Welcome to this practice which is specifically designed for anyone who's feeling like they're having a difficulty with inertia in life right now.
In more extreme terms,
We refer to this as like a functional freeze where the body tends to override its innate drive for movement.
Perhaps this takes the form of chronic fatigue,
Depression,
Pain,
Or stress.
And joining me now to explore a different part of the nervous system,
I invite you to settle into this practice in a comfortable place and in particular perhaps sitting for this practice or even walking.
But no right or wrong way to practice this.
So flying down feels right,
That's just fine too.
Perhaps just feeling into the beat of the music for just a moment.
Taking a comfortable inhale and on the exhale allowing yourself to fully feel the ground underneath you.
Maybe taking three such conscious breaths now.
Bringing yourself into the now of this moment.
This time set aside just for you.
And here we will start by just rotating your attention throughout the body just to bring the full body online without judgment,
Without trying to change anything.
First just noticing sensations at your feet,
Your calves,
Thighs,
Hips,
Low back,
Stomach,
Chest,
Upper back,
Shoulders,
Upper arms,
Elbows,
Forearms,
Wrists,
Palms of the hands,
Fingers,
Neck,
Head,
Face,
Jaw,
And mouth.
The whole body online constantly sending messages and without overriding them.
Simply aware of sensations as messengers with a story to tell.
And taking this opportunity now to drift into a scene or a moment when you felt like you were hitting your stride.
This can be however far back or recent as you want.
It can be simply a snapshot of a time where you just really were feeling your vitality.
I want you to see your self there down to every detail.
What you're wearing,
Who you're with,
What do you hear?
And perhaps most importantly,
How are you moving?
Where do you sense the center of this movement in this place where you are feeling more fully alive?
Perhaps even feeling the beat in this moment?
Where is the impulse to move?
Imagining that movement is happening right now.
Or even what wants to happen.
A striking out,
A pushing up,
A pulling in,
A head shaking,
Nodding,
Hips or legs moving.
No right or wrong here.
Simply being with the center of where your body wants to move.
And allowing this to happen in body or in mind.
And as you allow this to be so,
Simply becoming curious about any co-arising thoughts or emotions.
Perhaps seeing these thoughts or emotions a distance from you.
Maybe this is a belief you hold about getting moving or an emotion.
What do you want to say to this belief or emotion as your body feels the impulse to move?
Repeating this phrase to yourself now.
This phrase perhaps that liberates the body from any well-worn grooves of thoughts,
Beliefs,
And emotions.
That make it difficult to be in touch with our own vitality.
Taking a moment to reflect on where in your body you have felt this impulse,
This center of overcoming inertia.
Recognizing how it shows up in you such that you can locate it again.
Strengthening your path towards greater movement and fluidity.
Like strengthening a muscle.
This takes repetition.
But that gradually with time you find this place of movement and vitality without even having to search for it.
Consider how you might integrate this into your daily life.
Perhaps locating this to help you get even a small project done around the house or to get out for a short walk or even just an appreciation out in your own backyard.
Beginning to appreciate how accessing the impulse to move and gradually reinforcing this in your life can slowly lead to more and more vitality.
Thank you so much for joining me today.
I hope you enjoy some movement today.
Bye-bye.
