Welcome to this meditation on the Goddess Lakshmi.
When we meditate on the Goddess Lakshmi,
We are infusing our consciousness with divine ideas,
With the power,
The energy,
The beauty,
And the abundance of the Goddess herself.
We are unifying with the Goddess and are inviting her divine nature to reveal itself in our own nature,
Revealing itself through our creativity,
Our manifestation,
And our newness.
Meditation on the Goddess Lakshmi increases flow,
Energy,
Creativity,
And movement in the direction of our desires.
So it is especially helpful if we are feeling stagnant,
Sluggish,
Or having difficulty bringing forth projects and desires.
Lakshmi,
Also known as Shri,
Is the embodiment of beauty,
Wealth,
Prosperity,
Abundance,
And creativity.
She is the essence of beauty and auspiciousness in the material world.
Her iconology depicts her as a raven-haired beauty adorned in a shimmering red sari.
She has four arms,
Illustrating that she is a Mahadevi,
A great goddess.
She is seated on a lotus flower.
In one of her hands,
She is spilling gold coins,
Symbolizing an ever-flowing river of abundance.
She is giving a blessing and a boon.
She is prosperity.
All the positive qualities that you may find in the universe emanate from her.
She is a source of all forms of wealth.
At the physical level,
She is strength,
Material wealth,
Physical health,
Beauty,
And grace.
At the mental level,
She is peace,
Happiness,
And a positive attitude filled with inner harmony.
At the spiritual level,
She symbolizes all of the yogic powers of the siddhas,
Selflessness,
Kindness,
Discipline,
And selfless service.
So let's begin.
I invite you to find a comfortable seat.
When you are ready,
Gently close your eyes,
Settling in.
Take a few exaggerated breaths now,
Deeply inhaling,
And let the air go through the mouth as you exhale.
Take another deep,
Cleansing inhale,
And let the air move through the mouth as you exhale.
And now,
Inhaling deeply through the nose and exhaling through the nose,
With the lips gently closed,
Finding your way into the awareness of your breath.
Begin lengthening the inhale and lengthening the exhale,
Becoming aware of the breath moving downward through the body on the inhale and upwards through the body with the exhale.
Inhaling down from the crown of the head to the base of the spine,
Exhaling upwards from the base of the spine to the crown of the head.
Inhaling down,
Exhaling up.
Imagine a channel that extends from the crown of the head to the base of the spine,
A channel that carries this breath from the crown of the head to the base of the spine,
Moving the breath downward on the inhale and upward through the channel on the exhale,
Moving the breath through this central channel.
As you inhale,
Take your attention to the right side of the channel.
As you exhale,
Move your attention to the left side of the channel,
Inhaling down the right side of the channel exhaling up the left side of the channel,
Inhaling down the right side,
Exhaling up the left side.
Continue this circular,
Full channel breathing.
As you continue this circular,
Full channel breathing,
Inhaling down the right side of the channel,
Exhaling upwards through the left side of the channel.
Imagine a soft light like the light of the moon moving through the left side of the channel.
Let this lunar light,
This soft effulgence as you exhale,
This effulgence of goddess energy,
Fill the central channel,
This light of the moon,
This goddess light,
Filling the channel with every exhale.
Begin to inhale the soft light of the moon down to the base of the spine and exhale this moonlight upwards to the crown of the head.
Now move your awareness to the space between your brows and soften the space between the brows.
In your mind's eye,
In the space between your brows,
Imagine a wide open screen,
The screen of your awareness,
Seeing this screen in the space between your brows,
Seeing this screen with your focused awareness as vast,
Open,
Endless,
And infinite.
On this screen of your focused awareness,
See a beautiful field of green grass,
New grass.
Notice the unending number of blades and curling themselves and reaching for the sun as you breathe deeply.
Appreciate the multiplicity and the abundance taking place in this field of green grass.
Notice the sheer number of unfolding blades,
Noticing multiplicity and abundance,
New growth and constant renewal.
Looking deeper into the field,
You see an inviting path and you begin to move towards it.
With every step,
Every footprint,
You notice how fresh the grass smells,
Smells that there is a sweet fragrance in the air.
Every step surrounds you with the smell of this fresh grass of clover,
Of orange blossoms,
Jasmine,
And honey.
Open your senses now to the fragrance of Lakshmi.
There is an aliveness in this field,
A hum,
The Aum of life now both felt and heard.
It is the resonance of life.
Open your sense of hearing to the sound of life,
The hum around you,
The Aum as you move along this path,
This path that is fragrant with jasmine and honey.
Listening now to the sound of the birds,
The insects,
The beat of a dragonfly's wings,
Your sense of hearing wide open and alive now.
Listening to the voice of Lakshmi all around you.
The path is now weaving and winding,
Leading you towards a thicket of trees.
You move slowly and mindfully.
Your senses are wide open.
You become aware of how the cool earth feels against the soles of your feet,
How the sun feels on your arms.
Now feeling the sweet fragrant air brush against your skin.
Feel the air and the sun against your skin.
The sense of touch now wide open.
The feel of Lakshmi standing at the trunk of one beautiful tree in the center of this thicket.
You place your hands on the tree.
You feel the trunk.
It's cool and smooth and thick.
It is both powerful and alive under your hands.
Feel the palms of your hands.
Feel the palms of your hands against this beautiful powerful tree and in your mind's eye.
Now gently turn your palms upward in a receiving mudra.
Receive the blessings and boons all around you.
The auspiciousness,
The beauty,
The aliveness of Lakshmi in the palms of your hands.
Allow the goddess Lakshmi to appear here with you in the shade of this beautiful tree.
As you gaze at Lakshmi,
There is an emanation of light,
Joy,
And divine creativity.
She is beauty,
Abundance,
Prosperity,
Health,
And pure joy.
She wears a red sari trimmed in gold and jewels.
With every breath the gold and the jewels create scintillating waves of light that emanate from her in every direction.
In every direction allow yourself to be saturated in the brilliance of this scintillating light,
The effulgence of the goddess Lakshmi.
In one hand she holds gold coins and they fall to the earth filling the space between you.
This flow of coins,
This unending flow of golden coins,
This flow of abundance does not stop.
It is unending and eternal.
In another hand she holds a lotus flower,
A boon,
A blessing of wisdom and grace.
And in another an empty jar.
She is generosity ever replenishing and refilling.
She is the renewal of life.
She is the night,
The jasmine flower,
The honey,
The movement of ideas.
She is pleasure and new beginnings.
She is wealth of knowledge,
Knowledge,
Wealth of health,
And wealth of friendships and love.
She is Shri brilliance shining brightly,
The shine of divine light.
Open yourself to the givingness of Lakshmi,
The generosity,
The affluence,
The flow of her divine power.
Be here in her presence.
Be fully present with the goddess Lakshmi and thank the goddess Lakshmi for her wisdom,
Her wisdom,
For her blessings,
And the wealth of joy that she brings.
Imagine offering Lakshmi a gift.
Extend your palms towards Lakshmi,
Presenting her with your gift.
Perhaps it's a flower,
A beautiful stone,
A juicy fruit,
All the things that Lakshmi loves,
An item of beauty.
Imagine offering it to Lakshmi with open palms,
Offering to yoke here in this generosity with the light and brilliance of Lakshmi.
And now watch as she slowly shapeshifts into the material world once again.
Cultivate gratitude for the abundance of life.
Let it begin to fill the heart center,
This gratitude for the abundance of life,
For joy all around you,
For the pleasures,
The sweet pleasures of life.
Allow this gratitude to fill you up,
Fill the heart center,
This joy,
This beauty,
This grace.
Breathing deeply in this gratitude for the abundance of life,
The grace,
The beauty of all that is.
And very slowly taking your time,
Return to the here and now of this moment,
Of this moment.
Returning your awareness to this present moment,
To the honey of this moment,
Right here and right now.
Remain still and quiet for a few breaths more.
May this meditation serve you in beautiful and wonderful ways.
And as it serves you,
It serves all others and serves the world.
Om Sri Maha Lakshmi Namaha.
I'm grateful for your meditation.
Until next time,
Take good care.
Om and blessings.
