This track gently guides listeners through a grounding tree mindfulness exercise, centered around finding both rootedness and ease. The image of a tree, holding both grounded roots and flexible branches/leaves, is woven through a gentle guided breathing and nervous system regulation exercise.

Begin by bringing an awareness to the bottom of your feet.

If you're sitting or standing or laying down,

Just letting your feet be in contact with a surface.

And as you breathe,

Imagining that there are roots growing out from the bottom of your feet,

Gently anchoring you to the floor,

The bed,

Wherever you might be.

But there is a movement that comes with your breath.

Your breath brings a flow of air and fresh energy,

Even as your feet are grounded,

Even as your roots are connected.

And as you continue to breathe in and out,

Feeling that duality of your feet being grounded,

And the rest of your body rising up from your feet.

So there's so much space between the bottom of your feet,

The top of your head.

And remembering that just because your feet are grounded,

Just because you're imagining roots doesn't mean you're locked in or tight.

There is an ease.

There is a fluidity as you breathe and imagining your body like a tree has roots.

But every time a wind a gentle wind passes,

There's a rustle in the leaves,

The branches may gently move.

And that can happen in your body as well.

The rise and fall of your belly and chest,

Perhaps a gentle movement of your fingers,

Or the flutter of your eyelids,

Or even just the feeling of your breath as you exhale,

And feeling that gentle exhale on your skin.

Allowing yourself to continue with this image of the tree.

Taking in nourishment from your feet from the roots,

Exhaling it out all the way through your mouth,

That you can be grounded and have some ease at the same time.

You don't have to choose one or the other.

But here you are in this moment,

Feeling a connection to the earth,

Feeling a connection to the image of a tree,

Whatever kind of tree you like.

And also feeling the ease that comes as a tree moves,

A tree has to have some movement,

It has to be able to let the branches move,

And the leaves,

Otherwise,

It will be too stiff,

And it will fall over.

So allowing yourself to play with that image in whatever way it makes sense in your body right now.

That you can have grounding through your feet and movement through your limbs through your branches.

Just taking a few more gentle breaths with that image breathing in.

Knowing you can come back to this image of the tree,

Whenever you need to,

It's always available to you.

If your eyes are closed,

You can gently begin to flutter them open and see if you can bring a bit of that feeling of grounding in your feet,

And gentle,

Easeful movement in your upper body and in your breath as you go about the rest of your day.
