Good morning,
It's Kate.
The other day I heard someone say working from home becomes a working on home.
Working from home becomes a working on home and that's exactly what we are doing as we cultivate our ability to sit in silence and stillness.
To be able to witness our breath,
Witness our responses,
Our reactions,
Witness the present moment so then we can be fully present for our loved ones,
For our community,
And for the world.
And we transform the world by transforming ourselves.
So today we're going to do a mantra meditation and mantra means mind vehicle.
And a mantra is something that's basically the object of our attention during our practice and it can be a word that you'd like to embody,
A characteristic,
Something that you aspire to,
Something that you'd like to elevate even more so.
So when you're ready you know what to do,
Go ahead and get into a comfortable position and close your eyes.
And I'd like you to put one hand on your heart and one hand on your belly and take a nice deep inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth.
Inhale through your nose.
Exhale through your mouth.
And one more time on your own.
Begin to breathe in and out of your nostrils.
Then as we do this we get a deeper breath into our diaphragm which helps calm our nervous system down.
Feel yourself relaxing into the earth.
And ask yourself the question,
What quality would I like to embody today?
What quality would I like to elevate?
What quality do I need?
And when you have that,
Breathe in on the inhale and say to yourself and silently,
I am.
And exhale and insert your word.
Mine for the day is I am calm.
So inhale,
I am,
And exhale,
Insert your word.
And repeat this silently to yourself over and over.
And you'll start to drift away.
Thoughts will creep in.
You'll hear sounds which create thoughts and that's okay.
Acknowledge it and bring it back to your mantra.
We'll begin and I'll watch the time.
Slowly begin to wiggle your fingers and your toes and when you're ready,
Open your eyes.
Thank you so much for practicing with me and remember what you practice makes you stronger.
Have a beautiful day.
