Reset To Factory Settings (Live Replay #34)
by Philip Wade
You've undoubtedly seen that option on many a device! Everyone is really looking for that switch, click, trick or how to. A Return to Innocence. Recognising Infinite Awareness is profoundly simple and so easily missed. Accepting and embracing it totally is fundamental. This is one of a Programme of Self Realisation Live Stream Replays available. IT Group: Nothing Special with Philip Wade.

🎶 So welcome everybody,
Welcome,
I'm Wade here from North Yorkshire,
England,
Broadcasting from the home of the Universal Studio.
So yeah,
As I say,
Tonight's stream is titled Reset to Factory Settings.
Reset to Factory Settings.
And that's really a very appropriate title for the whole process of meditation and self-realisation.
You know,
As I said in the introduction to it,
That you'll have seen advertised,
You know,
All the devices these days,
They all have this facility,
Don't they,
To,
At the click of a button,
To reset to factory settings.
And self-realisation is like that,
Meditation is like that.
The reason it's like that is,
You see,
Like on a device that you're resetting to factory settings when things are not going well with it,
Or things are going wrong,
Those factory settings on the device are already there.
They're imprinted in the device,
And you know,
Following whatever the process,
The money a factory says,
You can quickly reset to factory settings,
And it's already there,
Already waiting.
And that's true also of self-realisation.
When the true nature of the self is realised,
One of the many awarenesses that comes with it,
And for those who've been on the streams before,
Well I've heard me say this,
But it's really important for me to emphasise this,
Is that actually what's realised is that you,
As this realisation,
As this infinite silence,
As this infinite awareness,
This infinite consciousness that's realised,
Have always been that,
And have never not been it.
This is profoundly important.
It's always you have been that,
And you have never not been that,
And that is seen with such clarity as the self is realised.
It is,
To use the term,
Truly self-evident,
And this self is a capitalised self,
As infinite awareness or infinite consciousness.
The reason most people don't seem to realise this,
And that's true now,
Is only ultimately for one reason,
And that's because we believe in what I refer to across all the live streams I'm doing here.
We believe in a case of mistaken identity,
And that is the only block to spiritual self-realisation,
That belief in a case of mistaken identity,
Which is a belief in separation,
It's a belief that all I am is this body-mind,
And separate from that which you truly are,
As infinite silence or infinite awareness or infinite consciousness.
And the whole process of spiritual self-realisation,
And in truth,
Meditation,
Because the realisation is also that you are in fact a living meditation,
As infinite consciousness,
Infinite awareness,
Infinite silence,
The whole process is about dissolving that one flawed belief.
Every other issue that's experienced on that journey,
And all the blocks that we experience,
To true peace,
Inner peace,
Joy,
Gratitude,
And so forth in our lives,
They're all basically the subsets of that one mistaken belief.
The core part to it is that single flawed belief.
So the question comes then,
Well how do we,
This is the question everybody wants to know the answer to,
How to dissolve that belief,
How to realise this inner peace,
How to come to this knowing,
To this realisation.
And in the same way that this realisation is profoundly simple,
The how-to is also ultimately,
For a moment,
Simply simple,
And it's through the power of awareness.
Let me say that again,
It's through the power of awareness.
That's it.
It is nothing more complicated than that.
That's the beginning and the end of the story,
Awareness.
And this awareness that I'm speaking of isn't a personal identity awareness,
It's an awareness that is universal,
And that's within us all now.
The other thing about this factory setting thing that I want to say about,
And I'll come on to recognising this awareness with some exercises in a short while,
Is that just to emphasise,
And I'm going to say five key points here,
The factory setting that we're all looking for is that which you truly are.
That which you truly are.
It's never not here,
Even if it feels like it's not here,
It's still here,
So it's never not here,
Even if it feels like it's not here.
You're never not it,
But it's just a different way of saying the one I've said above.
There's never been a time when you were not this awareness.
Never.
And you don't need to believe me on that,
It simply becomes realised.
The realised essence itself is indeed infinite awareness,
Infinite silence.
That's what it is,
And that's what you are.
And finally,
It can also be referred to as the is-ness.
The is-ness of the is.
It just is awareness.
That's aware of itself as awareness.
Sometimes also referred to as the absolute.
And the absolute and the finite domain we experience in the human domain are not separate,
They are one.
They are one.
These are very important points,
They are one and not separate.
Now I can just hear my computers starting to heat up a little bit,
So I'm going to turn a fan on here and hopefully it won't disturb you,
But let me know if this fan noise is too much.
So that's all there now,
Hopefully it's not too messy.
And because of those five points I've just shared,
This is why it's called a realisation.
Everybody's had,
You know,
Realisations.
You may be looking at something,
Learning something,
Suddenly you have this aha moment,
Oh my gosh I have just realised this,
And it's been,
So to speak,
Staring you in the face all along.
Self-realisation is like that,
Except it's the greatest aha moment,
The greatest oh my gosh moment in the universe.
Oh my gosh I am that,
And that being infinite silence or infinite awareness or infinite consciousness.
So it's a realisation,
It's not something that is being built up,
I'm really emphasising this point folks,
It's not something that's being built up through years of practice,
As one person I remember at an event said that she had thought it would be that way.
No it's not like that,
It's already here and you are it,
Already here.
The spiritual practice and the meditation is about opening to that recognition,
That realisation,
And along with that,
And this is very important,
The dissolution of the emotional body or the pain body,
Because that gets formed from the belief in the case of mistaken identity,
Along with experiences of separateness and traumatic experiences,
Typically,
Although not exclusively,
In childhood it could happen at any time in our lives.
These things must go together.
It's our realisation.
I cannot over-emphasise the importance of that word realisation.
And then the self part of self-realisation isn't a personal element of it,
It's a universal state of awareness that we all are,
That is uniquely expressed in infinite variety.
Just like in my now infamous,
Shall we say,
Fibre optic length that some of you may see,
I'll just reiterate it one more time,
We think we are separate,
If you are your body-mind experiences is one of these points of light here,
And you're looking outwards into the world,
You see a world of separation where you're separate from all the other body-minds,
And that's just the people.
The meditative journey,
The reset to factory settings,
The realisation of the self,
Spiritual enlightenment,
Is all about looking down the filament.
Looking down the filament.
First recognising that,
Just like in the baroptic lamp here,
All of the light from all of these points is actually coming from one source.
One source.
And in the metaphor I refer to this as spheres of light,
Spheres plural of light,
Because that's how it came to me.
It's equivalent to the pure universal state I am.
You hear that a lot in spirituality,
The I am.
The I am is beingness,
Pure beingness,
Universal beingness that we all share.
And that is the,
It's like a very creative energy,
Very powerful creative energy,
That is the primary part of the infinite expressions,
And your body-mind is one of those.
Stars,
Galaxies,
Planets,
Other creatures are all part of that.
So that's that part,
The first,
The recognition of this pure beingness.
Important to understand is that where does the power for this light,
This pure beingness,
The pure infinite I am come from?
And in the metaphor,
In this case,
That's the battery.
That's the battery.
The power.
Now obviously in the metaphor it has a limitation because the battery is right at the bottom here.
In truth,
As far as the entirety of the universe is concerned,
That power is everywhere and nowhere in particular.
It is infinite in its nature and everything appears within that,
If I call it infinite sphere of infinite silence or infinite awareness or infinite consciousness or the isness or the true self.
So the reset is about recognizing you are that,
You are that.
Are that.
Never not that.
Never not that.
So this is good news because we're not looking for something that we're trying to develop or grow into.
We're looking to recognize that which we already are,
Not realize that which we already are.
And this is what makes it so simple.
Ultimately there is nothing to learn about this.
Nothing.
It may appear that people like me who are offering insights and so forth are sharing things that,
On the face of it,
You may not appear to know or have not yet recognized.
And it will,
And people get called teachers,
Masters,
Guru,
But in the end it is seen that you are always that and have never not been that.
And so ultimately it is not a process of learning,
It's a process of realizing.
Quite often when people are at events like this,
Whether it's on a live stream or here with me in person or whatever,
They have this seeing,
This aha moment from something that's been shared.
And it's not because I have told them something that they don't already know.
It's because they have realized what was already known within.
Let me say that again.
It's because they have realized what is already known within.
Oh my gosh,
I have just recognized or realized this.
And the reason that was possible is because it was already known.
And this simple fact of these aha moments that people have,
And there may be many of those on the journey,
The thing to recognize in that pattern is that it was already known.
It was already known.
And that's only possible because,
As I've said several times already,
That which you are seeking is that which you already are.
You've just forgotten.
You've just forgotten.
You're making sense,
Folks.
Making sense.
So,
Given its simplicity,
Another question that might come is,
Well,
You know,
Like on a device,
That reset can take a minute,
It might take a matter of a few seconds.
Why isn't it like that?
Self-realization,
If we already are this.
And the answer to that goes back to the point I was saying earlier.
We believe so much in this identity as me,
As this body-mind experience,
And we hang on to that identity so much that,
If you like,
Acts as a break or a delay factor upon that experience.
Because the one thing that that identity,
The ego-mind,
The body-mind experience,
Doesn't want,
And fears most,
Is its demise.
It fears its demise the most.
It clings on like fingernails onto a cliff.
And we use every trick in the book to hold on to that,
Because we've invested so much energy into this identity.
And our belief acts like a barrier or an armour that's been constantly protected in many different ways,
Whether conscious or unconscious.
And so,
For most people,
The process takes a period of years as they go into the meditative journey.
More and more insights,
Evenings,
And awareness,
Clearing of elements of the emotional body take place.
They gradually start to feel lighter and lighter,
Opening up more and more,
More and more layers of the belief onion,
More and more layers of the pain body get dissolved.
And then eventually,
There's a kind of ripeness,
A ripeness that arises in a particular being,
And it's at that point that the realisation can flower.
As I say,
For most people,
That journey will take years.
And this is not wrong or right,
It is what it is.
So the journey is just as important,
Because that journey,
Everything that we've ever experienced up to the point of that realisation has been essential to its realisation.
Even those things that we might class as bad or whatever or just indifferent,
Is all a process of invitations,
Of dissolving and dissolution as layers of this identity and the emotional pain body that goes with it.
All making sense so far,
I trust.
So I'm just looking at what Lee is saying here.
I am seeing through so many of my identities now through meditation.
Such a relief to know none of them that is real.
Excellent Lee,
Excellent.
And I know that you've shared some of that with me directly,
And that is very important,
Because we hold on to these identities for dear life,
But actually all they do for us is create suffering.
And that's why I call it a case of mistaken identity.
And that identity may have many facets,
Many different elements to it.
So the good news in all of this,
The reset button,
The factory settings are already here,
And the power isn't outside of you,
It isn't in external things,
It's within the awareness that you already are.
So that's why I spend so much time reiterating this from many different angles to help you see that which is already here.
It's not about variety and so forth,
It's about depth.
So much effort has gone into the conditioning and the suffering you've already experiencing.
The meditative practice,
The spiritual journey,
Is about deepening into that practice of recognising awareness.
That's why regular meditation and commitment to the inner journey from the heart space are so important.
It's not so much about quantity,
It's much more about depth.
The depth of the seeing,
The willingness from within to let go of that which you are not.
This idea,
This belief that all I am is the body-mind.
Okay,
So I think there's a question there from the far last,
So I'll just have a look at that.
Are there any individuals who can get this naturally without any effort?
People who are chosen of some kind and why has God created us?
So there's two questions there created us to suffer.
You know what,
For now this is what I'm about to say might sound really strange,
But the answer to your first part is everybody.
That might sound crazy to you because you're saying who can get this naturally without any effort?
And the answer to that in truth is everyone.
Now why doesn't that appear to be the case then?
You see,
The way that we are taught and conditioned into operating in this body-mind experiences is that you do A to get B to happen,
You go through A,
B,
C,
D and so on,
And it takes effort and time.
For those who have been on previous streams you may have heard me say this,
And this relates directly to Van As's question here now,
Meditation begins as a practice,
Something that you formally sit down and it appears that you're learning to do,
And there's some effort going into that,
Some effort,
Some practice,
Sometimes it feels like you're getting it,
Sometimes it feels like you're trying really hard,
All these things have some degree of effort in them.
It ends as a spiritual practice,
Meditation begins as a practice,
And it ends as a realization.
It ends as a realization.
Oh my gosh,
I am already that.
And what that means in relation to Van As's question is that it is actually ultimately effortless.
So sometimes I express it this way to help people get it,
The purpose of all spiritual practice is so you don't have to.
Let me say that again,
The purpose of all spiritual practice is so you don't have to.
Don't have to what?
Practice that being who you really are.
It becomes self-evident,
And as that flowers and the emotional body has also been dissolved,
Then there's a kind of effortless vigilance,
A field of awareness that is always here.
So self-realization is actually ultimately coming to this effortless place.
The reason the effort is there in the first place is because of the belief in the case of mistaken identity.
It is only through effortlessness,
Listen carefully folks,
It is only through ultimately effortlessness that the realization falls.
All of the practices,
Therefore,
All of the tools,
All of the techniques must ultimately fall away and drop.
And I did a live talking about that,
In fact I think it might have been the last live,
Pointing out that we must be prepared ultimately to go beyond all of our tools,
All of our techniques.
It's not that the tools and techniques and practices are wrong,
No,
It's not that.
They simply serve as bridges,
Steps,
Like spiritual stepping stones to this realization.
They are only bridges,
They are only stepping stones,
And as it is realized,
This also will become self-evident.
So that's the exploration and response to Vanhassie's first question,
The first part of her question.
So,
And the other important word that you've got there is chosen.
Chosen.
And this is a misunderstanding that can crop up in the journey of spiritual self-realization,
Because there can be this belief that,
Oh,
He,
She,
Or whatever is the chosen one,
Or they are the chosen one.
All my friends are chosen.
Let me say that again,
All are chosen.
But because most of us make the choice because of the belief in the case of mistaken identity,
We choose actually,
Ultimately,
Although we may not realize this,
We're actually choosing the suffering.
That doesn't feel much fun,
Does it?
But actually it's because of that unconscious belief in the case of mistaken identity,
That the suffering comes into manifestation in the first place.
Oh my gosh,
What have I just said there?
You mean we're actually choosing this?
Well,
Until that becomes conscious,
That unconscious belief is the root of your suffering,
All of it,
And you don't need to believe me on this.
I'm just going back up to find the rest of your words there,
And then you go on to say,
Whoa,
It just raised back up,
It's going to go back up there,
And why has God created us to suffer?
Well,
There's a misunderstanding.
The suffering only comes about because of the belief in the case of mistaken identity.
Only comes about,
And that is a choice,
A belief is a thought obsessed with itself.
I am this body-mind,
And if you believe that enough,
You will create that as your experience,
And then you'll become the trauma and the experiences of this body-mind.
So the good news is here is that having made that choice,
We also have the power within to undo that choice.
And so sometimes I can refer to this as the chosen oneness.
It's an inner choice to recognise that which is already here,
An inner choice.
Your heart,
And I don't just mean your physical heart,
I mean the heart space of the universe,
Is calling you to this recognition always.
Like this far-nose.
Right,
Hang on a second,
I'm just going to go back up just to see what Lee's saying.
Yes,
Yes,
Realised how attached I was to suffering seems crazy but true.
This is so important,
What you've just written down there Lee.
We don't realise that we've become attached to our suffering,
And we've become attached to our suffering by our continued energy put into holding on to these identities.
And the reason that happens is the identity at some level is going,
Who will I be?
Listen to this carefully,
Who will I be without this identity?
And the answer to that,
The identity,
The ego-mind,
Does not like one bit because the answer to that is nothing or no-thing.
But it turns out this no-thing is infinite,
It's actually infinite awareness or infinite consciousness or infinite silence.
And so the identity hangs on,
Hangs on for dear life so to speak because it equates its demise,
Its dissolution with death of the body vehicle when it's not the body vehicle of dying.
It's the identity,
It's the belief in that mistaken identity that's dying.
And sometimes I'll refer to it this way,
Life is death,
Life is death.
And the death there is the death in the belief of the case of mistaken identity,
Not the death of the body vehicle.
Very important.
Let me just scroll up,
I'm just going to pick up on a couple more things and I'm going to go to an exercise after this.
So Alan is saying,
Yet it would be correct to say that making this effort is necessary to effortlessly realise truth.
Yes,
The effort at first is necessary,
Is the first part of the answer to that Alan,
Is a necessary step because it's quite tricky because of the beliefs I've talked about to go from efforting to effortlessness.
And so the steps,
The practices are to take you to that,
So that's okay.
Because,
I think Alan goes on to say,
Because most of people who realise the truth have made some amount of effort to awaken,
Even if the awakening itself cannot be caused by effort,
Maybe the previous effort is necessary as some kind of training,
It's not so much a training,
Although that's a useful way to look at it Alan,
It's more about building up a kind of readiness,
Ripeness through which that willingness to drop all the effort.
Flowers.
So you go from,
You might go from if you like just for one end of the expression,
Lots and lots of effort,
Through to this space of effortlessness as more and more of the tools,
Techniques and practices are dropped.
And so that also goes back to something I was saying earlier,
All of that journey that we experience in time is bringing us to this place where that then becomes possible.
So everything that has gone before,
It turns out,
Was part of that process and essential.
So that's all okay as far as I think I'm saying,
What you're saying there.
Maureen's saying,
Thank you for it,
I learned so much today and I'm grateful,
I'm glad to hear that Maureen.
I'm just going to look at a couple more of these and then we're going to do an exercise.
Nami says my first time with you,
Unfortunately it seems I've missed the entirety,
Just got out for my lunch break and I was looking forward to this and would have liked to have been incredibly helpful in the midst of all I'm dealing with.
Whoa,
Just jumped about.
I'm grateful for the few minutes I'm getting to you.
The replay of this,
An audio replay of this will be made available,
Nami,
So look out for that at some point.
And you can also join the group Nothing Special with Philip Wade and also you can listen to a whole series of live stream replays that are available,
I think there's about 15 or 16 of those available in the playlist already,
That cover many different aspects of this and they're available now on Insight Timer.
So I'm just going to go to a couple more comments and do an exercise.
Lee is saying,
Yes then don't think so much lighter and freer,
I think for me the attachment of this because I believed I deserved to suffer.
So glad that one has gone now.
Oh yeah,
That's a big one,
Lee,
This idea of believing we deserve to suffer.
So rather than going to some more comments,
Which I will come back to,
What I want to do is do a little exercise with you and then I'll come back to those other comments I've not picked up on or questions I've not picked up on yet.
It's an exercise we've done before but it,
As I said before,
This is where repetition is profoundly important.
Profoundly important.
So let's just do this exercise together.
I'm going to do it in two parts.
I'm going to do an awareness recognition meditation to start and then I'll go into what I call my who am I meditation,
Which also you'll have done various versions of before if you've been on the streams.
So you're good to go.
Good to go.
So just close your eyes.
And as you close your eyes,
Just simply,
Thirstily notice what's here.
There could be body sensations,
Breath,
Emotions,
Feelings,
Thoughts.
Just simply accept all of that is here,
Without any judgement.
It's just here now.
Almost like it's being watched like a movie from the inside.
All these different phenomena.
Sensations,
Emotions,
Feelings,
Breath.
Maybe your thoughts just watched like you're watching a movie from the inside.
Without any judgement for any need for it to be any different other than what's here now.
Now given all of these phenomena are happening,
Appearing,
What is it that can see that,
Notice that,
Is aware of these phenomena?
Notice that the phenomena,
They change over time.
Just like waves,
They come and they go.
They may increase in intensity.
They may decrease.
Always changing,
Always moving.
And yet,
Awareness,
Have you noticed it simply watches that which sees and can report the phenomena?
Have you noticed that it is unaffected by the phenomena?
It simply watches,
Simply aware.
Yet an emotion,
For example.
One minute,
It may not be here.
The next minute is right here,
Right now.
Some time later,
It's gone.
Changed.
What saw that?
What sees it?
What's still here,
Even though it's gone?
That is awareness.
And you'll notice,
Even if you can't see that right now,
The that awareness is unchanged always by the phenomena.
Always.
Always.
So now,
To help deepen this further,
We'll take the exercise a bit further.
Just going to ask inside a few questions.
And just see what comes.
Don't try,
Just wait.
Asking inside.
Who am I?
Who am I?
Who am I?
And if something comes,
That's fine.
If nothing comes,
That's also fine.
Now we go further still.
Asking this question inside.
Who am I without belief?
Who am I without belief?
Who am I?
Let me just be with that.
Who am I without belief?
And again,
If something comes,
That's fine.
Okay,
It doesn't,
That's fine,
So okay.
Asking inside now.
Who am I without conditioning?
Who am I without conditioning?
And again,
Just waiting.
If something comes,
That's fine.
If nothing comes,
That's also fine.
I'm now ready for this one folks.
Who am I without this body-mind?
Who am I without this body-mind?
Good.
Just resting with that.
Seeing what emerges.
And it's okay if nothing does or something does.
In a moment,
I'll be with the team of shout outs three times.
Good.
And if you haven't already done so,
Feel free to open your eyes.
I think one or two people have already started to share some of the things that they got with that and I'll go to those in a moment and I'll also pick up on the earlier questions.
But I want to just reiterate what we've just done there.
The first part was about just firstly beginning to recognise that it is awareness that is always here that is the one that witnesses,
Sees all the phenomena.
And not only that,
Being open to recognising that that awareness is actually completely unaffected by all phenomena.
And do not worry if you did not get that completely the first time.
Even if you're just on the edge of that,
It's still a step.
That was the first part.
And then the second part is a meditation exercise that I use a lot in a variety of different ways.
So we looked at the who am I and then we put various aspects without a phenomena.
And the purpose of those is to open to dissolving,
Removing,
Taking away this identity that comes with belief.
All of those things that I used there are belief based.
I just use different words to express it in different ways.
And this helps you step beyond mind based thinking and open you to awareness.
So I'm just going to pick up on a couple of things that one or two people have said.
Supreme self without conditioning of belief says Tracy.
She also says there's pure awareness without body mind.
Excellent.
That clearly worked for Alan as well because he's saying awesome.
I am nothing yet everything.
This is also correct.
Good seeing Ali.
That thing that's unchanged.
Oh,
There's a question.
I'll come back to that steam in a moment.
The body mind questioning was especially cool,
Says Alan.
I tend to see myself as a bunch of phenomena in the suchness later.
This has been a good session for bringing that realisation again.
Good.
An army says I am grateful things turned out the way that they have today for it allowed me to partake in this.
This is the calmest,
Most connected I felt in the midst of numerous scary difficulties transferring for some time.
Thank you.
That is fantastic.
Allow me.
Also,
It's good that you feel that way because it means there's an openness and a willingness for you to do that.
So embrace that.
Kimberly says thank you for that meditation.
I feel it very powerful.
What could it mean if certain persons came up during the meditation?
They may mean different things to you.
Kimberly depends what they're showing you.
Typically when that kind of thing arises,
Then it's showing you something,
Pointing at something.
So hopefully,
An army guy.
I am eternal.
I am everything.
I am my true self.
I am infinite.
I am expansive.
That's what came to me.
Great.
An army leader.
Fantastic.
Fantastic.
What I'm going to do now is pick up on some of those.
So whatever came for you is what's right for you.
It doesn't have to be the same as somebody else.
It depends.
We're all at different points on the journey of opening to this.
So whatever arises for you is right for you.
So don't compare.
The other thing I need to say,
Because I've not mentioned it yet already,
But I've noticed several donations have come through.
So thank you to those that have donated.
It really helps both Insight Timer,
Who provided this wonderful platform for us to share together,
And myself in terms of the equipment and stuff that helps make these lifestreams necessary.
So I really appreciate the donations.
It does take quite an investment to bring all this to you.
So thank you very much for those.
What I want to do now is pick up on some of the earlier stuff that I missed so that we can go into the exercise and see if I can find where we got to.
OK,
I think I know your question about a recap I will be doing anyway later.
So I'll pick up on that later as we move towards the end of the meditation.
I missed anything else.
Farnaz said,
I understand now,
But I also understand that nothing can be scary,
Same as universe being an expanding,
Vast space,
Scary to imagine.
Yeah,
OK,
I'm glad that you understood that explanation and provided earlier the insight earlier there,
Farnaz.
The scariness part that you refer to there is important to understand that fear only comes from the identity,
From the belief,
In the case of mistaken identity.
The fear in itself is not wrong.
What it is,
And listen to my live replay transmuting fear into love,
For further exploration of this,
Is an invitation to dissolve that fear.
And as that fear dissolves,
Ultimately the peace is recognised.
But anyway,
You've obviously had a profound experience with the later exercises we did in Army,
So that's really great.
I'm just reading through the comments here,
Trying to pick up on any questions.
I can see various people are struggling with things,
So hopefully the meditation helped you,
Sue,
And you,
Farnaz.
OK,
So there was a question from Steve.
Steve said,
That thing that's unchanged,
It's like there's no separateness,
Correct?
There is no separateness with the unchanging awareness.
That is a good observation on awareness,
Steve.
Or something,
Yeah,
There is no separateness,
The first part is correct.
Can I use that for something,
Like to make things happy?
The short answer to that,
Steve,
Is yes,
Because that unchanging awareness,
That unchanging presence,
The perfumes,
Let me put it this way,
The perfumes of that are peace,
Love,
Joy,
Gratitude.
So it's not about using it,
Those natural perfumes will arise from the recognition and embracing that unchanging awareness.
So you don't,
It's ultimately effortless.
So you're saying,
What is it?
It's infinite awareness,
It's infinite consciousness,
It's infinite silence.
It is that which you never are.
And you are right in your final comment,
It feels never-ending,
And it feels never-ending because it is never-ending,
It is in fact eternal.
It is in fact life,
And you are that,
Eternal life,
Eternal awareness,
Eternal consciousness,
Infinite silence,
Infinite awareness.
That's what it is,
That one,
That's what you are.
So hopefully that picks up on your questions,
Steve.
I've picked up on Alan's and Anani's already,
And Kimberly's.
I did start to address that about people coming up.
It depends on what those people mean to you.
They may be showing you something,
Usually showing something that you need to see or recognise.
Once again thank you for the donations,
I can see ones from Ruth Lee and Blossom I think it was.
Those are good awarenesses that you've got there.
Laura asks,
Why do we need to be quiet to experience stillness,
Consciousness,
Awareness?
Because it itself is quiet,
Laura.
Let me share something that I use in the infinite silence meditation.
In silence you will realise your truth.
In truth you will realise you are silence.
Let me say that again.
In silence you will realise your truth.
In truth you will realise you are silence.
If all your attention is on the noise,
All you will focus on is going with that noise,
Going with the train of thought.
The train of thought will take you to many stations.
None of them,
None of them are your truth.
That's why you need to be quiet.
Silence is the essence of the universe.
Sometimes ever since I remember feels like I'm looking back at myself,
Not in a mirror.
And it's like it's the first time I've seen myself is that awareness.
Sounds like that's an opening to awareness to me as I need to know a bit more,
But certainly sounds like that.
Sue is saying,
For me it is difficult to do meditations since I constantly feel I'm an overdrive and in a hypersensitive state.
There's a few things here Sue.
Whilst I don't doubt that is your experience from how you're expressing that,
If you hold on to the belief that it is difficult to do meditations,
Then that will accentuate that experience.
So key here is to be open to the fact that actually in truth meditation is that which you already are.
And that awareness recognition exercise that I did is about starting to open you to that.
So belief is also central to why people find this experience difficult to meditate.
And so that's why I do the awareness recognition exercise and it's also why I do the who and why meditation.
Because those approaches to it can help people step out of it.
Hopefully that makes sense for you Sue.
Welcome an army and everybody else.
Just like you're running back to work and everything else.
Fine,
Look out for the replays.
There are already 15,
16,
17 replays there,
An army.
So look out for those on my profile or in the group.
Nothing special that I've weighed.
Okay,
Ola is saying,
What came to me is that I am love and light.
My suffering comes from identity and attachment.
It does.
I have a question mark.
Are bodies still reinstalled emotions,
Beliefs as pain,
Etc.
How do we deal with that after being aware?
Good question Ola and for a full exploration of that,
Look at my or listen to my live stream replays,
Transmuting fear into love.
Emotions and blocks and triggers are treasures.
There's three replays there for you to listen,
Which answers that question in great depth.
But a short summary here now is that as you open to awareness,
That which is stored in the pain body or the emotional body will come to the surface naturally to be seen.
You allow yourself to feel that,
To witness that,
And the power of awareness alone will transmute it and dissolve it.
And it's captured in this insight.
Thought cannot heal your pain.
Presence,
Or presence read awareness,
Will transform it.
Thought cannot heal your pain.
Presence will transform it.
And presence is awareness.
Like that.
Lots of thank yous from Gabi and various other people.
Alex is saying recently and tonight when I came to meditate,
A hollow empty ache feels like it opens in my chest and I feel like I don't feel any emotions.
Tonight I feel like it's a kind of bodily weight running away instead of being dissolved.
It seems all consuming though,
It seems all consuming though and I can only see past it intellectually.
So this is also a phenomenon Alex that's appearing here.
The mere fact that you're able to report this means it's being seen and even the sense of it either feeling like a bodily weight or running away is still a phenomenon.
So if that can just be felt,
Be witnessed and trust only the awareness,
This phenomena too will be dissolved and will pass.
I trust that makes sense.
Ali is saying sun is rising here,
I guess you're in the land down under Ali,
Like Blossom is,
So I'm glad you could make it to the live stream tonight.
I know it's very early there.
Steve is saying can I ask you something,
But we're separate people,
Question mark,
Why,
How come we conflict enough as people even inside ourself?
The answer to that Steve is we have the experience of this separateness by believing in this separateness as per the plates of light on the pharoptic lamp here.
That creates a sense of separation inside that leads not only to an inner conflict because we believe in a separation that's not actually real,
But that same sense of separation from that belief in the separateness also creates the outer conflict.
So the inner conflict actually is the source of the outer conflict and that's why you see so much conflict in yourself and also in the world.
Like that.
Watch my live stream replay,
Sorry listen to my live stream replay,
Beyond Belief.
Beyond Belief.
OK I'm going through the rest of the comment stroke questions,
Trying to pick up the major ones.
Sue says thank you for it,
It makes so much sense,
Thank you for helping me see that.
Just a lot of fear,
Stress and emotion since my dear father suffered from a stroke.
Just feels so helpless.
I can completely get that and understand that Sue and that's really quite normal.
The live stream replays I've mentioned,
Well listen to them all if you can,
But the three that Blossom has written down for me kindly,
They're transmuting fear into love,
Emotions and blocks,
And triggers,
Actually it's triggers are treasures,
Was the other one Blossom,
Are all relevant to what you're experiencing right now.
They all are,
But those are the ones that deal with the emotions directly.
Alex is saying I just started laughing,
That's so obvious now,
Thank you Alex.
Laughed is a good response because ultimately it is.
It's like that phrase that we have in England here,
I guess it's having other languages too in different forms,
But there's a phrase we use in England and we say you can't see the wood for the trees.
You can't see the wood for the trees.
It means something can be so blindingly obvious that you miss it,
And then when it's pointed out it becomes self-evident.
It becomes self-evident.
So,
Just a quick recap which Anami was asking about earlier,
And just kind of capturing the essence of this session.
Reset to factory settings.
Major point,
That which you are seeking is already here,
You already are it,
Always have been it,
You've never not been it,
And it is infinite silence,
Infinite awareness,
Infinite consciousness.
It is the is-ness of the universe.
The reason you don't recognise it is because you believe,
In the case of mistaken identity,
That all I am is this body-mind,
When you are in fact infinite awareness,
Infinite silence.
That's the only block to self-realisation.
All other blocks are subsets of that.
Hence the meditation exercise we did to recognise that it is awareness that reports and sees all the phenomena and is unchanged by them.
That one recognition alone is the essence of meditation,
It is the essence of self-realisation.
It is that simple.
And that opening to that will gradually and ultimately effortlessly lead to the realisation,
It will also lead to the dissolution of the pain body,
Body and emotional body,
Like so.
That is the summary.
That is the summary.
I would say also,
Listen once,
Have a gab,
And listen again a few days later,
A week later or whatever.
I will guarantee you hear more the second time.
And if you listen again another week later,
You will hear more again.
And the reason for that,
This whole process of recognising awareness is deepening in you all the time.
And you will hear something the first time,
Something else deeper the next time,
And then you will hear it deeper still.
And that is why repetition is so important when it comes to self-realisation.
Because we are de-conditioning ourself,
We are de-conditioning or opening to that reset button,
And the reset button is awareness.
The reset button is awareness.
That's all.
And what are you,
My friends?
What are you?
You are already awareness.
Unchanging,
Unmoving,
Untouched,
Unblemished awareness.
End all.
And it doesn't require you to believe a single word I said about it.
And that's one of the great beauties of self-realisation,
Because it comes to be realised.
Bingo.
You are awareness.
Infinite awareness.
Unchanging awareness.
It is so simple.
So simple.
And Alan is saying,
Yeah,
But what a drama,
Volatile and ungraspable realisation that is,
With a laughing face,
Even when having insights on it,
I don't understand a damn with my mind.
It's like a blip of intuition showing the suchness.
And then the mind goes,
What was that,
And how could I possibly explain it to somebody and make it even barely understandable?
Yeah,
The one to trust there,
Alan,
Is the awareness and not the mind.
Eventually the knowingness,
The inner standing,
The knowingness will express itself,
And that which you call the mind will become in service of this,
Not the master of it,
Which is how we've been operating.
We've done it the wrong way round.
OK,
Linda saying,
Philip,
Thank you for explaining this.
I have been doing this practice and it has become so much richer.
Good,
I'm delighted to hear that,
Linda.
That's great.
Linda saying,
I am ever so thankful for sharing,
Get us made such a major impact on my life.
I'm delighted to hear that,
Linda.
I'm delighted that you've all been here.
That's it from me.
Tonight we have been looking at reset to factory settings.
Remember,
You are already that which you seek,
And the how-to is to recognise the infinite awareness that is always here,
Is unchanging,
Unwearing,
Untouched,
Unblemished.
I'll see you all on the next live stream,
But don't forget,
We've got some coming up group meditations and live replays,
Which we'll get going as soon as we can.
So look out in the group,
Nothing special with Philip Wade.
Just one more thank you for those that have made the donations.
It's much appreciated.
Thank you for being here.
The donations really do support Insight Timer and the sharing,
So that's important.
So thank you so much for joining Philip Wade here from North Yorkshire,
England,
Signing off from the Universal Studio.
Good morning,
Good afternoon or good evening wherever you are in the world.
Bye now.
