Our mind can often take our awareness with it on its travels to the past and the future. To train the awareness to stay in the present, begin to get connected to the breath. Practice gently and wisely, guiding the awareness back to anchor to your breath.

Transcript

Gently closing your eyes and when the eyes close,

Really drawing your awareness and your attention inside,

Inside to the home,

The house of the body.

And from this inside point,

Watching the breath,

The breath is the anchor that holds you in this internal world.

Home,

That awareness shifts outside of the body to sounds or smells or things you've remembered or thoughts that you have.

Rooted outside,

Just drawing yourself back inside by anchoring to the breath,

Trying to leave aside any judgments or frustrations if the awareness jumps somewhere else outside the body or into the past or into the future.

That's the nature of the mind.

Like a gentle,

Wise guide,

When you realize the awareness has moved back outside of the body,

When the awareness becomes aware that it's no longer in the body,

Bringing it back by anchoring to the breath.

The breath guides you back home into the house of the body and you focus on the inhales and the exhales.

Continuing to do this for as long as you need to reset and refocus.
