The Parable of the Growing Seed We start first with a reading of the parable.
Then we go into an interpretation of the parable line by line.
We will then go into a guided meditation which is based on the same parable and towards the end of the session we will see what actions we can take in our daily life based on this parable.
And the parable starts So now going into this parable going into this parable line by line And the parable starts The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground.
The kingdom of God is not a distant place.
You can think of the kingdom of God as a state of consciousness,
As a rhythm,
A sacred rhythm that underlies all life.
The man.
The man is you.
The man is you because we are all co-creators.
Our thoughts,
Our intentions,
Our actions are seeds.
And every moment,
Whether we know it or not,
We are planting these seeds into our life.
A suggested practice is to start your day with intention.
Asking yourself,
What kind of seeds am I going to plant today?
Kindness,
Patience,
Truthfulness.
These are the seeds that shape our reality.
Scatter these seeds consciously.
A parent or the teacher who constantly encourages a child,
Who listens patiently,
Who models respect.
They are scattering words of affirmation.
They are scattering patience.
They are scattering the seeds of love.
Over the period of time,
The child grows confident,
Compassionate,
Secure.
And these are simply the fruit that is born from those seeds which were planted daily.
In your work environment,
At work,
We can choose to be encouraging rather than being competitive.
We can choose to be helpful rather than being dismissive.
The seeds that we are scattering are seeds of collaboration,
Seeds of positivity,
Seeds of humility.
And the kingdom that we experience is a healthier,
A more uplifting work culture.
When it comes to our social media use,
Pausing before posting,
Pausing before commenting,
Choosing honesty with empathy over judgment,
Over sarcasm.
We are scattering the seeds of awareness.
We are scattering the seeds of integrity.
We are scattering the seeds of compassion.
And the kingdom,
Our digital footprint,
It becomes a source of light for others.
Our presence online,
It becomes a garden,
Not a battlefield.
And then our inner dialogue.
We catch ourselves in negative self-talk and we immediately replace it with encouraging words.
I'm learning,
I'm growing,
I'm enough.
We are scattering the seeds of self-love.
We are scattering the seeds of grace,
The seeds of resilience.
And the kingdom that we experience is our inner world becomes more peaceful.
And because our inner world is so peaceful,
We are able to show up in the outer world with growing confidence.
So on social media,
The seeds I'm scattering are awareness,
Seeds of awareness,
Seeds of integrity,
Seeds of compassion.
Because I'm choosing honesty,
I'm choosing honesty with empathy over judgment with sarcasm.
So seeds of awareness,
Seeds of integrity and seeds of compassion.
These seeds,
They are simply our choices.
They can be very small.
Like seeds,
They are small.
They are often unnoticed moments of intention.
But when we are mindful of these seeds,
When we are mindful of these choices,
The kingdom of God grows quietly within you and it starts to grow around you when we are planting out of love and we are not planting out of fear.
And the parable goes on.
And should sleep by night and rise by day and the seed should sprout and grow.
He himself does not know how.
Growth,
It often happens in silence.
It happens in mystery.
We don't have to control everything.
Once we have planted an intention,
Once we have applied the effort,
All we need to do is trust the process.
There's an unseen intelligence around us.
We can call it God.
We can call it the universe.
We can call it the deeper self.
We can call it the higher self.
We can call it the divine mind.
So there is an unseen intelligence that supports this unfolding,
That supports this growth.
So just like in the parable,
That man does not know how the seeds grow.
In the same way,
We are encouraged to practice surrender.
Do your part.
Do whatever you need to do,
Whatever is within your capability to do.
But don't obsess over the outcome.
When you've done everything you can,
Let yourself rest.
Know that growth is occurring even when you can't see it.
Because that is the essence of surrender.
A person searching for a job,
Or if you're looking for a job,
Or you're looking for that new opportunity,
You've done your research,
You've applied for the jobs,
You've prepped your resume,
You've reached out to contacts,
And then there's silence.
Behind the scenes,
We don't know what is happening.
Behind the scenes,
Your application may be moving to HR,
Or a new opportunity that you haven't really considered maybe forming.
So trust,
Rest,
Keep showing up to life.
Because things are germinating.
Even if we don't see those green shoots,
Things are germinating.
Someone who is healing from a breakup.
You've done the journaling,
You've done the crying,
You've gone to therapy,
You've done everything that you need to do to take care of yourself.
But still there's that feeling of heaviness.
Mystery is at work.
Emotional healing,
It works in layers.
One day,
Suddenly you might feel lighter.
Not because of something that you did on that day,
But because something has been growing quietly within you.
So honor the timing.
Trust that inner restoration is happening even in the silence.
You're raising a child.
You teach a child values,
You listen to them,
You model kindness.
But it seems like they're not really absorbing anything.
And then months later,
They surprise you with that moment of wisdom,
With that moment of empathy that simply reflects everything that you've been modeling.
So keep nurturing,
Trust the seed.
Growth shows up a long time after the planting is done.
You're engaged in creative work,
You're writing a book,
You're starting a business,
You're creating art.
And then suddenly you hit a block.
Or you feel that no one is noticing your work.
There's always this mystery at work.
Subconsciously,
Ideas are forming.
People may be watching quietly.
And suddenly a breakthrough may come when you least expect it.
Let the process breathe.
Don't force it.
Rest is a very important part of creation.
So the farmer sleeps,
The farmer rises.
He does his part and then he lets it go.
And we are called to do the same.
Plant with intention and rest with trust.
Growth is happening even if we don't know how.
And the parable goes on.
For the earth yields crops by itself.
First the blade,
Then the head,
And after that the full grain in the head.
And this is the nature of life.
It unfolds in stages.
The blade has to come before the grain.
Patience is not passive.
Patience is an active act of deep trust.
So sometimes progress may be slow.
Sometimes progress may even look invisible.
But progress is real.
So in your current stage,
Whichever stage you are in,
You may be in the stage where the seed has just been planted.
Or you may be in the stage where the sprout is coming up,
The blade is forming.
Or you may be in the stage where the crop has finally come.
Whichever stage you're in,
You're holy.
That stage is holy.
Don't compare your path to others.
Compare your growth only with yourself.
So whatever stage you are in,
Whatever is growing in you right now,
Recognize it.
Bless it.
So growth is organic.
Growth is sequential.
And growth is sacred.
You're learning a new skill.
Maybe you're learning to play the guitar.
Maybe you're learning to code.
Maybe you're learning how to use AI.
Or maybe you're learning how to cook.
When you're in the stage of the blade,
You're awkward,
You're slow,
You're uncertain.
Because you're just figuring out the basics.
When you come to the part where the plant reaches the head,
You're starting to build that muscle memory.
Things start feeling smoother.
And finally,
The full grain.
You play a song or you build an app.
Or you cook a full meal with joy,
With ease.
So instead of getting frustrated as you're learning a new skill,
Acknowledge the phase you are in.
This is my blade phase.
Growth is happening.
Or maybe you're recovering from grief.
Maybe you're recovering from burnout.
Maybe you're recovering from some trauma.
When you're at the blade stage,
You name the pain.
You start talking about it.
When you come to the head stage,
You've started to gain insights.
You've set new boundaries.
You've got new coping tools that you can use to work with.
And finally,
The full grain.
Peace returns.
You are now more whole than you were before.
In your relationships,
If you're building a new friendship or you're developing a romantic bond,
In the initial stages,
You meet,
You connect,
You enjoy those light conversations.
As you move further in that relationship,
You begin to trust,
You begin to share vulnerably.
And finally,
The full grain.
You have a deep,
A rooted bond which is based on shared growth.
So when it comes to relationships,
Don't force the relationships.
Allow those connections to unfold in their own time.
It's like you wouldn't really rush a rose to bloom.
Once the rose bud appears,
You really can't rush it to bloom.
All you can do is watch it with a reverence.
So why not do the same for yourself?
Where are you in your process?
And how can you honor the process that you are in without judgment?
And the parable closes with,
But when the grain ripens,
Immediately he puts in the sickle because the harvest has come.
And there always comes a time for action,
For harvest,
For reaping what we have sown.
And when the moment is ripe,
You will know.
Spiritual growth is in fact any growth.
It's not just about waiting.
It's about recognizing when it's time to move,
When it's time to act,
When it's time to claim your growth.
So stay attuned.
Listen for that inner readiness.
When you feel that nudge,
Whether it's to speak the truth,
Whether it's to launch a project or whether it's to leave something behind,
Trust it.
Because that harvest,
It's not the end.
It is the closing of one cycle and then the continuation of moving into the next cycle.
Having the courage to act when the moment is ripe.
Recognizing that there is a time for stillness,
But also a time for movement,
A time for decision,
A time for harvest.
It's like you've spent months writing a book or crafting a course or developing a business idea.
One morning,
You suddenly feel that nudge,
You feel that inner readiness.
It's time.
You hit publish,
You share your work or you pitch that idea.
Keep your mind open to intuition.
Don't keep over polishing what you're doing.
When your inner peace aligns with readiness,
Act.
Or when it comes to speaking your truth.
Maybe you've been holding back thoughts in a relationship or maybe you've been holding back thoughts at work.
You're unsure whether it's the right time to speak.
And because you've been doing all this inner work,
One day you suddenly feel that clarity and you feel that calm.
And this is a calm that's not driven by emotion.
This is coming from being grounded and you are able to speak your truth respectfully.
So recognizing that clarity is a form of ripeness.
When you no longer feel afraid,
Just ready,
It's time to act.
Ending something that no longer serves you.
Could be a job,
Could be a habit,
Could be a relationship that has felt out of alignment.
But you've waited,
You've reflected,
You've grown.
And then one day you no longer feel that conflict.
You simply have that resolve and you walk away with grace knowing that you've learned what you've needed to learn.
Whatever preparation that you are doing,
Honor that preparation.
Because sometimes ending something well,
Leaving something is a form of wisdom.
Or another example,
Saying yes to a new opportunity.
A door opens,
An offer,
An invitation,
An unexpected possibility.
And then something in you says,
This is exactly what I've been preparing for.
And you don't hesitate,
You say yes.
These moments,
These synchronicities,
Don't dismiss them as coincidence.
These are simply invitations for you to step into your harvest.
The harvest is sacred.
It is not rushed,
It is not delayed.
It comes after the waiting.
But when that harvest comes,
It demands response.
Or it will just be a wasted opportunity.
So today,
The question that you can ask yourself,
Is there something that is ripe in your life right now?
Is there something that is ripe in your life right now?
And what are you being invited to claim?
So this parable is simply a reminder that your inner life is fertile ground with mindful planting,
Surrender trust,
Patient growth,
And most importantly,
Timely action.
You live in alignment with the rhythms of life,
With the rhythms of the universe,
With the rhythms of divine.
We'll now go into a guided reflective meditation based on the same parable.
And I've titled this meditation Growing the Seed Within.
Get comfortable.
If you're sitting,
Sink into your seat.
If you're sleeping,
Let whatever surface you're sleeping on support you.
If you're moving around,
Simply try to bring yourself into this place of relaxation.
Try to still your body.
Relax your shoulders.
And if it is safe to do so,
And if you are comfortable doing so,
You can close your eyes.
Or alternatively,
You can simply lower your gaze towards the floor.
And take a deep breath in.
And exhale.
Take another deep breath in.
And exhale.
Feel the weight of your body supported by the earth.
You are safe.
You are here.
You are here.
You are now.
The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground.
In your mind's eye,
In your imagination,
See yourself standing in a wide open field.
The soil is rich,
Dark,
Fertile,
Untouched and full of promise.
In your hand,
You hold a single seed.
Take a look at this seed.
This seed represents your intention,
Your deepest desire,
Or your next becoming.
Take a moment to identify that seed.
It could be a dream.
A healing.
A truth.
A change.
Anything that your soul longs for.
What are you ready to plant in the soil of your life?
What does your heart truly long to experience?
To become or to give?
Hold that image or hold that feeling gently.
And in your imagination,
Plant the seed in the earth and cover it lovingly with soil.
And let it be.
And should sleep by night and rise by day and the seed should sprout and grow,
He himself does not know how.
Breathe.
Breathe.
Let go of trying to control.
The seed is in the soil.
Your role now is to trust.
You are not required to know how it will grow.
There is an invisible intelligence,
A divine order that knows the way.
In your life,
Where are you holding too tightly?
Where are you trying to force results?
Can you release the outcome and trust that the process is already working?
As you breathe,
Imagine the earth beneath your feet humming with quiet activity.
The seed you planted is already receiving,
Already responding,
Already unfolding.
Let yourself rest in this mystery.
For the earth yields crops by itself.
First the blade,
Then the head,
After that the full grain in the head.
And imagine days and weeks passing.
The soil warms,
The rains come,
The sun shines and slowly a tiny green blade breaks through the surface.
Growth is happening.
See the progression.
Blade,
Then stalk,
Then grain,
Each phase is sacred.
There is no rush.
There is only right timing.
What stage are you in now?
Are you in your healing?
Are you in your becoming?
Are you in your journey?
Are you honouring the stage you're in?
Or are you impatient for results?
Say gently to yourself,
I honour where I am.
I trust what is becoming.
But when the grain ripens,
Immediately he puts in the sickle because the harvest has come.
Now see yourself return to that same field where once there was only soil.
Now there is golden abundance,
Tall grain waving in the breeze.
The harvest is ready.
Feel the joy.
Feel the gratitude.
You nurtured the invisible and now it is visible.
What was once a thought is now a form.
This is the law of life.
As within,
So without.
Are you ready to deceive what you have been preparing for?
Are you open to claiming the good that is already yours?
Let your heart open as you gently gather the harvest.
Feel the fulfilment,
Not of striving,
But of trusting.
This is what grace feels like.
And take a deep breath in and release.
And know that this cycle,
Planting,
Trusting,
Becoming,
Receiving,
This cycle is eternal.
At any moment you can begin again.
The kingdom of God is within you.
It moves silently,
Faithfully,
Lovingly,
Always toward fulfilment.
And take another deep breath in and let it out.
And you can start to wiggle your fingers,
Wiggle your toes.
Return to your space.
And when you feel comfortable,
You can open your eyes.
So,
Call to action.
Become the sower of your inner garden.
Stop living reactively and start creating consciously.
That pretty much sums it up.
Stop living reactively and start creating consciously.
Plant your intention.
Identify a seed that you're ready to plant,
A thought,
A belief,
A desire,
A possibility.
And impress that into your inner soil.
Use your imagination,
Use affirmations or speak it into consciousness.
Do what you need to do.
Take what action you need to take.
And then let it go.
Surrender,
Trust in that unseen.
And on whichever stage you're at,
If you're a creator,
If you're publishing something,
If you're trying to become big,
Let's say on Instagram and you've put up a post,
It's a new post,
You've done your work.
Don't get tied to the outcome,
Don't get tied to the likes,
Don't get tied to the comments.
You put your post and the next week you put another post and the week after you put your post and you keep doing your work trusting that what needs to happen is happening in the background.
Don't get tied to the outcome.
Honour whichever stage you're in.
And when the harvest comes,
Be ready to receive.
And many of us,
We try to wait for that perfect time.
We try to wait for the first of the month or I'll start on Monday or I'll start next week or once the kids finish school or when I buy my house or when I change my job or when something happens.
We always wait for perfect conditions.
We always wait for certain conditions.
Don't wait for that perfect time.
If you want to start something,
The perfect time,
The perfect time to begin is now.
You want to go on that diet?
Do it now.
You want to learn that course?
Do it now.
You want to start writing a book?
Do it now.
You want to upskill yourself?
Do it now.
You want to get in control of your finances?
Start educating yourself now.
Don't wait for perfect conditions.
Thank you everyone for being here.
Love,
Light,
Blessings.
Namaste.
