Hello,

And welcome to Joanna Furtado therapy,

Holding our pain with compassion.

As humans,

We experience heartbreak,

Sadness,

Betrayal,

Trauma.

And we're living in dark and uncertain times,

Where we're witnessing a much higher degree of unwellness and,

And really hatred,

War,

And unkindness,

That is of a greater degree than I believe we've ever seen before.

At the very least,

It's,

It's very,

Very obvious in the sense that we are witnessing this,

And it's right in front of our eyes,

It's fed to us through the news and through social media.

And it's really hard not to be affected by all of this,

Along with whatever we might be dealing with in our own personal lives.

I know from myself,

I can feel a kind of energetic weight of sadness that lives just around my heart area.

And so whatever you might be carrying today,

This practice is for you.

I'll invite you to find a comfortable place and a stable position.

And just let yourself begin to breathe into the here and now.

Letting go of what you've done earlier today,

Or the to do list to come.

And just breathing into this very moment.

Slowing the breath down and really letting yourself take in through the inhalation and let out with the exhalation.

Perhaps there is a sigh that would like to be released,

That reveals some of what you've been carrying around.

I invite you just to sound it out with your exhalation.

And perhaps bringing a hand or both of your hands to the part of your body that might be activated,

That you might be aware is holding tension,

Is holding pain.

Taking your hands to that place.

And letting that part be met by an unconditional,

Compassionate acceptance.

There's an energy here that is not asking this part to go away,

Or to change or to get better,

Or to hide or to be something other than what it is.

It's just a loving,

Unconditional hand or energy that is sitting beside,

That is holding and wrapping around.

And as you breathe,

Take that energy in.

And as you exhale,

Let it land in that pain center.

So we're breathing that compassionate,

Loving,

Healing energy into our attention.

And as we exhale,

We're letting that land there.

And we're just slowing down and taking in that that we are witnessing and being with what is here right now.

That there's time and space for what you are holding.

And as I do that,

I notice in myself,

The energy gets a little stronger.

It's as though it's able to be really here right now.

It's able to come up and be felt.

And I'm just allowing.

I'm just allowing and being with.

I'm a hand that is sitting with compassion,

Like a blanket wrapped around the hurt.

And I begin to take in a little bit of warmth that I notice in my hand.

This warmth is a kind of loving compassion that is noticing what I'm carrying and tending to,

Attuning to and supporting.

And I just allow myself to be cared for.

I allow my feelings and my pain to be cared for.

I allow myself to feel in the stillness of a compassionate hand.

There's nothing that needs to change.

As I mentioned,

I don't need to tuck these feelings away or make them better,

Happier,

Shinier.

I just want them to know that I am aware of them.

And that they are held.

They are known.

They are seen.

And that they are part of me that is worthy of being met.

They are a part of me that deserves to be witnessed,

Heard,

Felt.

And I notice as I slow down,

That there might be something something in my stillness,

In my more centered space,

There might be something here that I need to hear today.

There might be a part that is worthy of taking in.

So I want you to notice what you might need to hear from the inner wisdom of a still and centered place.

Just notice what rises up from your heart.

And let yourself take in that message.

Let yourself really take it in.

Repeat it a few times.

And let it land in your whole being.

Let yourself attune to that wisdom.

And just notice if there's anything else you need here.

Before we close this practice today.

You can imagine breathing in or taking in whatever you need here energetically.

And knowing that you can always come back to this space.

You can always replay this recording.

And know that this place lives within you.

Thank you for joining me today.
