When we face uncertain times,

All sorts of feelings arise within us.

Our nervous system is easily triggered and the feelings can cause a stress response within our body and mind.

One way to relax a system can be to meditate.

In this meditation,

We'll use a simple affirmation to help the body and mind understand that no matter what your life's circumstances are at the moment,

You are and always will be safe.

Noticing how your breath expands with the in-breath and relaxes with the out-breath.

I invite you to begin to arrive here and now on your mat,

Meditation cushion or chair,

Or whatever you're sitting on.

See if you can gently let go of everything that has already happened today and everything that is going to happen later on.

You are here right now and that's the only thing that matters in this very moment.

You are welcome to close the eyes if you feel like it and if you prefer to keep the eyes open,

Soften your gaze at a fixed point on the floor in front of you.

Now,

Start to feel the weight of your body pressing down and the contact of your body with the floor underneath you.

And just settle in the space around you,

Allowing sounds around you to come and go.

If you feel like it,

Place your hands on your heart just for a few moments to reconnect with your body and heart.

Then relax your palms down onto your lap again.

Feel the ground underneath you and the support it offers your feet and body.

There will always be solid ground beneath you to support you and your body.

If you feel like it,

You can say the mantra,

I am safe.

I am safe.

I am safe.

Staying with the physical sensations of the rising and falling of the breath.

Noticing any thought distractions and gently bringing your awareness back to the breath.

Now,

Just bring the awareness back to the body,

Feeling the weight of your body pressing down,

Feeling the feet on the floor,

Noticing your breath and the rhythm of your breath.

Noticing sounds around you.

For a few moments,

Just let your mind be free to do whatever it wants to do.

Now,

You can gently open your eyes if you have them closed.

Thank you for meditating with me today.
