Upon the request of a student who was recently detected with stage 4 cancer, Jay created this series for anyone dealing with terminal illness or chronic pain. Pain is inevitable in life. Suffering is optional. In this practice, Jay leads us through a consoling practice on consciousness, the beauty of life, and peace inherent in passing on to a stage after life. In the course of 7 days, Jay will lead you through a series of guided imagery that will decouple the pain from suffering. Throughout this process, it is hoped that you will be given some relief and find assistance in healing the body.

The greatest fear of all is the fear of death.

That is because it is the ultimate letting go,

And we are not really sure what happens to us in the process.

We spend our lives having thought or be taught about dying,

Yet it is the most certain fate we all have to face.

If you ever heard the experience of someone who has had a near-death experience,

They will tell you that leaving the body was the most joyful experience.

Much to one's surprise,

It is joyful.

There is no pain.

They feel peaceful,

Happy and even relieved to be above the body,

Watching.

So what is it that doesn't die during death and comes back to share the experience?

Consciousness is a form of energy.

Energy is never destroyed.

It moves on from one physical form to the next.

When I practice to root myself in the awareness of being that eternal spirit,

I overcome the fear of death.

For the next few moments,

Sit in the awareness of being a point of peaceful energy that animates this body.

I sit behind these eyes,

Looking out through them.

I listen through these ears,

Smell through this nose,

Taste with this tongue,

And experience the sensation of touch through the skin that covers this body.

The body which is my costume has a finite life span.

But I,

The incorporeal being,

Never cease to exist.

This phenomenon called death is just a change in my costume.

When I am rooted in this awareness,

I am no longer in fear.

Acknowledge how you feel right now.

Thank you.

Join me tomorrow on part 6,

Which is about the detached observer.

I have been struggling with the fear of death since I was 6 when my father died. This year is my worst year as I have turned 58 and it is when my father and many of his siblings, parents passed. Listening to Jay has helped me understand.
