctor also in our eastern wisdom also says loss of memory loss of intelligence Leads to that causes the suffering.
So here the doctor is saying you simply have a loss of memory,
But no We have lot of other problems that we have in our life We start blaming and reacting and fighting Etc,
Etc to the people So the master says get rid of this attachment and attachment It doesn't mean that you should not work work work work Walk on walk on walk on But After understanding we have to get rid of the very first factor That is attachment and detachment that causes the desire But it doesn't mean that we should not work.
We should continue to work Mind should be calm Not to dictate over the intellect then only one succeeds in meditation this Mind will cause and create a lot of issues Oh,
What is this meditation today?
I did it,
You know,
It doesn't work You have accumulated millions of the thoughts for the last 10 years and you want one session to take care of you Last point and then we will do the practice That desire lives in the sense organ That desire lives in the mind that desire lives in the intellect You have to catch hold of the desire living in the sense organ Who will do that?
Intellect,
But if the intellect is not dominated dictated by the mind How it is dictated by the mind?
You have the answer Mind is in impulsive habitual instinctive That does not give a time For the intellect to think it over to contemplate and reflect You can be in peace at any time in life That is the basic fundamental Are you getting it Are you understanding that point you have to listen to it again and again and to come to the point?
Come to the point Why we are doing it last point What is the goal meditation or Mindfulness,
What is that goal emptiness of the mind all the crazy thoughts.
Can I live separately from all these thoughts?
To live into that peace and happiness to ask The peace to enter into any work in any relationship at any point of time So that is why we understood the psychology of desires And now we will do the practice and We will close your eyes Close your eyes Look at the body Look at the body When you are looking at the body You feel the sensation And then you look at the mind How do you look at the mind you start moving the mind looking into the space inside the head or the heart?
Why we say this understand every step clearly no mysticism no hallucinations Pronunciations You are looking at a space inside the head to move the mind inside To bypass the instinctive habitual and impulsive mind Why how it will happen you are using the intellect You're not asking and you are You are going away from the mind by keeping the body steady I know these are higher practices.
I'll be adding couple of more steps But if you have a clarity of understanding the practice becomes easy Easy Very good my friends So position of the body you are comfortable you feel a sense of We did nothing in the first step And in the second step,
We will do the knowledge practice And then we will see what happens to the mind that is the power of the knowledge Our master used to say knowledge is that power by which we liberate us from the suffering So in the second step,
Which is the knowledge practice we move from many to oneness We ask the intellect to deepen the knowledge and understanding We move to the ultimate cause of our existence So What we do look inside the head in the space mentally singing and Listening what you sing you listen mentally sarvesham Sarvesham Singing and listening sarvesham swasthir bhavatthu Sarvesham swasthir bhavatthu So now singing Listening and meaning meaning of this phrase is what is that phrase?
Meaning is Let there be well-being Everywhere Why we are doing this?
Because we want to get rid of all the thought pattern our goal is same Sarvesham Swasthir bhavatthu Meaning the mind knows the meaning Sarvesham swasthir bhavatthu Sarvesham swasthir bhavatthu We did it three times now singing listening meaning and the knowledge So what is that that well-being is present everywhere in all the beings why we say that?
We are discovering the one common element You need not to worry about anything the people are different you have to see inside Everyone if inside me is there is a space and there is a calmness So inside every being on this earth.
There is a well-being That awareness is required sarvesham swasthir bhavatthu sarvesham swasthir bhavatthu sarvesham swasthir bhavatthu The mind the intellect is knowing this now the second line The mind Singing in the listening first step in that sarvesham shanti Bhavatthu you are singing in your mind You are listening to it sarvesham shanti bhavatthu sarvesham shanti Bhavatthu now with the meaning shanti means peace peace is all-pervading Because the way the mind sees I have anxiety reaction blame complain with anything and everything in the world We are opposing that tendency of the mind which is instinctive impulsive and habitual We are saying peace is everywhere inside everything Sarvesham shanti bhavatthu Singing listening and meaning sarvesham shanti bhavatthu sarvesham shanti bhavatthu Now with the knowledge Now how do I see the peace just become aware of the infinite all-pervading space everywhere in all beings sarvesham shanti bhavatthu sarvesham shanti bhavatthu You're not habitual you are fully aware sarvesham shanti bhavatthu That meaning that knowledge is available You see that you know what we are doing with this mantra we are bypassing the sense organ which contains the desire and the mind that contains the desire We are jumping to the intellect and then from the intellect we will go down We'll take care of the mind and the sense organ even the mind may have The opposite feeling let it be you continue the journey Do you see the point?
Third Singing and listening sarvesham purnambhavatthu Now with singing listening and meaning what is the meaning?
Completeness I'm complete When I'm complete do I need anything?
Can I have a desire?
You see sarvesham purnambhavatthu And now with the wisdom sarvesham purnambhavatthu Wisdom applied knowledge what is applied knowledge that sense of completeness every Thing is complete in itself That sense of completeness centered in the intellect Instantly takes over the mind and it says crazy stop this craziness blame and complain That is why we are doing it sarvesham purnambhavatthu And now the last one auspicious moment this is most important for singing and listening sarvesham mangalambhavatthu sarvesham mangalambhavatthu sarvesham mangalambhavatthu sarvesham mangalambhavatthu Now meaning What is the meaning?
A auspicious moment.
What is that auspicious moment my friends?
You keep aside your ego sense When you keep aside your ego sense and the teacher also keeps his ego aside then the real journey starts sarvesham mangalambhavatthu sarvesham mangalambhavatthu sarvesham mangalambhavatthu sarvesham mangalambhavatthu In that state my friend What we did?
Knowledge practice Knowledge is not a practice.
It is simply knowing being clear conviction And now see the state of your mind now even with the knowledge practice That is my goal to make you aware And now move the mind from the top of the head to the toes Feeling the sensation being comfortable and steadiness it becomes so natural And being carefree Do you remember?
I'm bringing this as a third step being carefree?
Yes Thoughts are coming and going Let the thought come and go Like the birds flying in the sky my friend And now I know that you all remember what we discussed today Cycle as your desires Thoughts are on the surface little lower than that little lower little lower little lower and in the seed form What Patanjali says mindfulness empty the mind of its content we have to get rid of all The stages and levels of the thought pattern Now being casual look at it You simply did if I say knowledge practice And see the state of Your being now start breathing deep silent and slow Breath is The vehicle Mind is driver Highway that space is The highway so move the mind with a deep silent slow breath inside the right arm So now see that can you reach to that so your mind is totally absorbed into the space It is a smooth ride for the breath for the mind in the space inside The right If that happens the previous two steps You have been successful I change this step in future also as we progress Now inside the left arm the same way the breath is Car mind is driver Highway space you will experience as if you are too far from your own body That happens through different experiences Now inside the right leg You have a right intention of doing the yeah I'll talk later continue the journey And Beautiful I appreciate you all Now inside the left leg Beautiful in that state of the stillness in the body you see that stillness also indicates why I'm saying beautiful Being still naturally without any force gives me gives us an idea that the mind is living within Not enforcing this stillness natural and why it happened it happened due to the knowledge practice in the first two steps Now inside the spine from the crown of the head to the tailbone and from the tailbone to the crown of the head You're just keeping your awareness in the space We'll understand later is the space inside or outside or everywhere Our masters have done favor to us explaining Everything any question every question is answered You know we may have an agenda and now move the mind from the crown of the head to the belly button with the breath in from the belly button to the crown of the head That is the center of action so as you inhale the mind is moving from the crown of the head drop sing mentally And it strikes at the belly button while breathing out you start singing from the belly button it strikes at the crown of the head we are doing ascending and descending journey together Why we are doing it?
Can I become aware where the knowledge desire and action are one You know what happens then?
You are in a really deep meditative state that is why we are doing it continue Return to it I know some should not disturb you And And now inside now inside From the crown of the head to the heart only it is still inside and your breath becomes shorter Casual natural you inhale mind moves from the crown of the head to the heart dropping And from the heart to the crown of the head Simply doing it in the state of sensation relaxation and stillness when the mind is living within it gives a glimpse of one unitary consciousness working behind Our desire our knowledge and action So what will happen?
The mind will not cause any repels of thoughts.
No I want this I know I have to go I have to go I'm in rush I'm in rush That is where we are trying to reach Now inside crown of the head no more change in the rate and the rhythm of the breath So simply the breath drops and the mind moves from the crown of the head to inside the forehead dropping Returns um it is so small how it is done with the weirdness It is so just a spur of a moment just drop of water gives us the knowledge Where is that oh here it is finished Consciousness to travel from the center of the wisdom to the heart takes little longer time And further longer to reach to a center of action and then we start acting in our life So here we are returning to the source Um Oh Leave this casually looking at the breath om out om and check that where the mind goes away wherever the mind goes away Whenever the breath goes in you drop om casually return the mind to the infinite space inside when the breath comes out you drop om And behind om you see the infinite space we are taking one attribute of the om or the real nature which is all pervading Um Beautiful.
And doing nothing.
As plain as you are.
Shanti Shanti Shanti.
Om Shanti Shanti Shanti.
Om Shanti Shanti Shanti.
Bring your mind on the right hand.
Be there.
Bring your mind on the left hand.
Be there.
Lift your Buddha palms.
Place it on your eyes.
Open the eyes inside your palms.
And know your experiences.
Bring the hands down.
How are you,
Sam?
Now you have to unmute.
I'm not listening your sweet voice.
I'll do you,
Sergei,
In the meantime.
Yes.
Yes.
It's way better.
Yes.
So clear understanding should be there.
That's why we started a little deeper series.
I don't see you,
David and Jerry.
So we started a new series.
In the first we understood that what is the natural state.
And in this today's session,
We understood the psychology of desires prompted by the thoughts,
Millions of the thoughts.
Why I discussed that point when you explained and shared your experiences?
Because the mind was struggling with multiple thought patterns.
So once we have a clarity of understanding followed by the practice,
It will change.
So don't worry.
It's a journey.
It's a part of the journey.
So and in the next session,
We will understand that how these thought patterns causes the disturbance and what needs to be done within a mind and intellect and practice.
How are you,
Stephen?
I'll come to you,
Sam.
I'm good.
I'm good,
Sir.
It was a different experience.
Like I always say,
I love your lessons.
Obviously,
We had some problems with us getting on and starting late and whatever it is.
And typically in this was a year ago,
That would freak me out and stress me out and whatever it was.
And I just let it be.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
And let into your lesson.
Thank you.
The experience.
Thank you.
So it was an experience of complete awareness.
Beautiful.
I knew what I was what was happening from start to finish.
The most the thing that was different for me in this one was the beginning.
Well,
We were when you were chanting the songs,
I was intently listening to the words,
Which I struggled with.
But it was the sounds and how that resonated with me.
And what I then noticed was I found myself sitting in a sphere of white light.
Beautiful.
And and from there,
It was like,
You know,
As you taught,
Don't really focus in on those experiences and let them go.
So every time I let that go,
I felt this pressure on my heart.
Good.
And then I would then go back and I'd see myself in this sphere.
So I just felt safe and it just allowed me to go through.
I mean,
I was conscious everywhere through my body,
Through the crown to the spine,
The energy,
The whole feeling of it was was fantastic.
Beautiful.
That's really a deeper experience.
In spite,
Yes.
That is one way to explain it.
And the more deeper we go.
And I know that you you pick up the things intellectually very clearly.
So that gives a deeper sense that leads you to a greater awareness.
That is what you have been explaining.
So it is by the constant journey.
So we are doing the constant journey,
We are understanding.
So one day what will happen?
Your intellect will pick up.
This is it.
And done.
Then you are not.
Then your mind is never crazy.
Never lazy.
It is aware.
How are you Sam?
David and Jerry,
I don't see you.
OK.
OK.
We're having a problem I think with our camera,
But we can hear you.
Can you hear us?
Yes,
Yes,
Yes,
We can hear.
So let us.
.
.
Yeah,
What happened?
You can hear us.
I don't know why we don't.
Our camera is not working,
But the meditation was really nice and easy from start to finish.
Really enjoy the mantra.
Similar to what Stephen said,
Just letting that vibration kind of resonate and the meaning resonate through that there would be well-being.
That.
.
.
Speciousness,
Peace.
Yes,
Completeness.
Yeah.
And I found that at one point during the niyasa,
I was going ahead.
You were in the right leg and I was already moving to the left leg and I kind of just had to tell myself,
No,
No,
No hurry.
Just stay in the right leg.
You get to the left leg.
OK,
Good.
But it was really nice with a lot of light and I try not to get distracted by the colors and the light.
Yes,
Yes.
That's a beautiful way to explain it.
That's a beautiful.
.
.
And yes,
And David?
You know,
It was a different experience for me because the sort of the technology at the beginning was a little frustrating,
But then that became sort of part of the practice of just letting that go.
And I found myself in this.
At one point,
I was it was almost like I was going through a jump thrower,
Like throwing things out.
And I was getting deeper and deeper as I was throwing more things out.
And it was all these thoughts that I was throwing out.
I can't tell you what I thought it was,
But they were just being chucked out of this drawer,
Which was then turned into this vortex thing that I got into.
Ah,
That's beautiful.
Yeah,
It was kind of fun.
That's really beautiful.
That's a deeper,
Deeper and deeper we are doing.
And how about you,
Sam?
Can you hear me?
Yes,
Now I can hear you.
I couldn't figure out my technology.
Well,
I think as soon as you started the chance towards the beginning,
I lost you.
There were a few times where I was imagining myself walking around my house,
Walking down a flight of stairs.
And I,
You know,
Caught myself a few times thinking a lot about the idea of desire because it's pretty perfect for me right now.
I have an important interview on Thursday afternoon.
And,
You know,
It's been worrying me.
But if I wasn't thinking about it,
It's been worrying me.
I know what I need to do to prepare for it.
So I'm doing those things.
But,
You know,
There are other things that I've been doing,
You know,
If I'm going to get a haircut,
If I'm going to do a Zoom interview,
I want to get ashamed.
But if I just do those things and don't think about it,
It's better off than me just sitting and thinking about it.
There's nothing that's in front of that.
I believe that is how the meditation and mindfulness journey or meditation practice should enter into you.
First thing about the desire.
I think you did,
Perhaps you did not attend a couple of sessions in the last series.
What we say that desire should not be dictated by the ego sins and seeking fruit of an action.
You remove both.
Then you should have a desire to succeed in the interview.
So your focus is only on the interview.
I would say 90 percent and 10 percent,
Your haircut,
What shirt and what the rest of the things that you do.
That will make a tremendous difference because the mind will not be dictated by the instinct,
Habit and impulse.
Because the more you care outside,
You may have 50 shirt,
You have to wear only one.
Just find out what is formal.
Choose one finished.
Tell the mind that is it.
Have the haircut before the interview done.
Don't start thinking,
You know,
These hairs are like this,
You know,
You look at,
You know,
I'm already barred.
So do you see my barred face or do you see my barredness or do you listen to me?
Knowledge is very important.
Knowledge is very important and what is the knowledge,
What is very important,
Which is the most important knowledge?
You know you can land up to the moon,
You know the Mars,
You know the earth and if you don't know your real self,
You do not know anything.
So when I know my thing,
I know myself and I know my nature,
Which is peace and happiness.
And then I have a desire which you just explained the interview.
So the mind remains steady,
Calm,
The intellect is always wise.
It will retrieve the best information possible at the time of appearing interview.
