With the recent layoffs in the technology industry, news of an impending recession, and the holidays just around the corner, you might be experiencing unemployment, worries about money, and stress about what the future brings financially. During this meditation, we will shift out of our heads and into our breath, bodies, and physical environment. Then we'll assess our worries and thoughts objectively and with kindness.

Hi there,

My name is Amber and this guided meditation is for anyone who is experiencing economic uncertainty right now.

As a reminder,

On this channel we practice what is called a radical welcome.

This means that you are welcome to show up exactly as you are every single time.

When you choose Meditation with Amber,

I hope you feel 100% welcome to bring your thoughts,

Your emotions,

And any physical stuff that you may be experiencing.

Whatever it is that you have going on,

You are welcome to be here.

So with that being said,

Pull up a seat and come to a comfortable position with a nice tall spine.

Let's take a few rounds of breath together.

Inhale through the nose slowly and deeply.

And exhale through the nose or mouth,

Emptying your lungs to the very bottom.

Inhale.

And exhale.

Inhale.

Inhale.

And exhale through the mouth,

Let something go.

If you're currently experiencing economic uncertainty or even just reading the news right now,

You might be spending a lot of time up in your head ruminating on your thoughts and things that might happen in the future.

For the next few rounds of breath,

Let's shift our attention from what's going on in our heads to other dimensions of awareness,

Like our physical bodies and our surroundings.

So bring your attention to any physical sensations you're experiencing right now.

Scanning through the body from the top of the head to the soles of the feet.

Notice any sensations of temperature,

Tension,

Perhaps there's pressure,

Or feelings of texture from your clothes.

Notice what it feels like to have your breath moving through the body on the inhales and what the release feels like on the exhales.

Let's move now to observing the mind.

From an objective point of view,

Assess what troubles,

What thoughts,

And what worries are here.

As thoughts and emotions come up,

Try to be as loving and as friendly with yourself as you would be with a close friend.

Now,

As you continue to observe your thoughts,

Start to talk back to them just a little bit.

The goal is to truly understand what is here right now.

We want to separate which thoughts are reasonable reactions to our current reality and which thoughts are a result of things that may or may not happen in some imagined future.

We're not trying to minimize any issues that really might be here,

But we're also not going to buy into thoughts that make things bigger or worse than they are.

What is really and truly here in this present moment?

And if you find that your mind has wandered off,

Gently bring it back.

Come back to the exercise of observing and with friendliness evaluating your thoughts as they come up.

Now that we're coming to the end of the practice,

I'll leave you with a quote from The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle.

If your overall situation is unsatisfactory or unpleasant,

Separate out this instant and surrender to what is.

That's the flashlight cutting through the fog.

Your state of consciousness then ceases to be controlled by external conditions.

You are no longer coming from reaction and resistance.

Then look at the specifics of the situation.

Ask yourself,

Is there anything I can do to change the situation,

Improve it,

Or remove myself from it?

If so,

Take appropriate action.

Focus not on the hundred things that you will or may have to do at some future time,

But on the one thing that you can do now.

This doesn't mean you should not do any planning.

It may well be that planning is the one thing you can do now.

But make sure you don't keep running mental movies that continually project yourself into the future and so lose the now.

Any action you take may not bear fruit immediately.

Until it does,

Do not resist what is.

Thank you so much for meditating with me today,

And I look forward to seeing you next time.

Listening to this as many times as I need to today to help cope with the fact that the orange abuser just got elected, again. It’s helping a bit, and that’s no small feat. Thank you ♥️
