Tuning in to the natural rhythm of the breath and using that awareness to tune into other natural rhythms and cycles – waves on a shore, the cycle of the seasons, the cycles of the sun and moon. Feeling into the nature of impermanence and the cycles in everything.

So making yourself comfortable.

You might like to close your eyes either fully or partially.

Bringing your awareness to your breathing.

Your breath is like waves on a beach.

As you're breathing in your body's rising.

It's like the movement inward,

The power of a wave that's rising up on the shore.

And then as you release out,

It's like the wave is rolling back again.

Drawing back into the ocean.

Feeling this cycle of breathing.

Just like the waves that cycle continuously.

Feeling into the rhythm of this cycle.

If you notice your mind wandering then very kindly and gently bringing it back to the rhythm of your breathing.

A cycle of waves on the shore.

Communicating with your goals through that cycle feels like a regional ring.

This cycle is ultimate and I want to share it through other ideas as well.

And as you are,

This cycle of breathing,

As you are this movement of waves on the shore,

This rhythm,

This ceaseless cycle of rising and falling,

Noticing what's happening beyond the shore,

Out in the land,

Rising up to meet the land and then drawing back out again into the ocean.

And just imagining that on the land it's winter,

It's cold,

There aren't any leaves on the trees,

There's no greenery,

There aren't many animals,

They're all tucked away somewhere or they've moved to a warmer climate,

Everything's quite dormant on the land.

Noticing this ceaseless cycle of you,

The waves,

You the breath,

Constantly rising and falling.

And as you are in this ceaseless cycle of rising and falling,

This rhythm,

Noticing how the season is starting to change very gradually on the land.

Each time you rise as a wave and you look in toward the land,

It's starting to come to life very gradually.

Little leaves are starting to form on the trees,

The animals are starting to come out,

Insects are starting to come out,

Bulbs are starting to grow.

Slowly the land is changing as the season starts to warm up.

And all the while you are simply going about this endless cycle of rising and falling.

Which time,

You roll in as a wave,

There's a little bit more greenery on the trees.

There are a few more animals.

There's more of a green carpet starting to rise up from the earth.

Grass is growing.

Each time you roll in,

Each time you rise up,

There's a bit more,

A bit more warmth,

A bit more growth.

And still you keep this rhythm.

Is that things are constantly changing,

Constantly fluid.

Nothing stays the same.

And so you have this wisdom of fluidity of everything.

Noticing the changes on the land.

Noticing that the only thing that really is constant is change.

You keep moving in this rhythm.

The land is cycling through a longer rhythm,

A rhythm of the seasons.

Taking a moment to notice that you understand cycles,

You understand rhythms.

You know there's nothing to hang on to.

You embrace fluidity,

Change.

Even in that there's still space for delight.

Noticing on the land how more flowers are starting to come up.

The landscape is coloring in.

Flowers on the trees.

More and more animals,

More colors in the animals,

The different animals that you're seeing.

Allowing yourself to delight in the changes.

Even with the wisdom of impermanence,

We can delight in the moment.

And still we cycle,

Rising up onto the shore,

Drawing back out again.

You know that there is no need to wish for change or to worry about change because it's going to happen anyway.

There's an acceptance of change,

Resting in that awareness.

There's so many cycles of change.

The earth warming up,

Moving into spring.

The change,

The cycle of the day,

So the brightness of the day and then the resting darkness of the night.

The movement of the tide with the moon,

The whole body of water moving into the shore and back out again.

And within that,

The smaller cycle of you as a wave moving into the shore and out again.

So many cycles,

All taking their own time.

And it's no rushing any of these cycles.

Resting in the awareness of these rhythms.

Resting in the awareness of these rhythms.

Resting in the awareness of these rhythms.

And there's the wave,

You know that.

Rising will give way to the next season in its own time.

Day will give way to night.

Rising will give way to falling away again.

The in-breath will give way to the out-breath.

Noticing what it's like to be in this single moment,

In the midst of all that change.

To linger with one moment.

To feel what it's like to be alive and real in one moment.

And as you are the wave and we start to transition just as every practice exists and then ceases to exist.

In your mind's eye,

Allowing any imagery of the land and spring to gradually dissolve.

Allowing any imagery of the waves rising and falling to give way to awareness of your breathing again.

Allowing that transition to happen slowly.

Moving from your inner landscape,

Your mind's eye to the physicality of your breathing.

Being very aware of the sensations of your breathing.

Be expressing a little gratitude for this cycle,

This rhythm of the breath.

This ceaseless rhythm.

That companion.

And gradually starting to move your awareness,

Expanding it out to the rest of your body.

Becoming aware of the physicality of the rest of your body.

Maybe starting to move your fingers and your toes to get in touch with your body.

Opening your wrists,

Your ankles,

Your shoulders a little,

Your head.

When you're ready,

Gently opening your eyes.

Taking your time to transition.

You'll be looking around the space you're in just to reorient yourself to this space.

Taking a moment to settle in this space.

Maybe having a stretch,

A sip of your drink.
